  • i've got $150,000 i want one

  • some HE rounds and a few RPGS and this thing would be unstoppable

  • Warthog from twisted metal anyone?

  • one quick question, it looks liable to tip over onto its back, what happens then?

  • if you're to take that into combat than maybe need to consider how the fuck you can both remove a branch off the camera and wipe shit off it like sticky tar or glue or someshit cos if i was the enemy all id be doing is spraying the cameras with something that cant be wiped off, easy

  • @NZsquadron first Rippy is the most agile vehicle ever fielded... good luck catching it before u get run over. Second, as u get 50yrds from it holding ur paint can, u'll have 100 steel balls pass through ur body.

Notice the Claymore Parimeter defense system? Thirdly, u'll just get shot up by the RWS 240 or 50cal. We can only hope that the enemy will be as dumb as u. Do some research before making comments like this.

  • @southberwick3 haha yar nice comeback :D i was thinking the same :D haha )!!

  • @southberwick3 RPG or a skilled sniper?

  • @BikeMeAustin... hahaha... lets hope the enemy thinks that too;)

  • @southberwick3 they are ? by the way who is buying this ?

  • @NZsquadron pretty sure that if this thing came rippin into some middle eastern city, the people would be dead before they get a chance to grab thier spray cans

  • Are there any videos of the ripsaw being tested in cry arid desert environments?

What about deep un-compacted snow and ice.

  • that seems like a pretty small gun?

  • Music makes it suck :I

  • is somebody know where can i download season one "howe &howe tech" ???

  • I thought I'd point out that you miscreditted the song. The beginning is a cover of the song and band you listed, but is actually Apocalyptica. Also, @solofalcon the Mars Rover is just as big if not bigger than the Ripsaw and it lasted something like 800 days longer than they thought it would.

  • I believe I saw this thing being carried to Aberdeen on a flatbed several months ago while I was on the highway

  • its never the newest weapon

    its the ripsaw ms2

  • ripsaws' rollin coal

  • I WANNA SEE THAT LITTLE BEAST UNLEASH HELL!!

  • Dear Uncle Sugar,

Please accept my request for re enlistment if you let me run this thing.

  • The monitors were all set up wrong .Primary ( forward facing should be @ eye level ,alot bigger with better res.

  • Impressive machine!

  • What if a branch or something similar falls on the front of the ripsaw? then all 3 of the front view cameras are blocked aka your fucked in combat

  • @Tytytucke self destruct? ha

  • @Tytytucke And how do you think other unmanned combat vehicles work, you retard. The branches don't fall on it because the places you would take a tank are not covered in trees. And I highly doubt that you wouldn't have an infantry team nearby when you've got that sort of unmanned artillery rolling around. You fucking idiot.

  • @jthefreakinjames The fault in this vehicle is the position of the cameras. their all centered on the top front of the vehicle where their easily target-able unlike top unmanned combat vehicles, where all the cameras are spread built into the armor and well spread apart. notice how they went to a "forest" to test the ripsaw. it can travel through that environment, but has big a big weakness that prevents in going into snowy, sandy dirty places. For the speed this travels, it might travel blind.

  • @Tytytucke your watching i a video of the ms1 they have updated it. this was designed by two guys in a garage. besides this thing was designed to escort convoys mostly its the only tracked vehicle capible of 75 mph and runs on diesel (the same as hummers). the ms2 is slower (65 mph) but its armored, capable of being repaired in virtually no time. and it can be armed with multiple options. thats a small price to pay. and at the average of $250,000 a piece thats 25:1 vs. the abrams at $6.25 mil

  • @Tytytucke there is a rear view cam... and they can put it in reverse...

  • @Tytytucke you drive over it

  • @Tytytucke then move backward or foward to shake it off

  • @Tytytucke It would be used in coorilation with infantry

  • @Tytytucke

only if you knew about the cameras they use in the military. i have worked on cameras on mraps and buffalo's. those things can take alot. the only reason i have seen them fail is due to some one putting it back together improperly and moisture gets in there. oh and you do need a security clearance to even touch one of those camers. nice try tho

  • @Tytytucke I'd guess the point of this machine is to demonstrate the agile chassis. There are people with more UGV systems experience out there, one small company can't be expected to do everything perfectly just by themselves. Should something like this ever hit actual unmanned combat use, I think a few dozen experts have by then gone through the placement of the cameras.

  • Bloody slow their tanks in iraq go heaps faster than that buvcket of shit. 1 roind from RPG seeya later.

  • good but, high centered, with relative narrow trac, it has got to be able to right itself!

If not, no good in combat. sorry.

  • have about 50 of these boogers coming at your front lines! holy shit,

send em single file, first few hit mines and the rest tear your asses up!

  • how far can that thing go unmanned? or untill the tank goes empty??

  • dude this is howe and howe tech its a show on discovery channel

  • It says yes that is a 'gun' on the top, but there is nothing to move, and it would be impossible to reload and difficult to aim, plus its only a 'gun' what kind of 'gun' is it an MG small cannon? I don't think so!!! It didn't look like anything offensive in the video, and it wouldn't make any sence if it was...

  • Impossible to load thats bullshit In my opinion nothing is impossible the technology we have is far surpassed to even sending a human to war. We have the technology to build a race of warbots that could wipr out the huamn race. Beleive it. So if their is a way and their is a will we can do it. This is awesoem.

  • Spoken like a true idiot, technology doesn't just appear out of nowhere, things have to be thought of and built then implemented, you give no examples, just saying 'technology' well technology doesn't build shit, people and robots made and controlled by people do! I don't think any technological advances can make ammunition yet, my point was when it runs out of ammo, it would be hard to get the ammo to it! and even internal ammo caches would be VERY difficult to engineer and could still jam!!!!!

  • @TacticalSuperRebel No no your wrong wait and see.

  • I understand it is for millitary use but it would be more fun to drive

  • Comment removed

  • dude i love the ripsaw but your video is lame do something else because the music is lame your lame its just lame.

  • a couple of ripsaws ugv combined with a few predators uav drones and you have your very own Blitzkrieg! :D

  • mhhm ,arm dran, sowas gabs bei uns schon vor 60jahren,hieß "goliath"

  • its a Maine thing :)

  • i think howe and howe is awesome, the ripsaw is awesome too. i just watched their new TV show last week about the new guiness world record smallest manned tank and i was amazed at how much explosives they threw at that thing

  • awsome diesel.....

  • Have they actually secured a deal with the U.S army yet? I just watched a programme and it ended with them doing a demo for several army officials on an off road track.

  • first we show the enemy how to build IEDs, now we show them how to build remote vehicles ....it'll be an interesting future.

  • this isn't for the enemy howe and howe tech build for the US

  • Is it RPG proof?

  • @mrsmelzbad do you see any slated armor?

  • some people just like to look for reasons to complain

  • Syndrome by DeathStars and

Termination Bliss by DeathStars. I don't recognize the song at the beginning.

  • @KevinsArmory

    Not Termination Bliss...It's Cyanide :P

  • i got a perfect code name for ripsaw

    r. reconnaissance

    i. in

    p. presice

    s. situations

    a. at

    w. war

  • you mean a break down to make ripsaw a code name?

  • yeah, i think it would be cool

  • ACK Treads not threads LOL woops!

  • wouldnt take much to armor up those threads , wondering what kind of firepower can they mount on it. it looks like it can handle a 40 mm grenade launcher with maybe a set of 60 calibers on a turret. maybe...

  • That's gotta be an interesting ride in the M113...controlling a remote vehicle while bouncing around in the back, lol! An ultimate play on your senses.

  • Yeah, most armies seem to be going for diesel as the fuel of choice for the battlefield, for the reasons stated by DevilDog016. It makes sense but it does mean there´ll be less military surplus stuff with big V8s in for us to buy and play with :(

  • you should sell it to the army an put a gun on it an make it full remote control

    5 out of 5

  • I can't wait until we have an army of these and other robots of different shapes and sizes all controlled by advanced AI for maximum efficiency.

  • Fastest UMV Tank in existence... I think the Apaches are going to need more missiles:)

  • Sweet, I hope it rockin' a Cummins.

  • i wish, it actually has a duramax, which is my last choice of the big three

  • now its time for some armed 1/4 scale versions to put into the caves to kill those taliban bastards!! now i would pay good money for that footage!

  • whats the MPH with the new power plant!

  • The diesel engine is better for vehicles like that.

  • why do you think so? I think benzin is better because the diesel has to stand out higher preasures.

  • Diesel is better because you get more torque at lower rpm. That's why all big trucks and some ships use diesel fuel. Also it's safer 'cause petrol fuel can be lighted easier than diesel (when something goes wrong you can escape).

  • Well 1) diesel engines have alot of torque at the lower RPM scale, so you can go through alot more challenging terrain; 2) Diesel fuel doesn't burn at "room temperature" so it's safer to use in almost any situation; 3) There is no need for spark plugs in a diesel engine - if you go in the water with a gasoline engine and water gets to the spark plugs, it's game over. Plus, diesel engines are more reliable and effective in rough conditions. Not good in cold weather though, the diesel freezes.

  • My birthday is coming up......

  • omg they put a disel engine in it now... all that smoke.. lol the bad guys gonna see it

  • Before they would just here it for 3mi away!

  • Is that Lords of Acid playign in the background

  • apocalyptica...

  • which song is it they covered?

  • their original song

  • a little Front Line Assembly makes any future-weapon demo more entertaing!

  • this is for "armed dissident extraction" missions after we are under martial law. Christ, children, point your testosterone in the right direction! You DON'T want this thing looking for you!

  • nor any other tank

    missed the point

  • the point is if you are holed up in the hills of tennessee, you might be able to hold off an M1A1 tank. Not this badass. It will find you and KEEL you!

  • wow pretty soon we will have unmaned tank squads

  • it was awsome until they unmanned it,, its just too sick to drive that

  • the command vehicle is weirdly reminiscent of the rhino from warhammer 40k. they're almost the same.

  • the command vehicle is a standard M113 APC.

  • Looks like a converted APC

  • this thing

    is

    a

    fucking

    monster

imagine if they attached an actual tank cannon to it

    or a 20mm

    if recoil can be compensated

  • hells yeah, pray baby

  • it was created by to brothers in there 30's and was sold to the military. I saw it in a popular mechanics mag. Pretty cool

  • only a duramax? those engines must be better than i thought- figured theyd be using an international or a cat diesel

  • All those radio signals could be triangulated and an air strike called in on positions!!!

  • It is not radio controlled but computer controlled by encrypted transmissions same as an unmanned aircraft the CIA uses not like a an RC car.

  • and how do you think the "transmissions" are sent to the vehicle? through The Force?

  • should of sent this thing to mars, fuck that little thing they sent up there!

  • lol

  • it uses much more energy than they have on mars. you can't go that fast on solar panels, twice as far from the sun as earth is.

  • @solofalcon

    Oxygen, dawg.

  • This things baddass brotha looks like the Cobra tank from 1980's G.I <Joe

  • Is he inside the thing or is it unmanned?

  • The small tank is unmanned, but the controlling guy is in the big square tank/truck/command center.

  • what kind of engine those it have?

  • 650-horsepower V8, and judging by the engineering prowess of the twin-brother designers, it's probably custom built... but I can't confirm it. Check out the article on popular science website

  • I want one

  • iraqi's would be scared shitless when they see this rollin thru their hood

  • sweet.

  • Wow... Can you imagine what heavy weapons could be mounted on that monster? maybe a:

    -30mm Bushmaster II cannon

    -30mm Rarden autocannon

    maybe even a 30mm GAU-8 AVENGER gatling cannon! :)

(ok... the GAU-8 may be too much for the thing to handle, but who knows!)

It'd be beyond awesome to see this thing in military service

  • Ya the gau 8 is a little big...(about the size of a VW bug...). And I believe they stoped production of those.

  • or a 90mm recoilless rifle

  • honestly all it needs is a pair of .50cals they have .50 cal rounds that can take out lightly armored vehicles in one hit this thing could be a terror on tracks with that kind of punch

  • was that an m2hb on it at the end? i bet it could be a really good hunting type vehicle if they put like a super high velocity 20mm on it, because it has such a low profile...

  • This is only a prototype model, the version that the military will use will have much more firepower. Either way the guys who made this could probably add rocket launchers and stuff in, oh, I don't know, 8-12 months! This thing could probably survive a landmine, too, so it could be beneficial in reducing the amount of soldier deaths.

  • I don't know if this thing could actually use a rocket launcher--looks two flimsy. At least, not the thing you'd find on a battle tank like thte m1.

  • the finished model has an M240 machine gun on top and is virtually indestructible

  • Indestructable? IT looks stong but not as strong as like a full size tank.

  • they drove it over mines and broke its suspension mounts and it went on for hours with out problems but an M1A1 is better armored no doubt, but you can't argue with this things price tag of $760.000

  • Yeah the price tag is what is really appealing about this thing.

  • That and no lives are lost if the thing gets hit

  • Of course you're not going to mount a full-sized tank cannon on it, but you can definitely modify one or two RPG launchers to have an ammo-feeding system, and mount those on it too.

The only problem I see with it is that the wheels on the sides, the treads and everything, are slightly vulnerable, shoot a rocket into that and everything goes to hell. But they can obviously just armor the sides, so... yeah.

  • I WANT A RIPSAW!

  • Well the answer is... To sacrifce a 500k robot to save just one life or even a Humvee full soldiers.... is a no-brainer.

  • Hey, this thing seems like it could save way more than one life. It's a really, really amazing machine. I read about it in Popular Science. Im not sure about how much military vehicles cost, but 500,000 dollars isnt much for one, considering and M1 Abrams tank is like 5 million.

  • but there is a big difference in the ripsaw you cant shoot projectiles 4 miles. the ripsaw sounds more of a search and rescue unit then combat like the M1s are

  • I know, but, It would be a great vehicle. It could replace other things though. The M1 cannot be replaced with something that cant take 10 rocket hits. Search and Rescue is actually what I thought, but, 10 of these or 1 M1? That's a good argument.

  • but if you could put a M256A1 on that thing

  • it seems kinda expesive to use in scout missions. wut is it blows up by a roadside bomb or something

  • The military put it through extensive testing. The only thing that ever broke was the suspension at the end, and it still functioned perfectly well. Check out the popsci article

  • Dragon teeth are now useless.

  • this is the next generationof war fare

  • To answer loudness question, Actually I was at a demo where demo witness VIPs were looking at a video scene of Rippy while the operators of Rippy snuck up on the whole VIP crowd from behind. Essentailly, Rippy got with in 30ft of the crowds back and no one even knowing until the demonstrators asked the crowd to turn around... They were all looking down the barrel of the m240 at 30 ft. It was pretty amazing. Rippy is very quiet in stealth mode at low speed.

  • Well, if it's shot at, then there's no one inside. It's just...expensive to lose. And I tihnk it will hold up pretty well.

  • It cost the builders about 750,000 to make

  • this is a new army weapon its in popular science

  • what kind of trans do they have the big block hooked to?

    to drive the tracks?

  • Guys, the tank is Satellite controlled, the command center is a new idea adopted, perhaps to oversee progress? Its the army...they have lots of money we all know this...

  • so you have to stay within 20 feet or you lose singnal or what?

  • whats the name of the songs ? :V

  • Apocalyptica - Hope

    Deathstars - Syndrome

i forgot the name of the last one but i'ts from deathstars too

  • You would here that thing comin a mile away!......The louder the better I guess...lol.....

  • you might here it coming but if that thing is coming for you, you're screwed

  • I think they are already using them... Another video said it passed the Army's Aberdeen Test Center.... yeap... i agree ITS ABOUT TIME!!!!! I also heard that Ripsaw will be featured in the new Mad MAx film for 2010

  • It'sabout f time!!!!

  • lol, dude, it's not really a new army weapon.

  • it actually is a military funded program and the army is interested in adopting the technology.

  • i can make them and some are forsale!

  • ive heard of a tank trap but never a ripsaw trap lol unstopable

  • whats the range that they can operate apart from each other? the command center and the ripsaw i mean

  • Are these mean machine prototyped for the military allready? nice machine!

  • it can be sat guided from anywhere in the world if they wanted to.

  • if that control tank is destroyed, then control of the ripsaw is lost? and some lunatic would sit on top of that (*wearing a cowboy hat*) re-rig it, and ride it like a bull ! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

  • i want one!!!!!!

  • Whats the range of the MS1 from the command center?

  • if i hit that thing with a rocket on the side of the track...its done...

  • thats a lot better then a rocket to the side of a Humvee with several soldiers in it.

  • hit a humvee with such a thing... its gone. hit a light tank with a rocket. No more able to move... hit u with a rocket... R.I.P. hit this with a rocket... MECHANIK!?

  • true

  • every video of this thing I see, it gets cooler and cooler.

  • the same thing for me !

    It's really amazing..

  • Mount an M-240 G on it and start to slay!

Mount a TOW on it and really spill some blood!

mount a vertical launch Javilin and cook some tanks.

Give it AI and it becomes a tracked terminator.

  • remote-control cars... the climax

  • This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. p.s. What is the name of the artist and whats the name of the song?

  • Super job!

    Congratulations!

    What is the engine?

  • a suped up dura max some where around 600 horses

  • It has around 7 litre V8 engine which gives 478 kW = 650 Hp. Pretty mean machine :-)
