I would have only been about 2 years old when that came out first in '66 although I often heard it played on the radio long after that, strange to think that most of that "teenage" audience will be old age pensioners now :O, grand song mind :)
This reminds me of the Orchid ballroom in Purley, it was the only place to be on Saturday, we went there on motorcycles, scooters, by bus, car, anyway we could, the music was excellent and the women were nice, 60s groove street!
Ja, da hast Du wirklich was verpaßt.
What do people think this song is about? Every song means a different thing to different people, and I have my own iinterpretation of it - but I'd love to know what other people (especially men) think of it??? The line "your world it's plain to see, aint right for you and me" seems to me like he's saying you're too focused on your friends and their world, and it's clear we can't be together. Am I right?
Was will man mehr.
I've got the compilation album on vinyl of their singles that I bought 20 years ago (think it has been re-issued on cd) and in the sleeves notes it mentions his brief moment in the spotlight with this single.
Seen this clip first in 1967, my parents allowed me to watch German Beat Club on Saturday afternoon. Was about 7 years old that time...Really can remember me to that old bw TV..
I fell in love with this song & G.B. after seeing it on Top of the Pops YONKS ago. It just suddenly came back into my head today whilst playing with my granddaughter!!!
yea this guy is living in Germany....traitor????!!!!! My memories of this record are listening to it on Radio Luxembourg 208 metres medium wave...fading in and out when i was a teenie in 1960 somthing...
I first heard this at the Mecca disco in Stafford (Tower ballroom?) in around 1975 and thought it was great. I went to buy it but it had long since been deleted as a single even then. Some months later I saw an EMI re-issue in Ruby Red Records, Wolverhampton. It was in the window with a sign pointing "Look! Supergirl is back !" So it must have been in demand. I still have it - what a great sound. Something to tell your Dad Melitta !
Just great to hear Graham and his SUPERGIRL .What great memories of the Summer of 1966. Fantastic song and great backing and well sung too. Could be a hit today!! Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for posting this lost classic. I love the saxes. I recall this record being played all the time at the Club a'GoGo, Newcastle in 1966. The other two records I remember being played at the same time are Lighting Strikes by Lou Christie and Ain't That Peculiar by Marvin Gaye. All great songs.

Interesting how the dancing in England is distinct from the go go dancing here in the US of the same time period. Very nice song.

Graham Bonney was one of the most successful British imitations of MOR US Schlagermusik.
But by 1966 he was ten years too late to be taken seriously.
