I have one just about the same as the second one you showed. Would you make a video showing how to use it? I'm having trouble with mine. I can knot with needles, but not this thing. Go figure.
PS-I like the one by innovations! i wanna get that one next. :)
My favorite is the one by Innovations but I am dying to try the one by Addi express .I just can't afford it right now ;-( To knit newborn hats, I imagine the 22 needle machine would work but use thinner yarn and keep the tension a little bit loose. I'm happy my video helps. Thanks for watching!
Which one is your favorite? I am looking for one to knit Newborn/infant hats.. Any suggestions? TY For your videos btw! I found them very informative!
@craftygurl101 I found it at a discount aisle at a huge grocery. I found another one on Ebay but sadly it did not last too. I recently came across a video from Indonesia featuring this same machine but I imagine the costs involve in shipping would be cost prohibitive.
@j8nnyl, I haven't tried a garter stitch on the smaller machine. I tried on the bigger machine but the toque became too tight to wear. Thanks for watching!
I purchased the singer machine at a thrift store. The crank handle kept slipping. Needless to say, I only got 1 sock before it stopped working altogether. :(
@marissasd1 sorry hear that. The mechanism inside the handle must have been worn down so there is no more traction on the wheel. You can keep that machine though and save the needles to replace when you buy another singer.
@karenleanneramel I would use the machine with 22 needles but mine broke so I am still looking for another one. The other one that has22 needles is the addi knitting machine but the price is sooo way out of my budget.

I purchased (2) Giant Knit Knits. The crank handles broke off. I did like the long thinner scarfs that I made with them. I agree with an earlier comment you made, in that the version of the circular knitting machine like the Innovations is cost prohibitive. It is a sturdier model, but the cost for the King Size is $215.00 and over.
@HJKelley47 my second and third Giant Knit knit broke too. Luckily, my husband has been able to switch parts so now I am careful. If the yarn does not turn smoothly and gives resistance, stop.. I did try waxing the yarn and it did help for the thicker yarn but there are some yarns that simply will not work with the knit knit. I have read that Kids STuff made a 22 needle machine it was purchased at aRite Aid store in Southern California. I have been looking for one since.
@9Jordyn I'm not sure but I did see it at a Michael's craft store. Don't buy the one by rose art as it doesn't seem sturdy and feels like it will break right away. To date, I have a few more machines that I am testing out and will post soon. Thanks for watching.
I do know how to knit by hand and I love the variations you can make. However, since the surgery on my wrist plus the need to make fast projects, I use the machine. I'm afraid my wrist isn't as good as it used to be : (
I have watched all your videos! I have knitted for years by hand with knitting needles - but it goes so slow! I would love to purchase one of these machines. All I want to make is scarfs only. Which one would you recommend for a 45 year old to buy? The innovations looks the best built but I would like you opinion on the ease of use. I hear these machines drop stitches if you are not careful. Thanks for your great videos.
The Innovations is the best so far for ease of use. I like it and hope that they make one with 22 needles as the only other one is so cost prohibitive to indulge in as a hobby. I have a video on casting on and try holding the yarn as you crank the handle until you feel you have the right tension to avoid dropped stiches. Thanks for watching
I love your work! I watched your videos when I got my Innovations and Matel machines. I now have a circular sock machine. You should think about getting an antique or newer model sock knitting machine. They are pricey, but they're wonderful and you can crank out great socks and other items. Its an all metal machine with a hand crank. There are plenty of videos on YouTube if you'd like to see on in action.
how much do theese cost? they are very tempting to me : ) i love the result of knitting but it takes for ever! would u recommend one that doesnt drop stiches or is really simple? thank you!
All you have to do is to check the tension and yarn thickness. With all the nice, fancy yarns available now in the market, you will need to experiment and adjust the yarn "give" as you go along.
These hand-crankers also work better than those with a side hand-turned knob. I've used crochet cotton, cast-on quite loose on these round one's with good results. Fun yarn and sport weight seem to leave a good bit of 'dust' requiring cleaning out with a pc-vac or similar. Enjoyable vid.
At 2:31 the Singer is same as Barbie's. Singer loses stitches ez. Barbie's angle profile makes work access ez, fair isle or tapestry-needle color adds. Scrap thread or elastic cord cast-on prevents curl just like flatbeds. Final row alt color bind-off is just like flatbeds. Helps to know knit stitches if doing panels on round units, as edges vary stitch kind at stop/reverse direction. Modern units are cheaper plastic than vintage units. And pins are pretty ez to self-replace.
Right. The newer ones are really cheap plastic. My 22 needle machine broke and I've only found one other in London but the shipping cost is prohibitive. Rite aid carries a 22 needle machine by Kids stuff and according to one review, it is made better and cranks smoothly. Thanks for your input.
also another question for the innovations knitting machine...do u have a problem with dropped stitches because i talked to some people and they said they get a lot of dropped stitches
Yes it is big enough for caps. The trick is, the thicker yarn for smaller heads and thinner yarn for more strech/give. You can also make blankets by knitting flat panels and stitching them together. As long your tension is correct, you will not have any dropped stiches. Happy knitting!
for the innovations knitting machine can u make large blankets with them??? also the hats that it makes... are they big enough for most peoples heads??? - im thinking about getting one!
Sorry for the late response. The machine I purchased at Toys R Us is fairly ok but it cranks a little noisily. I would say it is not great but it works and depending the size of the yarn, the machine will crank smoothly. It does not work too smoothly with thicker yarn. I hope this answers your question. thanks for watching! best.
Thanks for the video. What size adult socks do you knit on these and what machine? I am looking to knit a size 7 womans and a 9.5 mens sock is it possible? How do you adjust for tention and sock size? How do you make the toe, do you take it off and decress for the toe stitches? Thank you!
Hi my message was to long so I sent it to your inbox.
To all reading this, yes you can knit a size 7- 10 but you will need thinner yarn and loosen the loops on your yarn without dropping stiches. to make the toe, pull the tail where you cast on and the stiches will gather so you can sew the hole shut My other videos may answer all your questions. Thanks for asking.
I am new to knitting machines - started a craft business in fall, and after three months - developed a frozen shoulder. I like the pattern book with your brown machine - is that a mattel ? what do you think of the machine that is endored by Caron, the ultimate knitting machine ? really appreciate your help.
Hi. Sorry to hear about your frozen shoulder. swinging your arms in a circle helps as my shoulder does get tired too. Yes, the brown machine is by Mattel. On the Ultimate knitting machine, I do own and use one and I love it! It is so easy to use but the keyplates do wear out. Hope your shoulders gets well soon and take care.
I bought the Mattel yesterday. I know you talked about it. But I couldn't wait for your answer and I know if I don't buy it. Someone will. I don't want to loose it. So I bought it. Anyway, It has no yarn guide. The needles you said it could replace. What kind of needle that I need to purchase for replacement. Thank you. Regards!
Hi.Glad you bought it. If it cranks smoothly, great! As for the yarn guide, I imagine you could improvise one with a large paper clip or wire. The needle used in sewing the pieces shut could be purchased at any dollar store. Fabric stores carry them and ask them for yarn needles. If you can't find one, let me know and I'll mail you one. I have lots. Happy knitting! hugs.
Thank you for showing your collection. The mattel machine, is it come with the yarn guide and needle (tapestry). Is it easy to crank? This machine for making baby sock and infant sock? I'm waiting for your response.
Hi. The Mattel is the easiest to crank among all the machines. The new ones come with complete accessories. But if can find the older brown ones, they are made of the stronger plastic. The needles you can replace but make sure you have the yarn guide. It was orginally for granny circle that you piece together but I use it for infant tube socks, headbands --anything you could find a use for for this size tube. Join the ends or crochet with 2 or 3 chain stiches between each loop. Best to you.
I have one just about the same as the second one you showed. Would you make a video showing how to use it? I'm having trouble with mine. I can knot with needles, but not this thing. Go figure.
