First of, if hostilities resumed between the koreas, it goes without saying that it would be conventional warfare, not guerilla warfare a la vietnam. In short, yes, you'd know the difference, because of the very different uniforms and equipment of the North Korean enemy and our South Korean Allies.

There was no problem distinguishing who was NVA (north viet. army) during the Vietnam Conflict, either, as the North vietnamese wore uniforms, unlike the VC, who didn't and hence the problem.

That problem being, distinguishing the friendly or indefferent local populace of S. Vietnam from the quite hostile Viet Cong, who were local guerillas allied with the North Vietnamese against the South Vietnamese Govt.( and their French, American, Aussie, Canuck, S. Korean, Taiwanese, and Filipino allies). That clear it up a bit?

I suppose the latter part of your statement is arguable; certainly they endured hardships far greater than their adversaries and ultimately won the war against the southern cousins.. Unpleasing as that sentiment might be, I also have to admit the uncommon valor displayed, at times, by my own Afghan and Iraqi enemies.

Try the american films "We were soldiers" or "Hamburger Hill" for a very human portrayal of the North Vietnamese. Of course, I'm sure  the Viet have their own films too.

in 1953, north korea and US/south korea signed armistice. war is not officially over, yet both side agreed to cease fire. that's why there's US army still stationed in south korea, with cooperation of south korean army.
