I remember a summer day in 1971 while visiting West Point, NY. I was at the lookout over the northern Hudson Valley. I started to hear a sound of a jet but there was noting in the clear blue sky. I looked down to my left to the opposite bank of the Hudson. There it was. A train moving along the rails with the sound of a jet plane. I believe it was this turbo train I saw that day. It was fantasic.
When I worked for Amtrak between 1972 and 1974 I travelled aboard the Turbo train between Providence and Boston and New Haven and New York. Later, I took the test trip ex St Louis to Chicago, boarding at Joliet. The Turbo did not ride well on poorly maintained roadbeds.
Yes Moleman1961, plus he doesn't have to get shocked in the leg because there isn't catenary like in the 1st movie & Godzilla vs King Kong. And Barbl2, I had a Bachmann catalog back in the mid 1970s & I recall seeing a photo of the N scale turbotrain set.
Now, we all know that Bachmann produced this in N 35 years ago, right? OK, just checking... Saw the turbo in GCT back in the Eighties, what a sexy beast.
Bravo! It really whizzed by in that short clip! I have to say that layout is quite the beautiful back drop for your gorgeous model. Hope to see the Canadian running on it soon!
I loved riding the turbo. When one caught fire near Sharon, MA, they were no longer used in the U.S.

Your scenery is amazing. You could make an Amtrak timetable cover with these shots.

Lovely train! Nice scenery too! I was waiting for Godzilla to come stomping through the scene! Just reminded me of those movies!
