I saw another video of Scott Thompson on stage talking about this except this time he was with the other Kids in the Hall and they clarified it was the LA Kings that pulled up in the bus, not the Oilers. Gretzsky was with the Kings at the time, and Scott Thompson is tiny himself which may be why he thought Kurt was tall. Don't doubt this story at all.

If you look at videos and pics of Kurt between 1988-1990 he appears a lot taller, around 5'10" to 5'11". He has scoliosis resulting in him shrinking in height.

They one thing that makes no sense about this is that Gretzky was traded Aug 9 1988. Kurt died on April 4 1994. So if the Oilers got off the bus, Wayne would not be with them. Also why would the Oilers be staying at a hotel in Edmonton.

I saw another video of Scott Thompson on stage talking about this except this time he was with the other Kids in the Hall and they clarified it was the LA Kings that pulled up in the bus, not the Oilers. Gretzsky was with the Kings at the time, and Scott Thompson is tiny himself which may be why he thought Kurt was tall. Don't doubt this story at all.

Kurt is just of average height. If you google it. He's listed as 5'9", while Krist and Dave are 6'7", 6'0" , respectively.
If you look at videos and pics of Kurt between 1988-1990 he appears a lot taller, around 5'10" to 5'11". He has scoliosis resulting in him shrinking in height.

They one thing that makes no sense about this is that Gretzky was traded Aug 9 1988. Kurt died on April 4 1994. So if the Oilers got off the bus, Wayne would not be with them. Also why would the Oilers be staying at a hotel in Edmonton.
Perhaps its was the LA Kings who got off the bus and Wayne was going to the hotel. It doesn't seem like Scoot knows a tone about hockey so...
