just watching this made me nervous i dont care how harmless some spiders can be i dont want one on me, not even a daddy long leg let alone this big thing ahh
Notice how clumsy they are when not on their web. This is because they spend their entire short life on their web and nowhere else. Watch one scurry towards a bug caught in its web, they are fast! Now look at it struggle to walk on your hand..
I'll tell you what.. I am terrified of spiders, and all insects for that matter. But I watched this video, and was very pleased. I dont harm anything so innocent. This is just an awesome video, and gives me a different outlook on some of the things I am afraid of. I only turned away at the beginning!! :]
The venom of the Orb Weaver is potent, but not dangerous to humans. Its venom is a neurotoxin similar to that of the black widow. Its venom is not near as potent.
Orb weavers are reluctant to bite unless you smash em. Symptoms are usually negligible or mild local pain, numbness and swelling, with redness and possibly blisters forming. Occasionally nausea and dizziness can occur after a bite. Any pain should go away within 24 hours. :) but i would freak holding em anyway
Show some respect for these spiders, They eat other bugs that are considered pets like mosquitos, grasshoppers, and any other annoyance that flys or hops around. Bear in mind there just as afraid of you as you are of them. Imagine a giant sky scraper sized animal pokeing at you what would you do? Be nice and theyll be nice back, its a value of what us adults call respect.
I had one living on my backyard fence last year. Huge and amazing spiders with AMAZING web structure... I sure wish i could get it to get on my hand... but I'm too scared of them fangs LOL
I'm amazed at how docile she was. You can also tell that moving around isn't all that normal for her. We used to have those near our house and after watching them wrap and kill grasshoppers, I never thought for an instant one would tolerate that kind of treatment.
I've had jumping spiders drink from my hand, but those are only ones I'll try to handle. Childhood trauma FTL.
Unfortunately when you post something on Youtube you are going to get idiots. The video is amazing and really shows the the detail of the spider and how it moves. This was nice for those of us fascinated by spiders but would never in a million years let it crawl on us. I love your watch by the way!
@k1llj0ysrampag3 This isn't fake retard, maybe go look outside and put an awesome Creature like this one on your hand, and maybe you'll see how wrong you are
i caught one of these a little while back.... i wanted to kill it because i hate spiders, but i researched it, and i gained a whole new respect for it. so i let it go in my garden, as terrified as i was, and as freaky as it looks, it felt like i did a good thing :)
I love your video, and your spider. While not a spider fan by any means, I have fallen for an Argiope that has taken up residence outside one of my breakfast nook areas, and sometimes I just watch her for hours.
I don't understand how someone can look at that and think "fear"
IT CAN'T EVEN HURT YOU
if it bit you it you'd be like "oh what was that? a mosquito?" and it wouldn't unless you provoked it for a good amount of time...even black widows take some coaxing before they'll bite you
beneficial spider that has no aggressive tendencies.just wants to be left alone, and will never harm a human.may look monstrous but is a very placid arachnid.worry more about the black or brown widows, and the brown recluse.i work in the pest control industry, and as much as spiders may look unpleasant they can be very beneficial to reducing the insect population around your home.SO THERE.lol

@cichlid62 - Ha - Alright, alright! Just to put to rest all these watch comments - let it be know that I'm now the proud owner of a handsome and duct-tape free Casio F91W.
Not sure what I was thinking or not thinking with that monstrosity of a watch up there...
@Wes919 Let her hang out. They're harmless, and every evening, they make a new web. It's wonderful to watch! When I was a kid, a large barn spider of some sort built her web in the back door way leading to out back porch. It took up the top 1/4 of the door way, but we liked having her catch moths and bugs that would normally fly into our house in the summer evenings. We named her Eliza.
Omg I got so scared when I saw a video of this spider near a guys house he was filming it, then I see this and see it's a safe spider and doesn't bite.. so I would leave it alone if I ever saw one near my house or something. You should mail the spider somewhere somewhere warm, like florida.. I bet it'd be so happy there.
I would LOVE to have something like THIS sneak in my home, rather than the all too common appearances of Hobo Spiders. Found one under my pillow once. Will not forget that experience any time soon.
We have Black-and-Yellows in Massachusetts but I don't think I've seen one this big before. Spiders like this are great because they keep pesky insects at bay and add their own color to the flower garden.
Living in AZ, the only spiders I've seen have been sun spiders, cellar spiders, jumping spiders, and the occasional tarantula, but never anything this beautiful <3

@forgottenmaz Ah, not very... This spiders aren't dangerous for us, and they aren't aggressive. You can do the same thing without great difficulty: keep your hands open and move slowly, don't tighten the spider between your fingers...
@Scioneer Nephilia is bigger than this, usually not aggressive like Argiope class, but the venom of Nephilia class is dangerous, not lethal but strong. Nephilia spiders are not aggressive, but they can be umpredictable: be careful in handling, or if you don't fell safe, don't try.
