I was again made aware that we can never really know who will or won't embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, and of the love the Savior has for each and every individual who ever has or will live on earth. The e-mail illustrated the power that comes when the Spirit is with us and testified of the inherent dynamism of the Book of Mormon.
A recent email from a sister missionary serving in Brazil reminded me of the worldwide presence of the gospel of Jesus Christ and its expansion in many places around the world.
So the Egyptian meaning of the pictograms was actually irrelevant. The real question was how a Canaanite scribe would have interpreted the picture himself. Viewed in this light, Joseph Smiths interpretation hits the ball out of the park.
But no, there was never an opportunity for anyone outside of Joseph Smith to translate the scrolls themselves.
Recent Mormon scholarship has answered this sufficiently by simply declaring that the pictures were simply utilized and cut-and-pasted by a Canaanite author who used them to tell the story of Abraham. This kind of borrowing of imagery was a common practice in ancient cultures.
The scrolls themselves were destroyed in a fire. Only small scraps remain. Of the scraps that do remain the hieroglyphic pictures included in Mormon scripture are included. Someone took these pictograms to a bunch of Egyptologists of various stature back in the 1960s. They declared the pictures to be not about Abraham as the LDS read claims, but about an Egyptian funeral ritual.
Hewbrews were NOT MONOTHEISTIC nor were the EARLY CHRISTIANS as we see by the division amognst the MANY sects in the first 3 centuries - THOSE ARE "FACTS" whether you want to accept it or not matters not to me..I just laugh at your ignorance.
Why does he keep saying "papyra"? The plural of papyrus is papyri. Papyra isn't a word.

Youre actually wrong about the Book of Abraham.
The scrolls themselves were destroyed in a fire. Only small scraps remain. Of the scraps that do remain the hieroglyphic pictures included in Mormon scripture are included.
