@TRITTYcat From what i have read and my little experience the maintenance is pretty straight forward. Oil, air filter, and chain. Clean your bike after rides to look for anything loose. Oil is one compartment, not like a CRF so quik and easy to change. Doesnt filth its oil too much. But, i dumped my oil after first tank, it was dirty, then after doing another100Kms, was pretty clean, will dump after another 200Km to see how it looks but id say it will be fine.
@TRITTYcat As for valves, rebuilding etc. Check thumper talk, it seems to be very durable with basic maintenance. People have reported perfect clearance after many hours or Kms. The bike shop also told me this. Keep your air filter clean which is no problem and do your oil changes, it should go strong for a long time. I bought two extra air filters which i keep oiled in sealed bags and take one or two away with me when riding so a quik change is quik and easy. Its a quality bike, very powerful
Bought one today. Pick it up in a week. Cant wait! I gotta say im a little intimidated by the power, it goes hard as fuck. Ive riden quite a few 400/450s and i gotta say this thing feels to be the most powerfull ive riden. For those who havent riden one and want to know how it goes, it feels like it has more bite than a Yamaha WR450,and KTM450EXC. I havent riden every 2011 model 450 enduro out there, but those i have. The RMX also wins on value for money. Good price.
@fatdrood Nice work! Yea ive done a bit of riding on my now, mostly in Strathbogies (melbourne, Australia). The bike is absolutely awsome! Best bike ive riden. Still havent bought an IMS tank for it yet as ive been spending a lot of money since i got the bike, but will have one in a few weeks id say. The bike is amazing on the trails, its so stable, and all that grunt can really get you out of trouble when suddenly faced with something you didnt expect and fast on steep washout trails.
@fatdrood The bike shop de-restricted it when i bought it and when its de-restricted a power bomb, or cherry bomb is needed as the bike is fuel injected and needs to be tuned for the better breathing, etc. I would think almost all bike shops will do this for you when buying one. The restrictions from factory are rediculous. You have like 1/5th throttle travel, a plugged exhuast, restricted air box. The power bomb or cherry bomb is a must as you will be taking the all the restrictors off.
@TheGusto69 yea i got all the restrictors taken out, need to try find a cherry bomb been looking for a nz website that sells but not having much luck so far
@fatdrood Search "yoshimura cherry bomb" or "yoshi power bomb". If your bike is de-restricted it wont run right without it. Maybe thats why your wanting more power ;) Its basically an RMZ with changes to cam, gear ratios in 1st, 2nd, and rake of front end. Everything else is the same. It goes hard as hell! Same piston, valves, etc as RMZ, same frame, everything is the same as far as i know.
yes the wr is a pretty good bike is reliability, BUT after a while they do start to go wrong pretty bad. my friend has one and its a mess these days. the engine starts to go out of sync and tune it self out pretty badly.
@motabikeboy actually it sounds like your friend just doesnt know how to keep his bike maintaned properly. The WR's are one of the most reliable bike out there as long as you keep the valves in spec and change the oil routinley... but thats how it is with all the bikes. they'll all start running poorly if you run them for 100 hours straight without touching the engine.
its alot lighter than the drz400e by about 14kgs the drz400 is one of the heaviest enduro bikes available doesnt even compare to this but I cant believe they would bring it here without compliance
are they street legal

i think they should make a 250 version
garethrm125 11 months ago
Nah I dont think this was made to replace the legendary E
Its more like how the CRF450X is to the XR4
The RMX450 should be more directed to racers rather than normal trail riders
Rochor73 1 year ago
@Rochor73 no way this bike is 10 times better then the drz

so has this basically replaced the drzE?

@rabskyline the headlight and taillight is for enduro use... this bike is built for off road racing, not panzi ass street riding...
