  • When I was in high school, I was listening to BIG WRECK coming down a 2 lane road, 2 in the morning, just coming back from a poker game. I was trying to change tracks to listen to my favorite song, the Lighthouse...when I looked up and saw two cars stopped at a red light 15 feet ahead of me. I slammed on my brakes, ended up going BETWEEN the cars, but really screwed my car up badly.

The irony wasn't lost on my that my first car accident was to the legendary music of Big Wreck. I love BW.

  • Cornell never had and will never have the soul that Ian has in his voice. Not to mention he shreds on guitar(I want that doulbe neck). Thanks to the gods for the return of Big Wreck.

  • @milestonedrummer Bravo!!!!

  • This sounds like it could have been released the day after blown wide open. They didn't lose the magic at all, still classic Big Wreck!

  • love this song.

  • Welcome back Big Wreck. We've missed you.

  • great comeback song!

  • Funny how everyone compares Ian to Chris Cornell .... never seen Cornell shred a guitar like Ian or send shivers down your spine with his vocals , always enjoyed Cornells stuff too however i see 2 different artists .... , it's always been about the music with Ian and nothing else!!!!! , ..........real......... do i say anymore , he's cool without trying to be!!!!

  • i love his voice :)

  • march 6th the album is out. can t wait

  • Big Wreck have always been one of my favorites. From In Loving Memory...through Thronley's eponymous stuff. All great. So rad that Big Wreck is making killer songs again. Nobody sounds quite like this band. Awesome.

  • I keep thinking it is chris cornell

  • WOW! This guy sounds just like Chris Cornell...I thought it was til I looked him up...awesome song!

  • though this was chris cornell when i first heard it!

  • thornley's voice is like the sound of Jesus. my god... He sounds just like Chris Cornell actually. It's too bad Big Wreck have always sounded "too country" for mainstream otherwise they'd be killing it.

  • @blaynestaleypro you are one brain dead mother fucker

  • Holy stuck in my head. What a great song!

  • heared this song a month ago took me this long to find the name and artists of this song finally! sounds like chris cornell

  • I've been listening to this song at least once a day since I heard it on the radio, and I don't see it ever getting old. Absolutely amazing tune. So pumped for March 6th.

  • fuck that guy can sing! Im glad to see thornley putin big wreck back together.

  • love this tune... great melody, love these guys

  • So powerfull... Inspiring in times of darkness.

  • Come to Newfoundland!

  • I can see this being an intro to some raw mining reality show.

  • Soo good

  • this song is one of the best song ive herd in years by any band

  • WELCOME BACK!!!

  • BIG TUNE!!

  • where did this come from ?! totally expresses what I'm feeling..

  • most inspiring song out there !!!

  • this has to be the most transcendent, from the stars kind of song out there now ! this is just amazing in all ways

  • a double-neck guitar, but this can be played on one string. ha.

  • i need shredding. shred, ian! shred your ass off.

  • Dubstep winning Grammys, Whitney Houston dies, just when you think there's no hope left for music... Big Wreck gets back together! This song is incredible.

  • @aFREUDIANSLIPMusic FUCKIN EH!!

  • not to brag or anything but... my gfs uncle is the bass player in this band :D

  • Sounds like Soundgarden

  • Bout damned time! We missed you guys. And Albatross is badass.

  • holy albatross fuck! Great to hear you guys doing more music. Hopefully this one can show the record execs that great rock is still sellable.

  • I knew it wasn't Chris before he even started singing...Soundgarden is always Drop D, not Open B

  • I've been to two Big Wreck concerts and one Thornley concert. Glad to see them back together and look forward to seeing then again!

  • BIG WRECK GO BACK TOGETHER?!?!? WHAT!!!! AMAZING OMGOMGOMGOMGOGM!!!!

  • great song ian.cheers........

  • Chris Cornell fucking wishes he was half the musician Thornley is.

  • @thedealbreaker

Okay that's just a fucking stupid statement, there's no need to say things that aren't true and just doesn't make any sense just because you think you have to put one of your favourite singers in a competition of who's best.

  • @Aizen9

Umm. I suggest you take a look at Thornley's solo in this:

    watch?v=uizmJSEzBkg

When you find Chris Cornell's shredding solo, let me know. Until then, my statement stands.

  • Swear I thought this was Chris Cornells new band that I had never heard of

  • Got this from nessyvt and she was right on! Can you imagine seeing them live? Cool.

  • real fuckin music right there.

  • Heard this song in October on the radio, and knew my hope for good music was coming true! less than two weeks till I buy this album.

  • That Mother F*ck'r can sing!!!!! Pre-Ordering that album right now. I seen Big Wreck in concert do the craziest version of Over The Hills And Far Away you will ever hear....Respect to Ian Thornley

  • man what a great song it is. I really thougth it was Chris Cornell voice...i tried to figure the singer with a moustache thinking he would have shaved it loll

    Vocals are incredible.

  • SG and BW share a similar Zep influence. This song has a much more STP "Plush" feel. It's like Stairway to Plush. Ian Thornley is a thoughtful, soulful singer and songwriter who sounds like Cornell in only the most obvious way. Being a fan of both I've never come close to mistaking the two.

  • Chris Cornell...you have been officially replaced. Suck it!

  • I thought this was Chris Cornell. =\

  • That dog shit might fly on the coast, but not in the rest of Canada. That was such a Soundgarden rip. Don't make the same mistake Creed did with Pearl Jam!

  • @FFJNVT Still a great song. What's wrong with using another great band as a template/influence to create something else? That is actually how music tends to evolve. Well, good music anyway.

  • Nice to hear real music again. This song rocks! \m/

  • sounds alot like chris cornell

  • Gonna be on repeat for awhile.

  • I've been a huge fan of Big Wreck/Thornley for years and it continues to amaze me how they don't get more global recognition. Their music is haunting but in a beautiful way; a slight twinge of melancholy that is surprisingly addicting.

  • Will this be coming out in the states???? PLEASE!!!!!

  • Albatross" metaphor" psychological burden that feels like a curse.

  • Sounds like Audioslave mixed with 70's rock. Amazing. Love this song.

  • Dude, you know those guitars that are like you know? Double guitars?

  • @SonnyDelight69 chocolate microscopes?

More rubber stamps ) lol u set me up 4 that one hahaha!

  • @blacklab27 I know for sure that you're a 90s kid! lol

  • Is it all original members or just Thornley and the guitarist?

  • @tunaleg Ian and Brian ( long hair ) are original Big Wreckers. Paulo ( bald head ) and Dave ( Bass ) are from Thornley. Brad ( drums ) is brand new to the band.

  • Why aren't these guys selling out stadiums and making millions!!?!

Do people not care about the QUALITY of music anymore!??

What the hell is wrong with the music industry....

  • @IIFlippy couldnt have said it better myself my freind !!

  • @IIFlippy Totally agree with you!

  • wow heard this song live long time ago. pretty killer

  • FINALLY BIG WRECK IS BACK!!!

  • Gotta hear this again and again!

  • Flavour of the month pop-stars and lip-synching losers step aside...Big Wreck's back! Guitars and vocals never sounded so good! Can't wait for the album and tour.

  • AMAZING!

  • This video has about 43,400 views. This other video has over half a million.... WHY?!?!?!!?!!!?!!!!

    watch?v=hJrGn-U0650

    IT HURTS SOOOO MUCH!

  • When I heard this song on the radio I thought it was Chris.. Still good song.

  • me too, big time

  • amazing

  • Its the only song that i can literally listen to 30 times in a row.

  • Now that my friends is what I call epic vocals!

  • They were the 2nd concert I went to when i was 14..and it's stillone of the best I've ever been to since.Fucking awesome to have them back together again!!

  • at points the guitar solo sounds like a violin.

  • Sweet sweet sweet :D Love it

  • just want to add that although I love Chris Cornell's voice, Ian Thornley's voice is very distinct and stand out on it's own.

  • I am PUMPED for the new album March 6th...it's like finding a lost toy from your childhood kinda happy :)))

  • @emmywel March 6th?! Holy crap! Same day as Mass Effect 3! MARCH IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!!!!

  • @Jaymon1203213

HAHA, I thought the same thing... im gonna have both going at once :D

  • What a fantastic song, welcome back, Big Wreck! It reminds me of Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic", but more edge & bass. Love it, instant classic!

  • I am LOVING this song!

Nice to hear this "sound" on the radio again.

  • @SlitherWhisp yeah, can't wait for the album to release

  • i've been dying for the album to come out...

  • These guys; are amazing. It's one of these songs that isn't popular at the beginning, but watch. It's going to be big, you'll see. I say it'll hit 100,000 by July! Any true Big Wreck fan would think the same. Big Wreck you are amazing! Who agrees with me?

  • He Sings like Chris Cornell

  • once in awhile , a really great song comes along and picks you up and carrys you so far...well this is that song!! thankyou xo

  • welcome back big wreck, the worlds missed you.

  • as if only 30 thou? this bands so good , all I thought was thanks for still making good music! ;)

  • I usually only listen to music from the 70's. Because most of the new stuff is screamo-shit. But this song here, is fucking great!!!

  • Great song but not very original, I was certain that this was a Cornell song.

  • @2MinutesToMidnightt Same here man! I went mad trying to find this song thinking it was a lost Chris Cornell single! Defiantly influenced by him at the very least.

  • Absolutely love this song - think I wrote the lyrics????

  • WELCOME BACK BIG WRECK! IT IS GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK! WE MISSED YOU!

Goddess, I'm with you! I saw these guys back in the 90's and they were amazing live!

Big Wreck, you were played this morning while I waited on my train on Quantico, blasted Inhale, didn't give a shit who got offended while chugging on a fine Ashton Maduro Robusto!

...ILMO and TP&TG were albums that inspired me to be the musician I am today!

  • Its funny cause, people don't make music like this anymore, but they did. In all honesty, this is a timeless hit that will be played on the radio forever just like an Alice in Chains or Soundgarden song. Not only is it catchy as hell, but the melody soars like an eagle. His voice, good god!!! Its just such an epic song, it feels like something huge! you know?!?!?

  • If there is a God, PLEASE let a tour happen. I'm so excited they reunited. I've missed this band.

  • Incredible voice! Sounds very Cornell like....

  • @NUGGAREEM I was totally thinking the same thing! haha:P they even sort of look alike:P

  • Wish I had a voice like that!

  • GREAT SONG \m/

  • i love this song.

  • Simple & Beautiful..S.i.M.P.L.Y. B.E.A.U.T.i.F.U.L!Thnx iAN (i'm OK)

  • I'm personally gonna view this video 1000 times a day, I suggest all you real fans do the same. It's gotta beat 50 million views, it deserves as much

  • Comment removed

  • @chazlouis645 im with you on this one very very awesome band

  • @chazlouis645 technicaly speacking you can only watch it 360 time a day, but I agree :D

  • Love THAT SONG!

  • so happy they're back and cannot WAIT til the new album is released!

  • What a voice...amazing performance. Greetings from Poland

  • @Koyokoable Poland has GREAT taste...STO LAT!!!(Mtl.)

  • Heard this in Canada this weekend...I remember "that song"....fucking love THIS song

  • welcome back Thornley and the guys. Great song, good decision.

  • The word 'albatross' is sometimes used metaphorically to mean a psychological burden that feels like a curse. It is an allusion to Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

  • been waiting a long time for the return!!!

  • So glad to hear BIG WRECK is back, although have they ever been gone? I even lived in Sweden and CRANKED their tunes while there..They've always been here for me, but can't wait to hear MORE!!! This song was PHENOMINAL! Can't wait to hear the rest.

  • Absolutely fantastic tune. His voice melts me <3

  • soundgarden has a kid : big wreck ! ;-)

  • @namsuo Chris Cornell's voice sounds a bit similar to Ian's in this song, but Ian's is much more versatile..if you listen to all of their songs, you will see he's nothing like Chris. Ian is an incredible vocalist with awesome range. This song is such a good way to let us fans know they're still thinking of us, and we're thinking of them! TY BIG WRECK!

  • 102.1 the Edge brought me here

  • @elpeeo and 97.7

  • @elpeeo That's my fave station back east :)

  • cant even explain how happy i am there back

  • I cannot WAIT for the new album!!!

  • @MrIndestructible43 Same here, Albatross is only a small bit of what we'll get!

  • "because I know, that I'm alright" Yes you are, great song, unreal vocals. Good music.

  • I LOVE Big Wreck - I just love his voice, so calming, soothing. Montreal radio station I listen to plays Big Wreck a lot, and are playing this new song, I loved it the first time I heard it. Hey Now - Didn't know the lead singer was such a hottie :)

  • Hey...this is a cool song! ;)

  • Did

  • Good track.... Just can't get over how much he sounds like Chris... Do they always sound that similar??

  • Ian Thornley is so pro that he can sound so loud but talk so smoothly and normal, not like Steven Tyler:) thumbs up if u agree

  • Big Wreck was all I listened to when I attended the University of Saskatchewan.

This song just sings to my heart mind and soul. So poetic and introspective for anyone who is or has been the "Albatross".

Big Wreck never stop!!! Next time your in Saskatoon please play Buds TCU or CUC please!!

  • too sick

  • 2 people are obviously deaf..

  • AWESOME AWESOME AND MORE AWESOME....THORNLEY IS THE MAN....

  • I am glad they are back!!!

  • Jeeze, what an obvious allusion to Orville in The Rescuers Down Under.

  • sounds like theory of a dead man

  • @emmfootball Are you kidding me? They don't even sound remotely similar, unless they were swearing every line. Don't even mention that disgrace of a band on a Big Wreck video.

  • is it me or does this sound like Audioslave?

  • @Dradle More like Late era Soundgarden.

  • Cant get enough of this song. nice to hear some new stuff from Big Wreck.

  • Get Wrecked and Dig It. Glad you guys are back and amazing as ever. If not BETTER.

  • Finally! Some real music!

  • not bad

  • They're so fucking professional, it's crazy. They probably throw away better tunes than many bands could ever hope to write.

    I'm happy they're back.

  • Very happy to hear they're back. Always loved them. Songs remind me of old girlfriends. Good times

  • Not only does he sound just like Cornell. He looks just like him! It's scarry!

  • Chris Cornell wannabe!!

  • WHY DOES THIS SONG ONLY HAVE 22 000 VIEWS? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD?

  • @Gunn1221 Actually the video I uploaded of the song had over 80,000 views before it was removed by WMG.

  • @dfbhcf 83,670 as of Monday. That means combined there has been 108,000 views in 2 months. Not bad.

  • did a picture of a seagul bring you here? oh the places we will go on youtube...
