Well, I'm agnostic but I'm a libertarian and sympathetic to a lot of what Keyes says. The thing is, Keyes is probably closer to a lot of American views (agree or not) than Obama but media and elites DETERMINED who won this election. Obama is also more photogenic but Keyes is probably the most brilliant speaker and thinker of political figures in the last two decades.
Colin Powell could have won the Presidency running as a Republican. Republicans aren't the racists, Democrats are...always have been the party of racists. There are racists in each party but the Republicans have the superior history. Oh, and their policies didn't destroy the black community (which was solid in spite of racism) in the US like leftist policies did.

Pres. Harry S. Truman (D) desegregated the military and started a 21 point plan for Civil Rights. There were also the Civil Right bills sent Congress by both Kennedy and Johnson. Not to mention the efforts over the years by Eleanor Roosevelt, Hubert Humphrey, and others to turn their party around. Blacks simply backed the party they felt was better on Civil Rights. Evangelicals, Catholics, and other groups do same thing, it isn't neglection its politics.

I understand the "real first black president" point though. He's Kenyan-American, and not breed from the mixed-afro-americans (slaves) that've been here since the colonization of U.S. The first president of african descent would be a better term. His paternal roots are from Kenya, he was raised by his maternal British-American grandparents. That's not the typical "black" legacy. I'll be glad when we get passed this race sh!t and start seeing eachother as human-beings first!

First off, Clinton did not stop the war in the Balkans. NATA, led by the US, bombed, invaded and occupied Kosovo in 1999. To this day the UN has not stopped the violence and, in fact, has kept the country in shambles.

I would actively support Bush too if I was told that there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I mean I would have believed it because we should have the receipts but anyway. You can't really compare the two because like Keyes said. There was the intention to do something but outside of that there was no evidence at the time to go into Kosovo.

But I mean, there is a BIG difference. We all know that Bush also made the impression that Iraq had something to do with 9/11 to gain support. He therefore formulated the INVASION and OCCUPATION of Iraq. Clinton simply ordered AIR STRIKES against bases of those who were doing ethnic cleansing. He won that battle without putting a single U.S troop on the ground. And Yes, there was no evidence to GO INTO Kosovo, and Clinton actually never did. To compare Clinton and Hitler´s actions is stupid.

No I was thinking more along the lines that there was a country in an economic crisis who was fed up with their leadership and looking for drastic change and are willing to go to the extent of electing someone with minimal political experience but with great oratory skills who for years before his election was taught radical views of a racial value system and who is charismatic to the point that even when asked people do not give a reason they voted for him other than that he is a good speaker.

I have disagreed with Alan Keyes, especially a bit more recently. But it holds true that most of what I hear him say is absolutely correct. And this hold true here- it was fantastic. Do I agree with his taxing policies? Not really, but he sure knew how to express them enough, and it's better then what we had then.

Well, I'm agnostic but I'm a libertarian and sympathetic to a lot of what Keyes says. The thing is, Keyes is probably closer to a lot of American views (agree or not) than Obama but media and elites DETERMINED who won this election. Obama is also more photogenic but Keyes is probably the most brilliant speaker and thinker of political figures in the last two decades.

Um there was little more to it...
Pres. Harry S. Truman (D) desegregated the military and started a 21 point plan for Civil Rights. There were also the Civil Right bills sent Congress by both Kennedy and Johnson. Not to mention the efforts over the years by Eleanor Roosevelt, Hubert Humphrey, and others to turn their party around. Blacks simply backed the party they felt was better on Civil Rights. Evangelicals, Catholics, and other groups do same thing, it isn't neglection its politics.

Yes, and I'm also aware of the Southern Strategy, Lee Atwater and the Willie Horton add, Strom Thurmond and Jessie Helms (Former dixiecrats). Yes, you're right there were more Reps who supported the Civil Rights Act than Dems. However, that was the era of Aiken, Dirksen, Rockefeller, Eisenhower, Hatfield, and Brooke. The Reps of the 50s-60s were very different from today's party. As for conservatism, well I haven't seen much that from today's Republican Party either.

In some ways he's right. we all forgot what George Bush was campaigning for back in 2000. It was to have a humble foreign policy. Don't build nations, don't police the world. But I'd be safe with Alan Keyes as the President. The Republican party has barely any kind of diversity.

Obama received 70% of the vote to Keyes's 27%, the largest victory margin for a statewide race in Illinois history. Obviously there were more than white liberals who helped Obama to victory. Alan Keyes made the mistake to run as an ultraconservative in a state that has only become more liberal over the years. Mr. Keyes maybe smarter than both McCain and Obama, but when it comes to the game of politics...he needs to take notes.
