  • One of the great white soul vocalists of the 1970s. What a wondrous decade for SOUL music.

  • does anybody remember a birmingham band named second city sounds in the sixties, polly who was called pauline then was their lead singer.

  • terriffic , thanks for that

  • In retrospect...a popular song otherwise quickly dismissed by the songwriters themselves.

  • she is so beautiful

  • Polly's recording was released on 15 June 1973 on the PYE label.

In addition, four years previously; the song was covered by Stewart A. Brown and released 21 March 1969 on the RCA label.

Stu Brown (if you recall) was the former lead singer of Bluesology, along with Reg Dwight.

  • You have done a fine job capturing the essence of Polly Brown. She has always deserved more recognition.

  • Great track from polly.. former lead singer with pickettywitch in the late 60s early 70s she also had her face blacked up and wore a black wig when recording her hit has one half of sweet dreams with the abba cover honey honey in 1974 she had other later hits with up up up in a puff of smoke

  • @VeteranRunner1956 nowadays it wouldnt have meant anything - many girls have spray tans to look brown now !

  • I remember everything from the 70s (nothing from yesterday), but I don't remember Polly. She does sound a lot like Dionne.

  • i never heard of her,she was good!
