  • Not one of their best. Richard Hawley is a genius though.

  • I am doing a dance to this :DD

  • One of my favourite bass lines.

  • Painful

  • @hydfawr in a good way?

  • guys face at 4.12 ! ha ha . love it.

  • its good to see a band enjoying themselves. and what a band. :) class

  • this guys are amazing O.O

  • omg. I think it made me having a musical orgasm

  • great great band!! Fantastic song!

  • @TheNameIsEarle1

I know you're confused because it doesn't have autotune like the music you like, but I assure you: it's great.

  • @TheNameIsEarle1 you're out of your bloody mind pal

  • @mikeyb39 am i really

  • fukin good.

  • mind blowing

  • The start sounds a bit like "Picture Box" for all you 70's kids..

  • I am so glad i found this live concert on youtube

  • Elbow and BBC Orchestra was the greatest idea anybody ever had. EVER.

  • some guitar tone!

  • I prefer this whole album done live than the studio version! It's magic!

  • @ChristopherDone so do i! i heard about this album live yesterday and listen 3 or 4 times since then!

  • @07123me that´s the beauty of music...

  • brilliant!

  • this is a great tune that's all ive got to say

  • Lol, one of the more awkward back-up vocal hooks. Freakin' love this song, though. Perfect for gambling.

  • great band thanks to the girl who made me discover it !!

  • Elbow + Doves = best band in the world. Piss all over "the pretentious ones."

  • what an amazing album

  • "too many times we've been postally pipped" I love that line

  • Its about fixing a horse race.

  • Perfect harmony,impressive...

  • No one "missed it"......it's supposed to be like that. The slight delay has an effect on your heart. Listen to it again. it's like a surge. Shouldn't even need explaining.

  • "The Fix is In", basically means,"we're fucked." All the fundamental parts of the major plan have been played.....and fallen for.......

  • what does "the fix is in"mean.

    thanks in advance.

  • "The fix is in" for ex. on a match or race when someone influences it in a way that they know what the outcome will be, like someone betting in a boxing match knowing that one of the guys will go down on the 3rd round, the match is said to be fixed.

  • ok thanks luismg9!

  • No it does not mean, "we're fucked." It is like rigging a race to where you already won though noone else knows it. When you say something is fixed it just means it's rigged.

  • @Mattyb667 in the small picture it does apply to a horse race, but this is talking about something else. Politicians, the elite....listen again

  • vino di vici = wine of victory

  • I believe the line is 'Vino di Vici will flow like a river in spring' referring to Italian wine.

  • er he's refering to a type of wine flowing in like a river!! he doesn't say L Da V

  • i think he says something like Vino De Vichi, which is a type of italian wine

  • I like other commentators watched this broadcast over and over again when the Beeb put it out on it's digital channels. Absolutely overwhelming in every aspect! I'd never heard of them but, at 60 I've heard an awful lot and it's desperately difficult to impress me! All round, Elbow are the best I've seen.

In my youth group & orchestra always meant a group posing and a bored orchestra. Now the orchestras are brought up on rock and they get it. Chantage 'get it' too.

  • esto es bueno

    nunca lo habia escuchado

    wow nuevo grupo favorito :D

  • so awsome. :)

  • that´s so cool !

  • Sometimes people feel the need to validate their their own perceptions by commenting on an art form they clearly dont understand. Any craft is an expression of that individuals ability to communicate their talent and qualifies as art. It is after all in the beholder.

  • oops catchy

  • what you mean catcy like britney ... or maybe engages a few more brain cells if available

  • well - living in bulgaria - i can't get over such prissy morons - relax - spukonoe-. it's a clever song about betting on horses in the uk - full stop

  • Why are the choir so shit?

  • Bananaman2nd... The tune is of a 'Mediterranean' style (see: theycameatnight's comment/"bond"), incorporating Iberian and Balkan influence (ie: Celtic). Listen to Balkan women's choir and Scotish women's weaving chants to "get it".. It's also a bit tongue and cheek... Not "shit".

  • No matter how much technical Music talk you put in your point I still don't think they're good.Like how some people think Earle Brown was a genius whereas I just think he was a pretencious shite.Or how when an artist paints a canvas blue to signify serenity or something and makes millions from it when a struggling artist who is actually good at drawing or painting is forced to sell his/her work for breadline amounts of money.Kind of the same thing I suppose, plus I needed to vent, nothing personal

  • You mean like Coldplay 'playing' demure 'beneath U2' to perhaps pump their own capital(?)..

I made assay of the, obvious, roots of the sound and the band's intentional use of it (Balkan-ish choir CAN be grating). No 'spin' there.

TRUE, life has it's 'marketeers', but Elbow are real journeymen conversely stifled by pop industry.

It's a choice vs. chance vs. determinacy world. Craft is not always good art. Brown was of a genre to coerce spontaneity. If not him, another would've tried by now.

  • Hmmm...."stifled by pop industry"? If that's defined by a group of musicians being utterly true to themselves, not having to compromise their craft or art or whatever, then yes, I suppose you could say that about Elbow. But "stifled" is not a word that comes to mind when speaking of them.

    At All.

  • Agreed.. "a group of musicians being utterly true to themselves" must be persistent, (eighteen years!), as the commercial ply, in part, is still the vehicle that brings record art to most ears. The band is indeed, not 'stifled' within. The 'industry' is the 'stifler' / deprive. See them Live, if you haven't.

  • They were off beat

  • rofl...off beat? your comment is off beat

  • nice come back lol. It is a bit off beat with the big choir and orchestra parts. the choir is a bit off.

  • I see what you mean, but I have no doubt that it was sung as perfectly as Guy intended.

  • agreed they miss it by just a hair

  • If you listen to this track on the actual cd it sounds just like that. That sort of vocal is intentional. Listen to the other performances from this concert and you'll see a better example from the choir.

  • richard hawley solo albums are all excellent !

and elbow probably the best band around

  • yeah and they have been around years!

  • this song always reminds me of an old james bond film from the 60's cause of the slickness to it :D

  • amazing

  • the fix! Love this song, Love this band

  • this is one of the best bands around and there english.

    wicked song

  • Love this song, love the entire album, Elbow are awesome and Mr. R. Hawley is not bad either.

  • @finners99 o yes

  • De las mejores canciones que he escuchado ultimamente!!!!

  • For those who haven't heard it, listen to Coles Corner by Richard Hawley. Stunning.

  • @jh132 Don't forget "Open Up Your Door." Not many people know he's the same guy!?!?!?!?!
