"Kellys Heros" PT.2 1. "All for the Love of Sunshine" was a Hank Williams song, recorded after 1944. 2. Carrol O'Conner as the Pattonesk general! 3. Don Rickels, the greatest supply Sgt. ever! 4. And remember, this movie came out about the same time as M.A.S.H. and Catch-22! Oh yea, Capt. Stubing from " The Love Boat" and "McCale's Navy" Where's Ernest Borgine when you need 'em? MORE TO FOLLOW......
1. The Shermans in the movie were M-4A3's, with 75mm cannons. M-4's didn't have 76mm's till fitted with T-23 turrets in early '44. 2. The Tiger 1 was a T-34/85 dressed up to look like a Tiger 1, the same one used in "Saving Private Ryan". 3. The movie was filmed in Tito's Yugoslavia, 1970. 4. Oddball's head gear was Luftwaffel, not the regular american "football helmet". 5. Telly Savalis was the M-24 Chaffee tanker in "Battle of the Bulge". The Tiger tank commander was also in BOTB.
@FLAKMEISTER666 what year is the movie staged in ? and i believe the us and britian was engaged with fire flys76 mm [ 17 pounders ] in 44 for the normandy landing with the crysler multi bank inline six [ gas ]425 hp and a four man crew , i cant see the machine guns another way to tell . i do know they are not grizzlys they had a better slope to their armour ,, im only asking because i dont know , but isnt it possible for them to have fireflys ?
I first saw this movie in 1972. My best gal-pal's boyfriend was Oddball in the flesh. He was an armor nut, and one of the best friend I'd ever have. And today, my new girlfriend has gone through my DVD collection, and what do you think was her first picks to watch? KELLY'S HEROS! So much for those negative vibes. My favorite Eastwood & war movie!
I saw this when I was 7 and to this day when asked 'favorite movie?' "uuum yep Kelly's Heroes" and surprisingly I've only met one other who'd ever heard of it.
This just missed a funny part when Donald Sutherland first says something then Eastrwood say who's that and the funny part when Don Rickels rolls his eyes and says his names Oddball. lol
EVERYBODY should knock it off with them negative waves. Love the "why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here" line!!!!! Plus the "drinking wine eating cheese" segment when he describes Telly Savalas' character as "definitely anti-social". Priceless!!!
El prota es gay y además se pasó todo el rodaje drogandose XD menudo ejemplo para las tropas americanas, oajalá que todos ellos fueran como él y EEUU perdiera todas las guerras de ahora en adelante!
The scene where we get introduced to Oddball is still one of the most memorable to me- Making out with a cute French girl using a Nazi flag as a bed sheet. . .
Oh man, I love this movie! I bet I have watched it 40 times. The DVD I have is awesome quality. This movie really has to be one of the best ever - heck, just look athe cast - AWESOME!!!!!
Also he says it's a 76mm. That's bs. The turrets and guns of the 76mm and 75mm(which is odball's) are much different. BUT the tank in the background of the scene where OB tells Kelly about the engine etc is a 76(w) (76mm) sherman.
The thing about this character is that he is acing like a hippie in the second world war. It's kind of ridiculous when you think about it. I don't think many guys in WWII were going around saying "BABY" and "MAN."
Excellent video, congratulations! One of those movies that makes you wonder how Hollywood has changed for worse in the past 20 years. Why can't they make smart comedies like this any more? Does the stupid audience outnumber the smart one that badely?
Up there as best WW2 characters in movies including Lt.Speirs( Played Guy Pearce from Band of Brothers), Col. Landa aka The Jew Hunter played by Christoph Waltz in Inglorious Bastards) Amon Goeth(Ralph Fiennes) and Oskar Schindler(Liam Nesson( from Schindler's List and Donald Sutherland as odd ball in Kelly's heroes
What impresses me about Sutherland's role as Oddball, is that you never get the feeling that you're watching somebody act. It's as if he's simply being himself.
