  • Such Power and grace this give me endless goosebumps!!!!!!!

  • How come I didn't heard this band before!!!

  • I just listen to Kansas' Song for America, great record! So much soul and blues mixed in with the prog rock. I love Vander Plas...great virtuousity! But the 70's proggy groups were better...sorry.

  • @ianmackenziedavis While I humbly disagree about who is better, might I suggest their AcCult album, if you've not already given it a listen to. It might be even more to your liking.

  • @ianmackenziedavis - Can't replace the bands from the 70's, or the 80's, but the fact that bands this good, this young exist is pretty damn good, considering how popular crap like Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber are.

  • 1st time i have heard this band, they are oustanding

  • Well it's been a while since somebody posts something. If you do not know the band Conception check it out. I also recommend Evergrey. Please recommend some bands as well. This is the first time I'm listening to this band. It's just awesome!

  • @juanbestu Recomendations okay. Seventh Wonder, Andromeda, Anubis Gate, Circus Maximus, Ark, Adagio, Ride the Sky, Silent Call, Edenbridge, Anthriel, While Heaven Wept, Opeth, Wolverine, Redemption, Venturia, Fates Warning, Symphony X, Dream Theater. Also there is an internet Radio station devoted to playing prog rock and prog metal, that is called "Progulus" that is a good way to learn of new bands.

  • @stiltonchees Alright, thanks for all the suggestions, I'll make sure to check out the ones I didn't know as well as the Radio station. ^^

  • i havent been impressed this much by a band in a long time :)

  • though they are a little bit more prog rock than metal, ARK - burn the sun is just killer. Same with this album.

  • @Gharper8619 Technically metal is rock, but I see what you're saying, but I have to disagree.

I think the guitars in Vanden Plas are usually distorted and lower, thus making them heavier, as metal is.

  • @Geshien I meant to post this on another video but yeah they are metal.

  • thanks for the list guys

  • Guys, listen to Riverside (as mentioned bellow), Mind Key, Animations (new band from Poland - search for Animations - Demons Of War here)., and Spheric Universe Experience from France. I can bet you'll like them !

  • My Ranking: 1- Vanden Plas 2.-Royal hunt 3.-Symphony x 4.-Fates warning 5.-Rush 6.-Dream theater 7.-Enchant 8.-Queensryche 9.-Redemption 10.-Shadow Gallery
  • Check out Kamelot and Circus Maximus ;)

  • Listening to Riverside now, they do sound good

  • you´re the man :D

i´m a Dream Theater fan, and i really enjoyed Riverside´s music as well as i do enjoy Vanden Plas´ music, which i just discovered yesterday :D (bought 3 albums right away :D)

    Prog Rock ftw !

  • Thank you very much!

  • An incredible and enlightening journey awaits for all who listen to Vanden Plas. I'm beginning this journey for myself, and loving every minute of it.

  • I totally agreed with you!

  • Amazing song!

For me, there're 3 great progressive bands in the world actually: Vanden Plas, Symphony X and Dream Theater. I like the three, of course!!!

  • Listen to some Opeth and Tool, I have a feeling you'd really like them. If you have an affinity for the heavier stuff, Protest the Hero and Between the Buried and Me are also good for a listen. A few other good prog metal bands I haven't seen mentioned here would be Queensryche (Mindcrime albums), 3, and Maudlin of the Well. Also, rock the prog metal. Lovin' this song.

  • I listen to Opeth too and I really like them! Thanks a lot for your other recommendations. I'll check out these bands!

  • Yeah, Opeth is pretty good, Tool is okay, Queensryche is good, but you should also try listening to Andromeda, Circus Maximus, Rush and Shadow Gallery

  • I think I may as well add Seventh Wonder, Empty Tremor, Superior and Dreamscape to that great list.

  • How can you leave out Symphony X, Darkwater, Threshold, Tomorrow's Eve, Pain of Salvation, Pyramaze, Avian, Pagan's Mind, Conception

  • And I would add Blotted science, thought chamber and Spastic Ink, maybe Outworld to that great list.

  • I use to listen to Circus Maximus, Rush and Shadow Gallery too! Andromeda I don't know a lot yet, but I'm searching for some songs. Do you know a band called Riverside? They sound pretty good! :P

  • @katrinaylonen what about Opeth, and Devin Townsend?

  • @katrinaylonen Im in 100% agreement Dream theater is my fav band and i cant believe this bands sound im in awe

  • there are so many great prog metal bands arround beside Dream Theater and Symphony X, like this, Vanden Plas, and so many others:

Circus Maximus, Seventh Wonder, Darkwater, Mindflow, Shadow Gallery, Zero Hour....and so on...

  • I am a metal fan from Romania and I hope this band will visit our country, too.I think they are the second progressive-metal band in the world after Dream Theater.Isn't that so?

  • Awesome
