I think he wanted Ginny to be with Harry, as in the end of the 5th book he tells Ginny to "choose somebody better next time" and looks at harry as he says it. Also in the 6th book Ginny says that Ron said he would rather it was harry than Michael or Dean. So i don't think he KNEW it would happen but I think he wanted it to, get me?
