Someday, generations from now, a scholar will view things like this and chuckle the way we do now at the ancient Greek and roman explanations for the natural world. Then that scholar will become solemn at how long we carried these Bronze Age beliefs, and all of the truly immoral things that were done in the name of those obviously flawed notions.

The Bible is supposed to give us the tools to know God and to be a part of the story He is telling in the world. A story of love and hope. God loves people. All people. Even dumb people. Point is, even if the Bible is fake, and God is fake, shouldn't we try really hard to find out the truth? I think He's there, but I'll never stop trying to uncover the truth, and if I discover that I've been wrong, then that's a good thing, because truth is always preferable to falsehood. *steps off soapbox*

Scientists are the people that are out there trying to find the truth while the majority of religious types would wish to see them fail! Also, God loves people... Even homosexuals? @Amernee I encourage you to read the Bible, it's misrepresented, because it teaches not to judge. The Bible says that Christianity (following Jesus, that is) isn't a religion. It also says that truth is the most important thing. I love science. Evolution and the big bang and other scientific theories make sense to me. I like them. But they don't disprove God. And God does love homosexuals. My Mom is a homosexual. Whether it is right or wrong is not any of my business. My business is love.

If I walk through the wilderness and find a watch, I assume it has a creator. Watches don't make themselves. In the same way, when I dissect an eyeball, which is a million times more complicated than a watch, the best explanation is a creator. And if there is a God, wouldn't you want to know? Why would you not even try to find evidence for God? It's rather silly to say, nobody proved God to me so I'm going to assume He's not there. Because if He exists, He's probably a big deal.

It makes me happy knowing that more and more people are coming out and speaking the truth. The bible is a contradictory, misogynistic, hate-filled book that was written by bronze-age nomads and goat herders. It is neither divine nor factual.
The god of that book is a jealous, megalomaniac, who is neither omniscient nor omnipotent. He is, however, omnipresent. Just ask any religious nut. He is always with them, and he amazingly always shares the same world view that they have.

It makes me sad knowing my favourite actor thinks this way. I respect him greatly and im sure he has many things backing his opinion, but one of us is right, and im sure, because he is older and more respected, people think hes right. But saying the bible is fiction is taking a great leap of faith. Its like saying that telophones were impossible 30 years before they were invented. People will see the day when there is evidence, and it will be sad, and too late.

Not really, no. If you're familiar with the history of the Bible, it's pretty sensible to chalk it up as fiction.

Hm? You mean about stoning gay people? Leviticus 20:13. I'm not sure what you define as the True Bible, but I'm sure it's in there in most. Also see Samuel 20:31-33, 1 Kings 14:24, 1 Kings 15:12, Romans 1:26-28, Romans 1:31-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 1 Timothy 1:10 for more anti-gay scripture.

Magic is considered a power of nature, and once used, it is ethereal, and many scientists like Isaac Newton and Democritus were involved in alchemy, which is a science of magic, Democritus found atoms, he was a sorcerer, without him, science wouldn't find such, and without Isaac Newton, they would never find gravitation. If you knew anything about theology you'd know that the bible and the qur'an are pretty similar, this is of course because all religions propagate the myths of the ones that came before to adopt the greatest combination of fantasy and fear tactics.
You can trace the themes of the abrahamic religions ( Islam, Christianity, Judaism ) as far back as 3150 BC.
