I think boxing in MMA in general is going to get better and the jab will become just another weapon, and not a primary weapon. We're just seeing more evolution in the standup dept.
@babyface0514 i understand that. the jab is used to set up most combinations, used to keep distance and used to break hooks, uppercuts and overhands, but I think standup will improve as a whole, and the jab won't be as effective when the level of boxing increases. Furthermore you cannot forget kicks, the legs are longer than arms, and when people learn to keep distance with those, the jab can be broken. For example, jabs won't work against a guy like Machida. He stands too far out to be jabbed.
im with u on the silva vs GSP fight. i realy like GSP but i think silva is just to big. they say that when he doesnt fight hes like 220 . how can GSP fight a guy that big. GSP could fight in 185 but with guy a bit less talented than silva. then the weigh problem would be solve buy is talent. also the way silva win are more decisive than gsp. he destroy is opponent when gsp win by hard work and long 5 round fight . i dont know how the fight can be fair with that weight difference
just wanted to say thanks for the videos man , seems like you put a lot of thought into it, where some other people will stutter and not be sure of what there going to say but you come prepared thumbs up man. "godspeed - bas"
it's crazy how people are underrating gsp vs silva ,it's he a can of something. anderson silva has one of the worst wrestling in the game, gsp has the best.
silva maybe bigger, stronger, higher. but skills for skills, GSP is better IMO.
@wildwolves8 Well, considering he stuffed all of Demian Maia's takedowns (who has solid takedowns) and stuffed 4 of 7 takedowns from Sonnen while injured and while Sonnen was on roids, I think he can hold his own in stuffing takdowns against GSP, who's a lot smaller than Anderson and is going to have trouble getting inside on his reach to get the takedown. I've got Silva by KO, timing one of GSP's shots and landing a vicious flying knee, ala his fight with Carlos Newton.
@wildwolves8 All I was saying is that he has pretty decent takedown defense, he's way bigger than GSP, and with his reach he'd be able to keep him on the outside and stuff his shot, and eventually time it with a knee is what I'm thinking. What did Maia generate in that entire fight other than getting embarrassed? He did nothing convenient in that fight but get wrecked, that fight was beyond one-sided. Not counting out GSP against Silva, just a bad match up in my opinion.
and if torres jumps in, gets KO'd by a KO puncher aka Banuelos people would be talking again on how he can't beat good fighters like after the bowles fight
Good review dude, it's BCMVP11!!! LOL! Yeah dude, fucking incredible front kick (crescent kick) KO for Silva, rarely see anything like that getting a KO, but was definitely worth dropping your beer for. By the way, how's that coffee taste? Haha! Good stuff bro!
I think even more impresive than the kick and stopage was Andy evading Vitors punchs. the one after Andy head kicked, got thrown to the ground and mid scramble dodged the right hook coming down. then the 3ish he jedi'd out of the way before inevitable happened
Jake Ellenberger actually got split decision. It should of been Unanimous, but one judge actually scored it 30-27 for Rocha. That judge, he/she is needs to be outed right now, before they really mess up an important bout.
I agree that GSP and Anderson should not happen, especially since it does not do much for Anderson when he wins as people will say that he was the bigger fighter, fighting in his own weight class. It would be better if Anderson fought at LHW again.
Why not give him Rashad, then if(after) he wins he fights for the title (and wins). Then maybe he'll retire, leaving as few haters as possible in mma.
@MMA6049 I just don't get how one of the judges came to a conclusion that Rocha won all 3 rounds....IDK. I am beginning to think I should apply for a judges license in Nevada.
steven segal took the credit for that kick saying he taught anderson and machida the mechanics of it which i thought was funny especially cause every mma fighter knows and have seen a front kick
@reefinit Yeah, I mean It is possible that he helped him perfect it, just like Rogan was showing GSP how to perfect a turning side kick. Did he completely teach him that, IDK.
Geez it's not a crescent kick. It's a front kick which karate uses all the time as oppose to the MT's Tee/Push kick variation. Why are so many people so surprised about that kick knocking people out? I guess alot of ppl are strict mma fans and don't watch other combat.
@tman229 It was a teep kick variation/almost like a crescent kick/front kick, regardless though my point was that you don't see this happen very often in MMA. I have seen it in TKD and Karate competitions but very rare in MMA. One actually just happened a few weeks back that was a clean KO.
@hattrickhockey17 Well obviously you don't see see it too much in mma. That's why Belfort got caught with it lol. Alot of MMA fighters needs to expand from the boxing, MT, Kickboxing boundaries i guess. However, a crescent kick is more like a hook kick in a front kick position. You lift it up from the side of the opponent and swing it across thus hitting the opponent with the side edge of the foot. The first half of the movement is also similar to a axe kick when lifting it up.
@tman229 You are correct, I corrected myself by saying it was a variation above. It started as a teep, then he extended it into a front kick, almost like a crescent. I am pretty sure I said Crescent kick in the video, wasn't feeling to well this morning. I think the other reason it isn't thrown as much is because guys haven't perfected it or have gotten caught or countered trying to do it. Thanks for the correction.
@hattrickhockey17 Np. Also you made a point about perfection. That kick is alot harder to effectively catch with in contrast to the teep kick. Though alot of karate/TKD people uses it, most KO's are done in kyokushin mainly because they use little to none foot work to avoid it. In other combat where movement is a bigger faction, it wouldn't be as easy to hit the target. If Belfort had of moved he probably wouldn't of got hit but he thought it was to the body which turned to a bad judgement.
GSP will beat the shit out of Shields like Ray Robinson would fuck up Matt RIddle in a boxing match
Now Silva/GSP will be a tough fight for GSP because Silva is much bigger than him. GSP is an average sized WW and Silva is a big MW. that will be the deciding factor IMO is the size
a bigger skilled man will be a smaller skilled man
Great stuff

@khazal12 the jab in boxing is the most utilized strike, the jab is the most important when it comes too striking.

@bcmvp11 don't compare demian maia to gsp or maia's TD to GSP ones. people think that fight is one-side good for them, but i don't believe so.
