this the mary richardson, that came to WCVB , ch 5 boston in the early 80's? she cohosted (i believe, if she's the same ) on the first few years of the Chronicle news magazine show out here. very nice personality , thanks for letting us enjoy her !
oh my word, look at the young long-haired Pete Liebengood. Awesome. I enjoyed watching Pete on KRON later in the 80s and on KRON's Sunday Night Sports Final (which I have posted a few on YouTube). Thanks for this post!
I loved the Best Stores commercial at 26:25. We used to see Best commercials in Houston in 1975. I also remember the Best Store we had in southeast Houston in those days; it was the one designed by SITE with the crumbling facade. You might remember SITE did a few other BEST Stores throughout the U.S. in the '70s and early '80s; each of them unique.
Man I miss those stores. Those buildings were works of art. Look up "SITE" on YouTube.
This is an excellent newscast. I especially like the way each anchor's desk is a separate island set at an angle (I thought that perhaps that made it easier for the camera men to maneuver). I do like the simplicity of the look and feel of it--substance instead of flash. On a side note--Tom Duhain's trousers sure are tight. I highly approve.
Well, Mort Crim is just about the last person I expected to see pop in this. He must have been doing a syndicated commentary, since I thought his career took him from Philadelphia to Detroit.
Who ever edited Pete Liebengood's sports needs to do a better job. He was dying out there. Interesting story about Bo and the Wolverines. Just a drastic change with today's TV news. Other than the film vs. tape, these sound cuts just go on and on. Today, 20 seconds is an eternity.
I was 14 at the time this aired. Nice to see Bob and Tom again... brings back memories.
Nice work, thanks!

That label-free low pricing practice at Plato was also done at the now-defunct C&R Clothiers chain in Southern California.

Does anybody know who the announcer is at the beginning? I remember hearing him back then, but was never able to find out who he was.

Love the Wards TV commercial- "Speakers on both sides of the screen!" But what about the center, surrounds and subwoofer?
