  • Nice catch, great location!

  • how long was this freight train?

  • @1extremeguy - sorry, I can't remember. That video was taken 11 months ago and I don't keep records of car counts.

  • Now that's a smoke show!

  • very nice video! Awesome catch! 5*****s!

  • Thanks!

  • Great Shot! 5*'s

  • Thanks!

  • Thats a real nice shot by the water and all! This is going in my favorites.

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :-)

  • Great Video!

I tried chasing PAR between Rigby & Exeter, NH one week and had no luck.

    Any Advice

    Great Catch.

  • Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately I don't have any advice... I caught this train completely by accident!

  • Awesome ! Love the filming spot and the horn. Once before I caught the Downeaster, I caught a Pan Am, and another time I caught another freight, and an MBTA, but no Downeaster. Some times railfanning is a hit or miss kind of thing. 5 stars! :)

  • I know exactly what you mean. It's definitely hit or miss. I considered myself very lucky that I caught a freight that day!

  • I love the widecabs. Unfortunately, none of them are equipped with cab signalling, so it is highly unlikely that one will ever find its way down here to Connecticut.

Great Video (and scenery)- definately a favorite.

  • Yeah, you guys down in CT kind of get the short end of the stick when it comes to variety of PAR motive power. :-\ I heard a rumor that either the 350 or 351 broke a crankshaft recently... if it ends up being too expensive to fix, maybe they'll tear out the cab signal equipment and put it in a different unit. I'm sure you wouldn't mind seeing something from outside the 350-354 series! ;-)

  • Actually, I have gotten so used to the 350-353 (MEC 354 does not make annual appearances in CT) that it would not seem right without one of them down here.

Last February MEC 379 made her way here with the 350, and before that MEC 344 led EDPL with MEC 353 in July of 2008.

What I really miss are the days when Guilford would need to send down two or three engines to handle the traffic volume. There used to be a lot more business on this line compared to today.

  • i saw b&m 327 a couple days ago!

  • very nice! favortied!!!

  • Thanks man!

  • Very nice! I just put it in one of my playlists.

  • Glad you liked it!

  • You bet! That was some great panning, & an awesome scene. It almost looked like it came right out of a movie/documentary, or something.

  • Thanks! My little point&shoot cam has only a very basic video function (can't zoom during video capture), but overall I thought it came out pretty well. I didn't have my tripod with me, but I keep an inexpensive monopod under the seat of my truck and that definitely helps to keep things steady. I wasn't even expecting a freight; I was there to watch the Downeaster go by, and as luck would have it, the freight was waiting on the siding. I never have that kind of luck! Was a nice change of pace!
