SNES was ahead of its time; how could a 16 bit game system produce such music rich in sound and quality? And also may I mention SNES graphics were second to none as well. I was in awe when I first heard the music from this game, amazing!!
@Xhalvia I completely agree, I really wish they'd go back to their roots. However, I gotta disagree on the GoW Clone part. Not here to start a war, but just because you kill monsters in a 3D environment doesn't make it GoW. Stories are totally different (At least Castlevania produces a beautiful, engaging story), Characters & motives are different, setting, monsters, etc.
@Lawliet16 My opinion on the matter is that you'd have to be crazy if you didn't think that Lords of Shadow pays a much better homage to this game than roughly any of the other entries to the series within the past decade.
That game even features melodies from this soundtrack. Like the Waterfalls theme.
@HamsterPants522 Oh don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree with you. I haven't found a single thing wrong with Lords of Shadow. When I said that I wish they'd go back to their roots, I didn't mean to imply that the 3D environments were a bad thing. I just wanted a new, old side scrolling, 2D title with familiar characters.
Not that I minded Gabriel being a Belmont or anything.
@Lawliet16 Well I then I can agree. It would be nice to see a retro Castlevania again. But in the direction they're going with LoS, I really can't complain, it's certainly better than Judgement, that's for sure.
that game wasnt THAT bad how everbody made it seem.. it was just bad cause they puted it next to the other castlevanias.. wich were purse awesome.. but as an alone standing game.. simons quest wasnt that bad
simon's quest was the first castlevania i played. if i had started playing the series with castlevania 1, i'da probably never picked up another... i still don't like the original to this day.
simon's quest was sweet =D
and dracula's curse was the spruced up version of 1 that i could actually stand to play =D
@Heartbre4k3r I think the same thing about simon's quest. That was the first CV game I played, and the nonlinearity of it made it very interesting to me. I liked Silence of Daylight, Bloody Tears, and the Monster Dance songs. I never beat it but always remembered the music.

Haha, I remember back when this game first came out, we were at a video rental store, and my mom thought this game was a movie based on the cover.
One of the best tracks in the game's overall awesome soundtrack.

The original is better, but this has to be the best remix.

One of the most harrowing songs in SNES history, this shit made me beat the game because it inspired such mad courage in me!!

This is one of the tracks that really shows off the SNES sound chip's ability to produce really clean, low bass.
wicky615 6 months ago
@wicky615 you know that Sony create this sound chip?
robertsolis 5 months ago
@robertsolis Yeah. Back before Nintendo dropped their CD attachment for the SNES and Sony went off to create their own console.

This song never gets old, and when someone covers it with an electric guitar it always sounds tight.

I would love to see Simon belmont back in a new game that's still true to the originals that's not going to try to be a God of war clone :((
