  • They use up oxygen unfortunately. If someone burns gasoline or kerosene in it it will wreck the catalyzer head. If this happens, remove the head, clean out the wick and tank with denatured alcohol, and soak the the head with denatured alcohol, then light it in an open space and burn off the alcohol, if it's contaminated it will burn yellow/orange at first, then turn blue as the residues burn off. you must have adequate ventilation to use this.

  • I have one of these baby and yep it does work well but mine doesn't release any smell thought.

  • Looks like some kind of weird 70's cake saver :-)

  • could you do a another review since you have had it a while?

  • @KJ4TEE to be honest I keep it as a backup, it heats very well, but when it gets low or runs out of fuel, it stinks really bad, so as long as you dont run it out of fuel, your good.

  • This a great emergency heater. However as was said before, Coleman stopped producing them due to several deaths in tent and confined spaces due to aspyxiation. I think I spelled it right.

Please please use only in a well vented space. I know this is true because I almost lost it myself. The heater eats oxygen and you don't realize it until it's too late...

  • Hehehe... That is great... I have the red version of that in my basement... Place it inside a milk crate so that you don't brush against it in your sleep... And a full tank will last well into the next morning.

  • There is a reason why these were discontinued.

Also there is a reason why we don't see anyone have these anymore and why you got this one for free.

I highly recommend taking great caution using this.

This product would never pass safety regulations on today's standards.

  • so its safe to use this in a tent, the carbon monoxide wont build up

  • Nice find man! that would be great for ice fishing!!

  • what is white gas ever heard of it 5*

  • same thing you put in your MSR stoves and such

  • i never heard of it is it like a car gas or oil burner still lost :(

  • Its also called Coleman fuel...

Its a water clear variant of gasoline, naptha is another name. I guess in the UK they call it panel wipe.

  • Oh my, just blow out the flame after you see the surface catch enough of that red sparkly glow it gets, you don't need to waste all that fuel and time waiting for it to go out by itself (15 minutes, holy sh,;!) .

  • That would be a nice addition for the BOV gear in winter, or even car camping perhaps. Great find.

  • People are selling the equipment I've been collecting for 2-3 years...nice score.

  • it was the guy I got the rainbarrels from for a dollar, he saw me looking at it, and said if i gave it a good home i could have it. Good people.

  • how long will it last on one fueling?

  • i havent run it that long, I will have to try it out this winter

  • It might help with the fumes if you put a pot of water on top of it while it's running.

  • Do you do your outdoor videos at your house? or is it a retreat? looks pretty quiet.

  • its my backyard. usually pretty quiet.

  • Nice find dude..

  • Do you think you could boil some water on top of that thing?

  • I almost tried it but had to go that day. I will have try later
