This is actually a pretty okay game. Compared to Duke Nukem Advance or any of the Ecks vs. Sever or DOOM games, though, it's crap.
But if you really wanna play a shitty first-person shooter on Game Boy Advance, go play Medal of Honor: Underground. It's like the video game embodiment of baby puke.
This played at a significantly better framerate on an actual GBA. I had this game, and enjoyed it well enough. The controls were a bit wonky, but if you took the time to get used to them, it was an interesting experience. It's the only proper, 3d rendered FPS I know of on the system. The rest used false 3d engines a la doom or duke 3d.
@Mistraker I'm pretty sure that the game is using another 2.5D rendering engine, just like with DOOM or DN3D. I see a boxy 3D model every once in a while, but the rest is clearly not real 3D.
@Archem2 Nah, it's a proper 3d engine. It's not limited to displaying polygons at certain angles and so forth, like Duke 3d (which had a really nice false 3d engine). If you saw some of the later levels, you'd see what I mean. The way the earlier levels look, I could see thinking it was a false 3d engine, as primitive as it is. It's so very blocky because the GBA doesn't have enough horsepower to do much more than that. The framerate wasn't great as it was.
@Mistraker In fact, I remember wondering why they bothered using a true 3d engine for it, as it would have run a lot quicker with a false 3d engine. The version of Duke 3d for the GBA ran much quicker, and was a lot more fun, to be honest.
Ya. Had the DS had texture filtering and 8 MB of RAM, they could have remade N64 games easily on the DS. I would've killed for a Super Smash Bros. port. Hopefully the next system after the DSi will have better graphics.
It is true that there are N64 Emulators for the PSP; However, the most current version can only run a handful of games, and only a couple at full speed.
Jesus fucking christ. I had my volume up full, checking my MSN during the first part of the vid when suddenly the James Bond theme started. Nearly had a heart attack.
Actually, the controls work surprisingly well. ESPECIALLY when aiming. it's not too sensitive and not too sticky. You'd have to play the game to get the full effect.
@bengalisch Although Wolfenstein 3d turned out very well for the GBA, but yes trying to make a GBA version of a Game on XBOX or PS2 or something like that doesn't seem to turn out such a goood game on this platform if its a first person shooter.

Actually I think the GBA had 32 bit not 16 bit if I'm correct. Because I believe the GB Color had 16 bit, but GBA had 32 bit.

lol all i know is that the psp has more proccessing power than a ps2
turoturothegreat 2 years ago
DS is 64 bit, it's much more advanced than N64. look at Super Mario 64 DS, the DS version had all of the original and more!
sonicspeed011 2 years ago
The DSi, It should have had 128 bit and texture filtering.
Mario6667777 2 years ago
That's why I want N64 portable, I noticed when playing Super Mario 64 DS. The graphics are very different.

The graphics kinda reminds me of doom on snes for some reason.
FalconKPD 2 years ago
because the GBA has the same power as the SNES. 32 bit.
It's not until the 64 bit DS that the handhled FPS's look decent.
FalconTalon22 2 years ago

By the way, nice name!
