the reason why honda isnt selling any type r models here is because americans arent willing to pay wat they r worth, fact: honda lost about $4k for every integra type r they sold in the US, if they bring the RR over im pretty sure they will lose alot more than just $4k, the reason the RR is so damn expensive is because of all the Mugen(top of the line) products on it, i mean the mugen wheels alone r worth above $2000, not to mention the tuning, suspension, engine components, and brake components

i think part of the reason they don't sell them in the US is cause of the US's strict emissions. it costs the manufacturers like 2 million for each model to get them to meet US emission laws.

@CrazyAsianMan18 Got my FD2R or Civic Type R a few months ago. Superbly happy with this car especially it's handling. Good car for attacking turbo cars on the corners. Simple mods like intake, header, and exhaust is good enough to give some turbo cars a run for their money on the track. You can really hear the engine and exhaust since there's no sound insulating materials just a simple piece of thin carpet.
Honda of canada and America has a slight different approach in marketing. The people in the US do not care for the type-r thus they did not sell it here. People in the US do not care for a 20hp gain from the SI with no navi and no bluetooth. In the case of the mugen, it is more of a collectors car. No matter if it's jdm or usdm. they are both unique in their own way and is one of a kind.
the civic type r is awesome. if they brought this to america in the beginning, i would have bought it over my civic si. and yes, the civic si is better a 4 door sedan. its how honda produced it. longer chassis, more stability, its how it was meant to handle. japan can handle the daily driver race image, america is too busy cramming 1/4 pounder hamburgers and v8 coupes up its ass get over it. or buy a fucking 370z.

The reason Honda is not selling the Type R in the US is probably because the "Ricer" image it acquired by idiots who don't know anything about tuning and thinks that stickers add 5 HP to their car.

In Japan and Europe, older customers buy Type Rs. They can afford it. A type R here would be $30k or more for a FWD (which isn't perceived as sporty in America). This RR for example is around $50k. Look at how poorly the Mugen Civic was received.
@vivalarey619 Think about it, the Type R would cost even more. The Mugen Civic only had suspension tuning, rims, and a body kit. The Type are has all of that + engine work. It would cost more then the American Mugen Civic. I don't think many Americans would be paying 35k + for a FWD Civic despite how bad ass they are :(

@decptcon The American Auto Industry could not allow for an import to be better than them. That's why they made the $110,000 ZR-1 corvette because the $75,000 GT-R put the $60,000 Z06 to shame at the Autobahn. If it's a big spit in the face (like corvette) they will dish out an even faster machine because we are one of the richest nations world wide, other wise, the American market and the EPA will be like "No thanks, our market is just not interested in your design at this time."

@CrazyAsianMan18 Got my FD2R or Civic Type R a few months ago. Superbly happy with this car especially it's handling. Good car for attacking turbo cars on the corners. Simple mods like intake, header, and exhaust is good enough to give some turbo cars a run for their money on the track. You can really hear the engine and exhaust since there's no sound insulating materials just a simple piece of thin carpet.

Honda of canada and America has a slight different approach in marketing. The people in the US do not care for the type-r thus they did not sell it here. People in the US do not care for a 20hp gain from the SI with no navi and no bluetooth. In the case of the mugen, it is more of a collectors car. No matter if it's jdm or usdm. they are both unique in their own way and is one of a kind.

the civic type r is awesome. if they brought this to america in the beginning, i would have bought it over my civic si. and yes, the civic si is better a 4 door sedan. its how honda produced it. longer chassis, more stability, its how it was meant to handle. japan can handle the daily driver race image, america is too busy cramming 1/4 pounder hamburgers and v8 coupes up its ass get over it. or buy a fucking 370z.

This car isn't in the US. It won't pass US regulations and there would be few buyers for this. Not even europe gets it. This was only for Japan. your friend doesn't have it, so long as he lives in the US.

The reason Honda is not selling the Type R in the US is probably because the "Ricer" image it acquired by idiots who don't know anything about tuning and thinks that stickers add 5 HP to their car.

@vivalarey619 The Civic Si in the US has the same engine and transmission as Japan's Type R. The power difference is not because of a stupid "ricer image" It's because Japan has no emissions regulations. HOA detuned the car to comply with US specs.

I really don't know why, the emissions should be the same and airbags should be standard, etc. I really dont know why.

@vivalarey619 No, the reason is Honda believes there is no market for it. The price point would be a bit too high for the young demographic that buys Honda Civics in America. In Japan and Europe, older customers buy Type Rs. They can afford it. A type R here would be $30k or more for a FWD (which isn't perceived as sporty in America). This RR for example is around $50k. Look at how poorly the Mugen Civic was received.

@vivalarey619 Think about it, the Type R would cost even more. The Mugen Civic only had suspension tuning, rims, and a body kit. The Type are has all of that + engine work. It would cost more then the American Mugen Civic. I don't think many Americans would be paying 35k + for a FWD Civic despite how bad ass they are :(
