This incident is mostly on Alou. If he doesn't blow up and completely lose his cool and simply walks back to his position and plays ball, this becomes a NOTHING ISSUE. When things went downhill, this wouldn't have been seen as the turning point in the game and the cameras wouldn't have focused on Bartman so much and messed his life up
But the fact that Alou goes off the way he did and then the Cubs get blown out and then end up losing game 7 all of a sudden its all Bartman's fault.
Thats what happens when Fans sit within inches of the playing field. If it wasn't him, it would have been one of the other 9 fans reaching for the ball. Maybe Alou should have called it, lol.
the sad thing is this guy basically had o fall off the face of the earth because stupid ass Cubs fans are idiots...then again most of Illinois populous is..
lay off the bartman ok you guys? matter of fact, he wasn't the ONLY one to try and get the stupid ball, other fans tried to get the ball too, and im willing to bet that every single person on youtube, facebook, and around the country, would wanna get a peice on trying to catch a foul ball or a homerun. no matter what game is played, teams are playing, or situation, fact of the matter is, everybody makes mistakes, even steve bartman, so cut the guy some slack, he's just another baseball fan
@SnipingPug56 Yes he wouldve. Watch it again. That being said, Im not blaming bartman for the cubs losing the game. I believe that wouldve only been the second out in the 8th inning.
Mpr, you stole my line...lol..he/she has responded on almost all steve bartman vids...must be someone from espn...any attention is better than no attention..
@AppleCrisp233 really? malicious intent? how stupid are you? what fan sees a fly ball coming towards him and thinks, "Hey, there's a foul ball. I'm gonna steal it from Alou coming waaay over here to get it, even though i'm a cubs fan, and i can't see Alou! AHAHAHAHAHA i'm gonna change my life forever to not even catch this ball! Take that Alou!"
I feel sorry for this guy, he had to be Chicago's scape goat all because he wanted to catch a foul ball like any one of us would. If it was any other guy that deflected the ball it probably wouldn't have effected the emotions of the stadium that much but since it was the dorky looking guy with the headphones on, it was easy to place the blame on him. It's a shame really.
Everyone claiming that Bartman didn't ruin the game for the Cubs, that they would have lost anyway, is missing the point. It's a friggin game. Even if the loss was entirely Bartman's fault, if you want to hurt or kill him for that, you have severe mental problems.
Family Guy hasn't been funny in years. Most of their episodes have random tangents that last half of the episode that aren't that funny. The first few seasons were okay and they did have a few hilarious episodes, but its time to cancel this show. Now to the Bartman aspect of this, it wasn't his fault. A bunch of people reached for that foul ball. It's a natural reaction to don't care who you are or what you said you would have done. It's easy to Monday Morning Quarterback on it.
The Cubs just sucked that inning! Why isn't anyone getting on their poor pitching in the 8th inning or the botched double play ball by Gonzalez? I am not saying all, but a lot these Cubs fans need to grow up and think rationally. They need to look at the real reasons why they lost that game. I understand their frustration and pain year in and year out, but they really need to leave Bartman alone. This unfortunate incident could have happened to anyone.
You can blame Bartman all you want, but it was the players that blew this game. Alou blowing up and the players losing their focus. Alex Gonzalez missing the double play ball. The team completely imploded. Even if they did go to the World Series, they were facing the Yankees.
@redmustang03 Funny, the MARLINS went to that WS and faced the Yanks...certainly you have to feel like the Cubs would have done the same thing to that lame ass weak ass no pitching staff excuse for a Yankees team....
@xStoRMxTricKz, don't forget the Red Sox choked too but it was Grady Little's fault to leave in Pedro too long and because of that he ran out of gas and blew a 3 run lead.
@redmustang03 The winner of this series would've easily handled the Yankees that yr, as the Marlins did. That Yankee team was not as strong as these 2 National league teams. The Cubs would've just as easily beat the Yankees in the WS.
@adamriordanlovespunk, don't be stupid. If Bartman didn't get that ball someone right next to him would have gotten that. They were all reaching for that ball and Bartman was on the losing end. The Cubs lost on there and most the blame goes to Alex Gonzalez. That's who you need to blame. Messing up that double play ball. Then not Baker not going out to calm down Prior. After that Prior became useless the injures came and bit him bad and now he's nothing.
@redmustang03 You really can't blame anyone, thats all I meant. But still it doesnt matter who would of tried to catch the ball, what matters is someone tried and if I was the cubs pitcher I probabally would of lost my focus and got a little more nervous and just lost my control.
@adamriordanlovespunk, that's just shows how mentally fragile the Cubs were because it went straight to Prior, with his nerves rattled he thew bad pitches and the rest was history. What happened to Bartman should never ever happen to a human being so now the Cub fans can live with painful moment until they win the World Series whatever that is. At least the Sox got there before they choked before 2004.
This aint even funny...... get off this guys nuts...... i wanna cry everytime i see the video of him being escorted off the field and fans are trying to kill him!!!!!
