even i can climb without a saftey hardnest or rope, a tower that stands 2,000 ft tall or more. u women which are called men have to have it. ropes don't save your ass if you fall 2,000 ft from a tower!

I would love to work in Europe stacking towers and adding lines and antennas.. I used to use a rock climbing harness about 10 years ago working on towers.. it was a lot easier to work in rather than lugging around a 50lb Exofit... might not seem safe to some but its my person choice..

I no longer work in the industry but I do respect the rope access workers and the things they do. It was a lot of fun working in this field. Challenging and rewarding. Also the road trips to the working sites were a treat!

The microwaves from the small dish antennas are utterly harmful for humans. However, we only built the pylons - just working with heavy loads but no communication gear were on them as we erected them.

There were other guys who worked on that part.

I completely support the use of PPE, but leave these guys alone. They're doing a job in their own country at their own risk and apparently getting the job done. Aside form some modern equipment and training I don't see any difference in what their doing than the guys who built and service the "Cellular" towers where I work here in the States. These Romanians aren't confined by unions, OSHA and lawyers. I didn't hear them brag either.

We worked with what we had and that was it! I know it wasn't safe enough but we just did it. And again I must STRESS this: I do believe we are so much better than most folks who are so full of gear - we can outwork them anytime (now I'm bragging).

We didn't pose as professionals, we just made those pylons with as little gear as we had. However, I bet we can outperform many professionals.

It's true that we didn't have helmets and other protective equipment but that's not the point. We simply made something with very little and we're not ashamed of it.

No problem man! I have a lot of respect for all rope access workers out there and I also believe it is necessary to be over cautious when hanging in the void.

West standards don't always apply in former communist countries so that's why we didn't have all the proper gear for our work.

been working with hungarian RATs last year in budapest, the devices they are using remind to the stoneage, picked from caving mountaining and sailing..... but at least they make it!!!

they`r heaving more fun as our fisat or irata trained cracks and at last they earn more money as a surgeon workong there.

Listen to all the level 3s and "experienced" ones goin on about safety, and how unprofessional this is. I dont trust any fucker to check my kit! I've double checked it and also technique from the first day on my ropes course. These guys look as if they cherish life, I don't think they are being foolish . they are happy at work. Unprofessional,the blame lies with the employer.They probably do not have any experience on jobs where safety is priorty.They r confused with playing on ropes for fun,and working on ropes for money.Its quite acceptable to risk your life for free on your own time,but when it comes to working, it must be done safely, first to protect your life, and secondly, to protect the livelyhood of everyone in industry.
