  • I would have only been about 2 years old when that came out first in '66 although I often heard it played on the radio long after that, strange to think that most of that "teenage" audience will be old age pensioners now :O, grand song mind :)

  • If anyone has the follow-up single LATER TONIGHT please upload.

I've been looking for it for years

  • the lovely girl dancing with the striped top on the right is like a ghost from my past at that time, lovely memories, still got the single somewhere.

  • at the age of 16 i met a girl and we dance to "supergirl" , now we`re 42 years

    married ....

  • beatclub radio bremen waren das für zeiten 1966

  • BIG ONE!! Great memories!!

  • AAaaaarghhh! I have this single 45rpm at home. A hit in Britain this wasn't!

  • i agee no earrings at this time for guys,i was one of the firts in 1966 to have long hairs in my village and i tell you it was not easy lol.

with an earring i would have been out of the game

nowadays i wear 2 earrings hehehehe, song brings back sweet memories first kiss and this line.

  • Did the tall guy think he was Superman if so wrong show

  • Not so much 'funny', more like a failed attempt to upstage/ take the P out of Graham Bonney.

  • I love the tall dancing guy... would someone help me with Graham's "That Bad Day" song (I think it was the B-side from "!Happy Together")...

  • this guy loves himself, great song though

  • Graham tries to ignore the dancing guy. Funny.

  • @SgtOBrien the dancin guy is actually a girl!! look closely she wearin an earing no guys wore earings back then!!

  • @westnblu Do you really mean the person coming into the video at 0:43? Sorry, but to me this one is male.

  • 1.46 So that's where my black & white dress went that mum made me

  • Really good song, only heard it once on British Radio - on Brian Matthew's show on Radio 2.

  • @MrMprinz

  • @MrMprinz

    Jung ist gut *hihihi*

    Vielleicht kommt irgendwann der Tag....

    Lieben Gruß aus der Pfalz.

  • @MrMprinz wer weiß!!! Danke

  • surprised that this wasn't even a mild hit in the States . it's really good and could be considered "beach music" in the southeastern U.S.

  • Interesting how the dancing in England is distinct from the go go dancing here in the US of the same time period. Very nice song.

  • This reminds me of the Orchid ballroom in Purley, it was the only place to be on Saturday, we went there on motorcycles, scooters, by bus, car, anyway we could, the music was excellent and the women were nice, 60s groove street!

  • His moves are so...... embarrasing ;-)

  • There is also a live performance of Barefootin' by Graham Bonney on beat club in 1966. He had a great tight band behind him. Can anyone post it?

  • Oh the innocence, its too much to bear, so nostalgic, when you met a girl during that era you really thought you were in love lol

  • habe den sogar live erlebt

  • mann da war ich sweet sixteen

  • lol, this is sooooo coool. :)

  • lol @ 0:42 :D

  • Václav Neckář - Hej, dívko zlá (1968)

    .

    watch?v=Lx_FMh7oT4U

  • Would this have been from "Ready, Steady, Go"?

So glad I found this here. It's a forgotten nugget nugget from the British Invasion.

  • No, its from BEATCLUB a similar type show from Germany.

  • Just a good pop song, nothing deep in the lyrics

  • das war meine erste single....toller beat!!

  • Love this video and the song is a one off Fantastic Great post Maany thanks xxx

  • looks like a guy i use to work with--even moves like him......LOL!!!!! and that guy getting up there dancing with him....lol

  • Ja, da hast Du wirklich was verpaßt.

    LG

    Flughein

  • @JerryBen Hallo, das stimmt, da hast du was verpasst. Das waren noch Zeiten . Kann ich nur bestätigen bin Jahrgang 1950

  • Graham Bonney was one of the most successful British imitations of MOR US Schlagermusik.

But by 1966 he was ten years too late to be taken seriously.

  • What do people think this song is about? Every song means a different thing to different people, and I have my own iinterpretation of it - but I'd love to know what other people (especially men) think of it??? The line "your world it's plain to see, aint right for you and me" seems to me like he's saying you're too focused on your friends and their world, and it's clear we can't be together. Am I right?

  • its like footsie brill and crap at the same time so many that made northern soul what it is today

  • its a shit song but ... ma nana luves it lol x

  • Hes a really good friend if my grandads. came to his 70th party last night :)

  • LOVE BRITTA! Born in 1966!

  • Vielleicht abstrus,

    Super Nummer l!!

  • Simply fantastic Thanks

Love live Mod and the Northern soul sound

    *****

  • totally agree its one of thoses crapand brillsongs at the time ktf

  • TheWelshrick True say my friend

  • That guy that gets up and dances is funny but a good example of 60's style.

  • Da war die Welt noch in Ordnung! Super Stimmung und immer gut drauf! Gruß an alle Oldies!

Was will man mehr.

  • In an alternate universe where "gay" wasn't an insult, I'd say "that's so gay". As it is, those guys were so CUTE!!!

    Supergirl?

  • It's those crazy Germans again!

  • Did he used to be in "The Riot Squad" ??does anyone know?

  • Yes, Graham Bonney was the singer in the Riot Squad

  • Oh, goodness,i saw them live in 1965/66,,Always wondered why they never really made it.Thought they were brilliant. Thanks for that.

  • I've got the compilation album on vinyl of their singles that I bought 20 years ago (think it has been re-issued on cd) and in the sleeves notes it mentions his brief moment in the spotlight with this single.

  • Great Fun Song & Video!!! I Love to watch these old clips from the past..Thanks

  • hey supergirl, hey, hey

  • I first heard this at the Mecca disco in Stafford (Tower ballroom?) in around 1975 and thought it was great. I went to buy it but it had long since been deleted as a single even then. Some months later I saw an EMI re-issue in Ruby Red Records, Wolverhampton. It was in the window with a sign pointing "Look! Supergirl is back !" So it must have been in demand. I still have it - what a great sound. Something to tell your Dad Melitta !

  • Now you can show your class mates Kobi, that grandad was and still is a pop star. Bet they'll believe you now when they see this. Love ya! xx

The other two records I remember being played at the same time are Lighting Strikes by Lou Christie and Ain't That Peculiar by Marvin Gaye. All great songs.
