Classic Sega games often referenced each other.

People have asked how to barrel roll: hold one direction and quickly slam the stick to the opposite side. But it doesn't always work for dodging missiles. Triggering afterburner was like this but with the throttle IIRC.

Obvioiusly this game was heavily inspired by Top Gun, but I never noticed how much the BGM at 7:00 resembles Mighty Wings by Cheap Trick.

they need to re-release this game on on like XBL and PSN or something. And not the downgraded Genesis version, no they need to release the much more superior arcade version. Who else agrees?

Try using the Y-axis of the left analog stick or you can try mapping it to either the left or right trigger buttons.

Yes I have. It just takes some tweaking to get it to work to your standards.

yeah i member how its done in the arades but with keys the barrel roll aint seeming to work which is really dissapointing for me also the after burn ,ill play around with them slider options so althou havent a clue what im doing,barrel roll and aferburn re a nmust to get the old kick outa this game

Hmm.. well I was using a ps3 controller with a usb adapter. everthing maps well to the analog and digital pad. maybe thats what you need? the keyboard is your enemy in a game like this that relies on analog input.

I think its when you jink left then right or the other way very quickly. very annoying if you dont know how to control it properly. The afterburner requires some sort of 'slider' to use properly.
