if the amazon attacks, and you dont know why... please people try to read everything what u can get before having one of these.!

its the hormons. google it..! and the u have to just go along withit and try not to do things wich feeds the attacks. read about it.. a lot!! everything u get. theres many methods to calm down the bird.

I take him/her out at least 2-5 times a day Depends if something is wrong or he is grumpy He nibbles my hands, fingers, cheek and tries to groom my hair. I am teaching him "gentle" when he gets a little too rough. The worst injury I have ever gotten from him was a small bite on my thumb when we first got him. If anyone else tries to even go near the cage, his eyes flash, and he gets real angry, and tries to get at the person through the bars... can ya PM me? I need some advice on him ^.^'

I have a bird similar... don't know much about birds, but mine has been neglected and ignored until s/he came here. I am looking for someone to help with his behavior, but no luck... he likes me (I think) and attacks everyone else...

@RasenganRyu - i have a yellow nape amazon and behavior is a big issue as well, um you have to get him used to being around other people all the time um.. they dont have to pick him up or anything just their presents is enough let the bird go to them the other people need to be calm a quiet around him using low tone voices and not making fast jaring movements.

If your cats get all excited when they see a little bird around, better not. I think the bird would be so terrified that it'll be sick.

Unless you keep your bird caged the whole time, which is not a very healthy thing to do because it gets territorial and unfriendly.

So maybe before you think of getting a bird, make sure your cats are trained not to attack little birds.
