  • When interpreted as a metaphor or parable, the Lord of the Rings is very true. Good triumphs over evil. The evil is represented as the eye on top of the unfinished tower-- something that is on our $1 bill, in the Bible, and in Lord of the Rings. Come on, let's be on the side of the righteousness, the side of love, and faith, and belief. That's what Tolkien wanted people to choose. This is the choice that Jesus asks us to make, if we'll choose love and forgiveness over doubt and evil.

  • @TrunkMonkey3000 There is no Evil, there is no good.

  • Well, Ian McKellen says it's fiction. Argument over guys.

  • Sadly, Sir Ian is wrong that the audiences are clever enough to recognize fact from fiction.... so...so sadly wrong.

  • Brilliant man, Sir Ian

  • @realzoomy: your book say that but their is no evidence for any of those event happening. Ian just turned the argument on it's ear to show how bumfuck retarded it is.

  • Ian McKellen answered that question like a true wizard. Go Gandalf!

  • Ian McKellen: Jesus' Older Brother

  • fuck jesus

  • oh my god - ian mckellen just rose from "incridibly good actor" to like place 3 on my fave actors list ;)

  • Go Ian, show the fools

  • Bravo Ian, bravo.

  • Hahaha. Christian Tears are the tastiest.

  • Go to any of the top schools of religion in the world. I think you'll find the biblical scholars there who have devoted their entire lives to the Bible's study tend to say that Bible is not anti-gay but many traditions' interpretation of it is. No text is self-interpreting and the truth is Christians these days are intellectually lazy and prejudiced. If they can isolate a verse from its context and use it as a weapon against others, they can. I think it says more about themselves than gays.

  • He He all the Christians getting their knickers in a twist :-) But Sir Ian was wrong about one thing, many people aren't clever enough to sort out fact from fiction.

  • Go Ian!! :D I would sooner believe that the LOTR books are fact then the bible anyday lol

  • FUCKING IAN MCKELLEN\!

  • MCKELLEN IS A DEVIL!COME BACK GANDALF!

  • @PhysicalsimForever There is evidence aplenty that both God and the devil exist. Just because yopu are blind and cannot see does not mean to say something does not exist.

  • @realzoomy Which one of the many possible gods in existence? In any case, if you're right, you're only making a case for agnosticism.

  • @shadowshock2468 There is only one God, the creator of heaven and earth, who came to earth, as prophesied, as a little baby 2000 years ago to teach mankind how to live to fit us all for heaven. That is the one who Ian Mckellan has chosen to mock. He created Ian McKellan and created all the breath in his lungs and all the food that he eats.

  • @realzoomy Actually, Ian Mckellan was created by his parents.

  • @AustenFugitive Oh, were Ian Mckellan's parents biological scientists then?

  • @realzoomy Nope. They were actually human beings. Hopefully you know how conceiving a child usually works. I'd rather not explain it to you. You don't actually need to be scientists in order to produce children. It's quite simple really . . .

  • @realzoomy Thx for the info, now take your pills

  • @shadowshock2468 As well as the BYE BYE BLASPHEMY party he attended to mock the Lord Jesus Christ, Ian McKellen has also offended me by making a rubbish remake of The Prisoner, I cannot imagine what Patrick McGoohan must have thought about it, McGoohan was a Christian and wrote the Prisoner as an expression of his Christian faith. McKellens remake is a pointless hatchet job of a great series.

  • @realzoomy then show us the evidence instead of just making assertions

  • The reason Ian McKellen is saying that the Bible is a work of fiction is because he does not like what is written in the Bible, because it convicts him of his own sin. He will find out if he is right about God not being real, because the Bible says that all our lives on earth will end and we will meet him face to face.

  • @realzoomy No, he just knows its bullshit for weak minded people who want a simple answer for everything instead of actually having to think for yourself

  • i would have call it a twisted fairytale..

  • How do I act so well?

  • Wonderful sentence I heard: Either you take the bible literal or serious.

  • You know why did he say that? Because it's fucking true! Now shut up and stop whinning.

  • Before Chuck Norris goes to sleep he checks his closet for Sir Ian Mckellen!

  • I admire Ian McKellen so much for not only not being afraid to publicly state his opinion, even though it will piss many people off, but just being such a role model for people out there. One of my guyfriends is gay with a boyfriend and I know he takes comfort in the fact that there are celbrities like Ian McKellen who are too:) Homophobes can go fuck themselves!!!

  • the bible IS fiction >_>

  • well Ian Mckelen is right the bible is fiction and full of so much shit that is so retarded

  • @PhysicalsimForever The Holy Bible is as historical a document as any Infact we draw more information of the times from the Old Test. and New Test. than most documents however Biblical docrtrine is often discredited until archeologicist IN FACT dig up remnants proving biblical scripture, such as Nehbikanezer, Ramses, the ten plagues of egypt the exodus, the foudations of hebrew peoples and tribes, the Crucifixion of the man Yahsua and his deciples, all of which are historically proven to exist.

  • Someday, generations from now, a scholar will view things like this and chuckle the way we do now at the ancient Greek and roman explanations for the natural world. Then that scholar will become solemn at how long we carried these Bronze Age beliefs, and all of the truly immoral things that were done in the name of those obviously flawed notions.

  • @AdUtrumquePeratus76 We chuckle at some of the Greek explanations, but we are amazed at the accuracy of others.

  • @4ucuse5o yes, the scientific ones.

  • Ian McKellen, one of my all time favourite actors... He just went to THE favourite.

  • I think everyone should shut up about what is "right" or "wrong" and accept that people have different opinions than them.

  • The Bible is supposed to give us the tools to know God and to be a part of the story He is telling in the world. A story of love and hope. God loves people. All people. Even dumb people. Point is, even if the Bible is fake, and God is fake, shouldn't we try really hard to find out the truth? I think He's there, but I'll never stop trying to uncover the truth, and if I discover that I've been wrong, then that's a good thing, because truth is always preferable to falsehood. *steps off soapbox*

  • @4ucuse5o you are not trying to find out the truth you just want to stick with your illusion of god, because that gives you something, and thats pathethic that you need a fairytale to have a meaningful life, its just sad, yourself should be enough to be happy with you and the world around you and embrace life without a "god" to be there give you a false and sad reason to live, theres no other life, enjoy this one, embrace it

  • @4ucuse5o To say the truth over falsehood is preferable is very noble, but also contradictory when coming from a Christian. Scientists are the people that are out there trying to find the truth while the majority of religious types would wish to see them fail! Also, God loves people... Even homosexuals? Tell that to the Evangelists. That all said, you seem like a decent enough person and I'm not looking for an argument, your comment just confused me. You almost sound like a closet Atheist :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Amernee I encourage you to read the Bible, it's misrepresented, because it teaches not to judge. The Bible says that Christianity (following Jesus, that is) isn't a religion. It also says that truth is the most important thing. I love science. Evolution and the big bang and other scientific theories make sense to me. I like them. But they don't disprove God. And God does love homosexuals. My Mom is a homosexual. Whether it is right or wrong is not any of my business. My business is love.

  • @4ucuse5o Your the man. But your mother is a lesbian not a homosexual. this is not an insult it is just the truth since she is a woman that is the proper term. Another Correction btw, The Holy bible does say that Faith in The highest and only God Yahweh and his one begotten Son, The Messiah is the only way to attain salvation. Therefore indicating that txt is a religion. More importantly my point is To know Christ is to live by his way, to live by logic and love, that is the way to salvation

  • Since God is love and knowledge is power, the only way to attain a holy peace is to practice it, and that truth is breathed universaly through ALL people. Peace be with you.

  • @MaestroInfernus or maybe religion, which includes Christianity (christians tend to be so disinclined against things that disparage religion universally), is like a penis, it's ok if you have one but please, don't wave it in front of other people's faces.

  • If I walk through the wilderness and find a watch, I assume it has a creator. Watches don't make themselves. In the same way, when I dissect an eyeball, which is a million times more complicated than a watch, the best explanation is a creator. And if there is a God, wouldn't you want to know? Why would you not even try to find evidence for God? It's rather silly to say, nobody proved God to me so I'm going to assume He's not there. Because if He exists, He's probably a big deal.

  • I think Gandalf just wants to belittle the bible to help prop up Lord of the Rings as fact, WHICH I AM FOR!

  • @Blackharp who is gandelf?

  • @gandj19 ...Read a book please.

  • @Blackharp One of the best things I've ever read in my life XD

  • It makes me happy knowing that more and more people are coming out and speaking the truth. The bible is a contradictory, misogynistic, hate-filled book that was written by bronze-age nomads and goat herders. It is neither divine nor factual.

The god of that book is a jealous, megalomaniac, who is neither omniscient nor omnipotent. He is, however, omnipresent. Just ask any religious nut. He is always with them, and he amazingly always shares the same world view that they have.

  • Go magneto.

  • @PhysicalsimForever 1: i have to go with Lady Gaga, God made us this way, and he doesnt make mistakes. 2: i believe the verses ur talkin about, speak about gang rape. 3: IF theyre really talkin about homosexuality, then i have to say, Jesus never talked about it himself. it was written by men who wrote what they THOUGHT God was telling them to write, and they were probably mistaken. 4: if it is in fact a sin, its just that. a sin. its not worse than murder or theft. in God's eyes, sin is sin. :)

  • @bloodartistry Jst in response to ur Gay Heaven comment. I realise its frustrating but the religon u practice is different to how others practice it and it seems everyone jst brings their own prejudice to the table and then says....GOD

I mean despite a close and personal relationship with the lord Xtians only decieded to give women the vote, got rid of slavery, accepted blacks and gays....when others decided to, for nearly 2k years god kept it to himself...

  • THIS MAN IS AMAZING.

  • This man is goddamned brilliant.

Also he does a very good job as gandalf. (Or however you spell "gandalf" I believe thats correct but I have no clue)

  • i didn't think i could like him even more, but now i do

  • He's a old pce of shit . And is guna rot in hell

  • @Fallcorn7 PROOF! Ignorant fucking moron.

  • But it is.

  • lol! I love him. And @RANDOMDUDE209, suck my dick.

  • @bloodartistry ur a gay piece of shit homo

  • @JordanAnderson191 wow! my first hate message! ill cherish it always!!! :D

  • @bloodartistry I dont think cos its of bible thumpers, he probably doesn't believe the bible for the same reason you dont believe the quran.

  • @shandcunt interesting way to rethink it, thats probably it :)

  • i hope Sir Ian doesnt believe because of bible thumpers. im bi and a christian

  • LOL! I know that every one of those cast members' hearts dropped into their stomachs when Ian said the Bible should have a disclaimer. .

  • Random dude ur funny!

  • I'm a christian, and happy to hear Ian McKellen expressing his own opinion. He's not forcing it on other people, but saying what he believes. Respect to the man.

  • hes saying its fiction cause hes gay and he going to hell.

  • @RANDOMDUDE209 No he isn't because hell isn't real you deluded fucktard.

  • Gandalf tells it like it is.

  • The Bible stems from the Enuma Elish, Sumerian Book of Creation. The Flood derives from the same story mentioned in that book. The Hebrews were also a minority of Babylonians who migrated to Canaan. Their original name was Hab'iru. Abraham was also considered a Chaldean. Born in Ur in the Chaldees, the first Jew was Kaldu/Chaldean which meant Magician or Wizard. Neo-Babylonians were called Chaldean, e.g: Nebuchadnezzar. Hence why the Assyrians are plagiarized in the Bible by the Jews.

  • Sir Ian is keeping it real, Word!

  • Ian McKellen: Fuck Yea!

  • Go Ian!

  • let the religious trolling commence!

  • Brilliant man, he is.

  • It makes me sad knowing my favourite actor thinks this way. I respect him greatly and im sure he has many things backing his opinion, but one of us is right, and im sure, because he is older and more respected, people think hes right. But saying the bible is fiction is taking a great leap of faith. Its like saying that telophones were impossible 30 years before they were invented. People will see the day when there is evidence, and it will be sad, and too late.

  • @tawnabawna

"But saying the bible is fiction is taking a great leap of faith."

Not really, no. If you're familiar with the history of the Bible, it's pretty sensible to chalk it up as fiction.

At any rate, what actors believe shouldn't influence you. Just take their work for what it is and enjoy it. I have Tom Cruise movies in my DVD collection, even though he's a stark raving mad scientologist. I also have Jim Carrey movies, even though he's an anti-vaccination nut ball.

  • @smaakjeks I agree with you there, im somewhat a homophobe (personally, i think its plain gross), but that wouldnt stop me from loving Ian Mckellen. but think about it, people in the old days thought the world was the center of the universe and they're opinions were provin wrong, maybe things will change one day, and people will finally believe.

  • @tawnabawna

"im somewhat a homophobe (personally, i think its plain gross)"

Well, you're not a homophobe for simply not wanting to sex it up with someone of the same gender as you. It means you're straight.

"maybe things will change one day, and people will finally believe."

Did you start believing because evidence was presented to you? Or was it because of personal revelation?

  • I love Ian McKellen, as arrogant as he is sometimes. He's right.

  • The thing I love about this interview... the guy interviewing them got all the story details WRONG.

  • A wizard should know better!

  • @mixinstyle

I agree, he should respect other's religion, and I'm not a Christian.

  • @GokzTT

He merely stated what he believes. As it happens, he's right. Where's the disrespect?

  • @smaakjeks

He stated that the Bible was fiction, that offends Christians, it's called religious intolerance, it's as bad as what Christians do to Pagans and Atheists, so what he said is negative and is ongoing the battle about religion. We're all entitled to our opinions, we should keep them, not going and offending others.

  • @GokzTT

"He stated that the Bible was fiction, that offends Christians, it's called religious intolerance"

Saying you don't believe the Bible is the word of God is religious intolerance??

"it's as bad as what Christians do to Pagans and Atheists"

Is that supposed to be funny?

"We're all entitled to our opinions, we should keep them, not going and offending others."

Atheists would shut up if Christians didn't ram their religion down our throats and demonize us all the time.

  • @smaakjeks

No, he may not believe in the Bible, and there is no proof of nothing, therefore he has to say he BELIEVES the Bible is fiction.

No, I don't consider that to be funny, more than 5000 people were killed by Charlemagne just for being Pagan,

It is true that some Christians demonize and hate you, but some Atheists, you must admit try to do the same to Christians.

  • @GokzTT

"he has to say he BELIEVES the Bible is fiction."

His exact words are: "Well I've often thought that the Bible should have a disclaimer at the front saying "this is fiction"".

That's pretty much the same statement. And again, there is plenty of evidence that points to the Bible being fiction. He's right.

"more than 5000 people were killed by Charlemagne just for being Pagan"

That's entirely my point. You wrote that what Ian did was "as bad".

  • @smaakjeks

There is no evidence pointing to the Bible that it is fiction, what makes that claim?

What Sir Ian Mckellen has said what intolerant, in other words "bad".

  • @GokzTT

"There is no evidence pointing to the Bible that it is fiction"

Then I'm afraid you don't know a whole lot about the Bible or how it came to be.

"What Sir Ian Mckellen has said what intolerant"

Um, define intolerant. I don't see how his comment was intolerant in the least. He's not saying Christians shouldn't exist, or that Christians are bad. The Bible itself is far more intolerant than anything Ian said. Scripture commands death by stoning and eternal torture for him.

  • @smaakjeks

Then I'm afraid you do not know the Bible, no where in the true Bible does it write that, ask many Christians.

Intolerance is you cannot stand another person having a different belief than you.

  • @GokzTT

"no where in the true Bible does it write that, ask many Christians."

Hm? You mean about stoning gay people? Leviticus 20:13. I'm not sure what you define as the True Bible, but I'm sure it's in there in most. Also see Samuel 20:31-33, 1 Kings 14:24, 1 Kings 15:12, Romans 1:26-28, Romans 1:31-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 1 Timothy 1:10 for more anti-gay scripture.

"Intolerance is you cannot stand another person having a different belief than you."

So, Ian was not at all intolerant then.

  • @smaakjeks

That is the corrupted Bible, in the true Bible it does not write that. I'm a New Age spiritualist, so you have to ask a Christian that.

  • @GokzTT

"That is the corrupted Bible, in the true Bible it does not write that."

Please tell me what the True Bible says, and let me know what edition of the Bible that is.

  • @smaakjeks

The accuracy of the Bible proves that it has not been corrupted. I know many Gay Christians, Ray Botlz is gay, and a Christian. You just have been disproved, Ian Mckellen is a man who does not deserve knighthood.

  • @GokzTT

"The accuracy of the Bible proves that it has not been corrupted."

But you just said the Bible has been corrupted! Make up your mind. No edition of the Bible I know of (except maybe the Jefferson version) speaks of homosexuals in any other light than bad.

    "I know many Gay Christians"

And I know of many black tea party members. It's called cognitive dissonance.

    "You just have been disproved"

In what universe have you disproved me?

  • @smaakjeks

The corrupted Bible is the re-written bible, however there are so many bibles in this world you cannot imagine.

Black Tea Party is just racist, I have just disproved that you can be "gay" and a Christian.

  • @GokzTT

"The corrupted Bible is the re-written bible"

How many times are you going to make me write this question... Maybe if I use caps lock, and indicate with arrows... vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

====> WHICH VERSION OF THE BIBLE IS THE UNCORRUPTED VERSION?? <==== ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Please answer that question. Which version is the uncorrupted one, and where can I find it?

  • @GokzTT

"Black Tea Party is just racist"

There is only one tea party. There is no black and white tea party. Alright, forget it...

"I have just disproved that you can be "gay" and a Christian.""

I never claimed that gays can't be Christian. I'm just saying that every version of the Bible contains disgusting, intolerant bigotry against gay people. If you know of a version that is without these passages, you have yet to tell me about it. Frankly I think you're full of shit.

  • @smaakjeks

If the Bible contains hate towards Gays, why do gays become Christians? Also being gay is like wearing glasses, it isn't natural, but nor is it unnatural. I'm full of shit? You're the one stereotyping all Christians, not all Christians are the same, I met Atheists who believe in magic, I think it is the Atheists who are full of shit.

  • @GokzTT

"If the Bible contains hate towards Gays, why do gays become Christians?"

They do what all people do: skip over and ignore the parts they don't agree with. There are LOTS of commandments that Christians ignore, even though it's in their holy book and their Messiah told them not one word of the law has changed. Do Christians work on the Sabbath? Yup. Do they eat shellfish? Absolutely! Do they blend fabrics in their clothes? All the time.

  • @smaakjeks gay christians are in denial. they're hypocrites. nuff' said

  • @GokzTT

"Also being gay is like wearing glasses, it isn't natural, but nor is it unnatural. I'm full of shit? "

Yes you are. You're even more full of shit for that nonsensical stuff about gays and glasses.

"You're the one stereotyping all Christians"

Oh really? Where did I do that??

"I met Atheists who believe in magic"

Of course there are atheists who believe in stupid stuff. The only thing all atheists have in common is that they lack a belief in gods.

  • @smaakjeks

That's not nonsense, it's the truth.

Yes, you're the one saying the Bible is terrible, however there are different conceptions and views of it, and if you weren't full of shit you would know that the Bible are collected stories placed into one book.

Magic is not stupid, it is a belief and you have to respect it like your own belief, otherwise you have no place in civilization.

  • @GokzTT

"That's not nonsense, it's the truth."

Nope. Being gay is natural and exhibited by several other species. Not that it matters.

"Yes, you're the one saying the Bible is terrible"

So? You can't tell the difference between the Bible and Christians? One is a book. The other is a group of people.

"if you weren't full of shit you would know that the Bible are collected stories placed into one book."

What are you talking about? I do know this.

  • @smaakjeks

It isn't natural, some animals are gay, but some animals are born with odd illnesses.

Not a group of people, but people who follow a certain religion, basically 35% of the world.

Then why are you hating on the Bible?

  • @GokzTT

    "It isn't natural"

    Define natural.

"some animals are gay, but some animals are born with odd illnesses."

So... homosexuality is an illness now? What century are you from??

"Not a group of people, but people who follow a certain religion, basically 35% of the world."

And I haven't stereotyped them as you accused me of doing. So, an apology would be nice.

"why are you hating on the Bible?"

Because it's full of hateful stuff. Lots of people, obviously including you, don't know that.

  • @smaakjeks

Homosexuality is not an illness, it is a thing that you are born with, like being born with bad eyes and you need glasses, it is no different.

You have stereotyped them, you think all believe in the Bible, I've met Christians who don't follow the Bible but only follow Jesus Christ and God.

The Bible does not contain hateful stuff, many Christian professors know that.

  • @GokzTT

"[Homosexuality] is a thing that you are born with, like being born with bad eyes and you need glasses, it is no different."

    LOL

"You have stereotyped them, you think all believe in the Bible"

I never said that. It's fun to just make up stuff to refute, eh? You've done it several times now. How about talking about the points I'm ACTUALLY making?

"The Bible does not contain hateful stuff"

Fuck it, this isn't worth my time. We're done here.

  • @smaakjeks

You said Christians are a group of people who follow a book, Bible, you don't remember what you wrote, clearly.

Of course it isn't worth your time, you are too busy hating on religion when you don't notice you don't have proof of anything that you said.

  • @smaakjeks Stories passed down trough GENERATIONS by word of mouth, through multiple languages and finally written down. Ever played "telephone" with people from other countries? It's alot like that. The original legend is distorted to the point where the original proponents wouldn't recognize their tale anymore.

  • @TheDeadlyRook

Right you are. Not to mention the fact that some of the stories are plagiarized from earlier religions. How many ancient religions have a flood myth, for example? Quite a few. Heck, even the story about the life of Jesus resembles deities/prophets from other religions.

  • @GokzTT

    "Magic is not stupid"

Well, the reasons people believe in magic sure are stupid.

"it is a belief and you have to respect it like your own belief"

I'm not required to respect anyone or anything. I do respect most people, but I don't respect people's beliefs automatically. Not all ideas are created equal. Thinking that the world is flat, for example, is a stupid belief to hold today. It is not worthy of ANY respect.

"otherwise you have no place in civilization"

    LOL

  • @smaakjeks

Why would that be? Many Pagans, Wiccans, and I believe in magic. Magic is considered a power of nature, and once used, it is ethereal, and many scientists like Isaac Newton and Democritus were involved in alchemy, which is a science of magic, Democritus found atoms, he was a sorcerer, without him, science wouldn't find such, and without Isaac Newton, they would never find gravitation. Many people in the olden days believed the world was round, you still don't belong in civilization.

  • @GokzTT

"Why would that be? Many Pagans, Wiccans, and I believe in magic."

Not for sound, logical reasons you don't.

"many scientists like Isaac Newton and Democritus were involved in alchemy, which is a science of magic"

Alchemy is not science. It doesn't matter how smart the proponents of it were.

"you still don't belong in civilization."

You would put me in jail for not respecting nonsense? Mind policing is something tyrants try, and is not the sign of a civilized person. Ironic, I think.

  • @smaakjeks

What is logic? Saying that god doesn't exist when not knowing how the world came to be, when the "Big Bang" happened out of nowhere.

Alchemy is a science, without Alchemy, science wouldn't have much.

I wouldn't place you in jail, I'm claiming that you don't belong in civilization because you hate the Bible, and there are Christians and Muslims that will surround you and you will speak to them whether you like it or not.

  • @GokzTT Yeah. bibles that contain the same stories... like the Quran. Mohammed and Jesus are the same damn guy. Allah and God are the same fictional characters.

  • @TheDeadlyRook

That's not true, the Bible almost has no connection to The Quran. Muslims believe in Mohammed and Jesus, they are completely different characters.

  • @GokzTT

If you knew anything about theology you'd know that the bible and the qur'an are pretty similar, this is of course because all religions propagate the myths of the ones that came before to adopt the greatest combination of fantasy and fear tactics.

You can trace the themes of the abrahamic religions ( Islam, Christianity, Judaism ) as far back as 3150 BC.

    Peace.

  • @MrAudiovideodisco

    Fear tactics?

  • @GokzTT

What do you think all religious parents tell their children when they question the existence of god, or any other aspect of the religion?

" if you don't believe in, and worship your god you will burn in hell for ever and ever and ever"

It's basically the exploitation of a child's imagination, but at the same time they are tantalized by the idea of living forever in heaven with friends and family, an exploitation of our natural fear of death and the unkown.

    peace.

  • @MrAudiovideodisco

I was never told that! I was told the beauties of the creator, and I believed there is one, I don't do anything bad! I don't fear death, it's just another journey.

  • @MrAudiovideodisco

I'm talking about the basic psychology that religion uses to manipulate people into suspending their critical minds and making them feel guilty for trying to use them in the first place.

There is nothing wrong with a belief in god, i myself have never completely rejected the possibility.

Religion is the problem, you should not make the mistake of placing god under the same banner as religious dogma or the bible and qur'an.

  • @smaakjeks

    @smaakjeks

Then I'm afraid you do not know the Bible, no where in the true Bible does it write that, ask many Christians.

Intolerance is you cannot stand another person having a different belief than you.

  • @GokzTT

"It is true that some Christians demonize and hate you, but some Atheists, you must admit try to do the same to Christians."

Sure. It's just that there are a lot more Christians doing it than atheists. Also, imagine if this interview had gone in a pro-Christian direction. Nobody finds it offensive when someone thanks God on tv for helping them, despite the presence of some pretty disgusting and narcissistic implications in such a statement. That would not make it on youtube.

  • @smaakjeks

Of course it is, the world is 35% Christian, there are so many more Christians than Atheists. You can thank God for helping you, it is positive, what is negative is if a Christian says that Atheists will burn in Hell, that's a threat.

  • @GokzTT

"Of course it is, the world is 35% Christian, there are so many more Christians than Atheists."

So, whom is more in danger of persecution here?

"You can thank God for helping you, it is positive"

Is it? Think about it. If you thank God, you're asserting that the divine creator of the universe picks favourites and that you are one of them. God helped you be successful rather than, say, saving a cancer victim. It is also a claim of certainty, which you said was offensive.

  • @mixinstyle

    Lol! A wizard should!

  • Go magneto!

  • Ha ha... Ian Mckellen 1 Bible Bashers 0. The bible is not based on fact, the quicker you learn to accept that the quicker you will find true happiness.

  • fail.

  • Its a shame that such a talented actor could allow his spirituality to become so blighted.

  • @NYerintransit Yes, such a shame that he's not sanctimonious like you.

  • @friendlier Two questions.

    1. Are you an atheist?

    2. How old are you?

  • That's true! But Lord of the rings is way better than the bible, you can actually believe the story.

  • i believe the EVENTS in the bible are fiction... but the stories METAPHORICALLY have meaning, when you look at the lesson of each story.

  • Wait you people actually believe Jesus walks over water, changed water into wine and that the earth is only like 3000 years old?

Haha, this world is fucked with stupid people

It's impossible, you're saying that science, history, maths and all other studies are completely wrong. STUPID FUCKS!!

  • Everyone shut up

Ian's right and you know it

  • Ian McKellen calls the Holy Bible "Fiction"

Is Ian McKellen an authority on world religions?

If an actor tells you that some people are better than others, and thus we should abolish or disregard anything that says "All humans are created equal" will you do it? You probably will, because even if you say you are an Atheist, you are only so because other people have convinced you to become on our of your own "Free Will"

  • @IoannesBellator Anyone who's grown up with Christianity shoved down their throat is an authority on it. We have spent a lot of time debating with ourselves whether it is fiction or not. Sir Ian decided that it is. So did I. Let me guess where you stand.

  • Atheists have nothing to look forward to, because ultimately, their future ends in death.

Their lives are insignificant and meaningless! They should commit suicide, to help the overpopulation problem and make room for theists.

  • @IoannesBellator Love you too. <3

  • @IoannesBellator your future ends the same way everyone's future ends, not unless you're a robot or something

  • @IoannesBellator That's true. I'd much rather spend eternity with the idiotic likes of you in "heaven."

  • Atheists are the cause of genocides and persecution of minorities.

Atheism allowed the justification of murder for the sake of progress and common good. We call it "Euthanasia" and "Eugenics".

    Mexico

    Spain

    China

    Russia

And more countries have been subject to atheistic persecution of clergy and theists for the gain of atheists!

Believing in Science takes as much faith as in God! Critical thought makes one doubt about the goodness of humanity, and makes it easy to be evil.

  • @IoannesBellator how does atheism make it easier to be evil ?? Ya see that, religion has driven you mad

  • @IoannesBellator Terror groups are for the most part associated with a religious belief. During the Holocaust, Jews weren't even the only ones killed. Homosexuals, gypsies, agnostics, etc, were all murdered. The Spanish Inquisition involved the seeking out, torture and killing of everyone not Catholic. The KKK is a Christian Identity hate group. In America, skinheads brutally attack in the name of God. How can you say we are the reason?

  • @IoannesBellator

no, it doesn't take faith to believe in science. where there's proof, there's no need for faith. and if you hate critical thought so much, why don't you go live in a cave somewhere? you can't denounce science and then use modern technology.

  • @IoannesBellator Critical thought makes you become evil?!?! Hahahahaha I think you have some mis-firing neurons there :-P

  • Ian Mkellan FTW <3

  • Paul Bettany sitting beside Sir Ian McKellen. Life is complete now. <3

  • we sir i advise you to read more about the concept of jihad in Islam before you start giving statements about what it is, because jihad is far more encompassing than war, and actually war is called by Prophet Muhammed, peace be upon him, the small Jihad, while he calls one's struggle with the Self (ego) the big Jihad. Third, not because some Muslim terrorists say that killing innocent people is Jihad means that Islam says that.

  • First of all sire, Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, was not an anarchist. you just make a claim with no evidence. Get me something from the bible please that points out to this anarchism you're talking about.
