Have any of you guys ever ridden a road bike at high speed? At that point slamming on the brakes would not only have made him lose control, it wouldn't slow him down enough to avoid serious injury. He had no other choice; you can see him trying to franticalyl signal to the cyclists next to him to let him on the right.

@pilotbrooks7 you're actually supposed to slam your front brakes during emergency braking, he could've lessened the blow by a bit by slamming the brakes rather than taking his foot off his cleat.

@pilotbrooks7 Thank you for that helpful comment - its the first time a cyclist who is qualified to speak has admitted that 'road bikes' or 'racing bikes' are dangerous to be riden on the road due to the excessive braking distance and ineffective brakes - just like some cars and other vehicles that arent suitable for road use are barred from the road on safety grounds, so should any vehicle that is unsafe to ride on the highway.
