  • I have a flat iron with sharp edges and I have succeded in curling my hair with it several times, and it looked really good :) even better than with my actual curling iron

  • my hair is naturally like the one you did at 7:59 but i dont like it. i used to have straight hair but i dont know what happened. is it the way i have changed my hair style or the way i wash my hair now? i try to straighten it but i have to go over it several times. My mum says that i have a $100 flat iron. do you have any tips to help me? My curling iron is a vs sasson glide

  • I call flat iron straigtners (If there the same thing)

  • @puddingdsi

Flat irons are the same as straighteners, it's just how they say it in the US. ^___^

  • @puddingdsi they r

  • nappy? really?

  • @Metallicrose i know right.. that is not nappy hair

  • hehehe....almost sounds like we're baking our hair at 375-400 degrees

  • i have wavy hair thats kindof think. My hair wont curl with a flat iron. do you have any tips on what i can do.

  • mine is a GVP from Sally's and it does that :) its amazing! i wouldn't trade it for any other one. and i got the Breast Cancer Awareness one :)

  • i have the chi special edition guitar 1 in straighter in purple. i LOVE IT! it DOES turn on and off, and it makes my hair silky smooooth. :]

  • So, I tried everything and curling absolutely did NOT work. The straightner I have has the rounded edges, and it's not cheap either. Any other tips?

  • My flat iron is from Sephora and it has infrared or something that supposedly protects hair and locks in moisture. It flattens really well and curls and all the rest. I always use heat defense be4 using hot tools but those infrared things don't do anything. Split ends still happen. Temperature is 210 Celsius max.

  • Mine is Amika , & i love it so muchh , but it was around 200

  • I live in Denmark, so I don't have a large selection possibilities in the shops, plus I'm underaged and my parents aren't really that happy about me starting to use make-up and so on, so I can't order one online.

Anyway, so I want a flat iron, but he only store where I know they sell some, they only sell ones from some brand called Remington.

So I just wanted to know, if you are familiar with that brand and know if they have good ones, cause I'm a total newbee.

And sorry for my bad English

  • mine doesnt curl :(

  • btw everyone 375 F is around 191 C if you happen to go by Celcius :)

  • Help! I have medium blonde hair that I love but it doesn't curl. My hair is very wavy. I have a conair flat iron and a CVS brand curler (which is horrible). My hair straightens very well in the front where it is straighter, but it doesn't work at all. Any tips? Also, my hair Never holds curls, which is sad for me because I like them. Is there anything I can do to change either of those problems? I'm not sure how wide my iron is....

  • Hi!

Deberias poner estos videos tambien en español :)

    Saludos y Gracias.

  • how about hot tool flat iron?????????? i havent heard ppl say it's good but everybody said the curling iron is so good!!!!!!!!!

  • the hot tools curling iron has an adjustable temperature or at least the ones I have do. I have x2 of them one for tight curls and one for some loser curls :) their really good

  • ps alot of salon professionals like to use them too

  • I love your tutorials! But can you tell me again how you make this curls ? I don't understand this. :P

  • Your bun-hair is totally not nappy or gross! It actually looks super cute!!!

  • What is the difference between these 2 irons?

    1. FHI heat technique ceramic ion styling iron 1 inch

    2. FHI heat platform styling iron 1 inch

they are both 1 inch FHI flat irons but the first one is a lot cheaper than the other. Thank you. great video!

  • Great tips i'll keep them in mind when I go look for one.

  • cool

  • Hey I like the way u showed how to do a Poff

(how ever u spell it) I always have a hard time making one and keeping it on... but I tried and it looks really good.

  • hey.. I see how you put a serum on ur hair before you flat ironed it. Its acually horrible to apply an oil based product to your hair BEFORE. it has to be a dry product, like a spray. then you can apply the oil based for that shine AFTER WHEN YOU KNOW YOU ARENT GOING TO ADD HEAT. Oil adds to the heat. i damaged my whole bottom shaft because of that - a professional told me to use a dry product. CHI carries dry and oil based for a reason

  • learn to type

  • Of course then there are those of us who are totally able to straighten their hair with a curling iron as well. ;)

  • Love the video! I noticed that you didn't really cover how to flat-iron your bangs/fringe? I'm trying to figure out how to do that to create a wave - like a curve-sweep on a side part. My bangs end at my eyebrows so yea. I've been trying to look for a tutorial on how to do that but I haven't found one. If possible, could you make one? Thank you! <3

  • to MileyDOMOKUNpugs 450 C is 842 F, you'll have charcoal on your head

  • AWESOME! I've been wanting tips like these! <3

    THANKS!!!! :]

  • are you sitting on your floor?

  • just so everyone knows.. anything over 450 is burning your hair. no joke. nEVer put your flat iron up to 450.. i recommend not going over 400. & also the oil will offer a form of heat protection.. bets if used on damp hair though.

  • getting your flat iron wet damages it

thats why you use it on dry hair

  • Your videos are so helpful! I was fine with having a flat iron that I had to run through the same chunk of hair over and over again, but now I can totally see why that isn't so great.

Flat irons are so diverse! It's really cool. :)

  • I have a quention girls.......

Oil + flat iron = fried hair?

  • 450 F or 450 C cuz my flatener goes to 200 Celcius and its the only one that works on my hair cuz its so curly and thick.

  • i always feel like putting a protection syrup in my hair will make it look greasy has that ever happened to you? whats the best product to use to make sure it doesnt give a greasy look

  • Do you recommend using those wet-to-straight irons at all?

  • you should NEVER straighten your hair when it's wet because that could damage your hair completely. even though there is a straightener that is called wet-to-straight it's def not good to do that.

  • especially if its ethnic hair i have ethnic hair i need to use a ceramic flat iron

  • use remington wet to straight,

but dont do it when your hair is wet, i mean like damp is okay haha

  • i have that too and i love it, but the screws that hold it together come loose sometimes. does that happen to you also?

  • hmm.

    no.

but it came with a two year warranty in the package.

if not you could take it to someone who is good with mechanical stuff and ask them to screw them in for you.

  • five stars for you saying nappy!

  • should you really use the word nappy?

  • Yeah. I was thinking the same thing.

From a black person's point of view, her definition of nappy is WAY different from my definition.

Thanks for the tutorial tho :)

  • thank you sooo much. turns out i own one of the suckiest flat irons out there. now all i have to do is convince my mom to vuy me a new one.

  • nappy ??? wow.....

  • the definition of nappy when it comes to hair is KINKY-therefore, YES her hair is nappy...

your fine with your nappy and gross descriptions!

  • Hrm. I dont know if some people will respond well to the nappy and gross comments :(

  • heehee I was thinking the same.. but I don't think she means it the way it could be taken :)

  • I cannot thank you enough for this video. It was so helpful to both myself and my teen daughters. You explain things so well and I think it is extremely nice of you to do these videos.

I would love to see more video tutorials on the different things you can do with a straight iron...spending more time and directions on each one. You showed so many quickly on this video which I know was the idea....but we would love to learn more.

Thanks again! You rock!!!!!! Love your blog too!

  • Nappy and Gross : / hmm

    like the red plate one

  • thanks so much for the tips! maybe i'll start using my flat iron more now. happy holidays =]

  • i have a really hard time spending that much on a flat iron...any other options?

  • @whereisyourboy98 ebay! I got a brand new chi for $50.

  • Can u describe how your hair is cut? Show how your bangs are cut?

  • i have try different knid of flat iron but i own the one i LOVE maxiglide.... I just LOVE it... :)

  • Awesome advice, just awesome!

Great advice! And I absolutely love how you always say "just like that", it makes me smile :D x

  • u should unplug ur flatiron anyway, because it still uses electricity if it's plugged in.

    great advice tho

  • awesome! very pretty thanks for the advice=0

  • is this fahrenheit celsius? i have a babyliss pro ceramic, that goes up to 205 celsius, and i find that too hot.. it get things flat faster but makes more frizzys/ fly aways... my hair is almost all one length so i like to have it all dead stright hair...

  • youre pretty! thanks for the tips

  • Good tips! Its great tat you showed a lot of diferent styles using a flat iron!

  • Really good demonstrations. :)

  • Oh my god, amazing advice! :D

  • If you hate her voice and hair that much, why are you watching her video?

  • what the heck :''D why so serious about ONE SENTENCE..

  • my flat iron is just like the FHI one and i think my flat is quite cheap and its great and this tutorial really helped me thanks

  • im so jealous of u u should giveaway iron tools sometime!

  • i live near seattle, so it rains ALL the time and I'm wondering if you have any recommendations to protect hair against rain, wind, etc because I loves curls, but the moment I walk out the door, there was no point in doing it to begin with. Help!

  • request: what are you getting from the mac holiday collections?

  • She did use protectant

  • I've been watching your videos for a long time and I've gotten lots of tips as well as hairstyle ideas from you, I remember when your hair used to look really healthy. That's why I would never use a flat iron, curling iron, or blow dryer on my hair, I'm afraid of my hair getting fried and ending up looking a hot mess.I like your vids, please don't get me wrong. Keep the vids comin :-)

  • 3:57

    lololol

  • my flat iron goes to 475!

  • i straighten my hair once a month and put heat protector on plus i ise deep conditiong twice a week and i still get dead ends fast.even if my dead ends are cut off they come back fast and i dont comb it wen its wet so wth is wrong wit my hair?i've never died it eitherc and i dont blow dry

  • You and I are in the same boat.:)

I just blame it on bad genetics and do everything I can to keep it from getting worse.

Perhaps you can switch to a better shampoo? I'm using Pantene and I've been getting less and less splits and frizz. :)

    Hope this helps!

  • i straighten my hair everyday.

ahah i take a shower @ night blow dry it then straigten it

then go to bed and touch it up in the morning.

lol i dont use product either.

    no split ends.

    magic hair! ahaha jk (:

  • I would use heat protectant if I was you.

  • I cant do that...

I got my hair cut really short...its up to my neck now =[[

  • was this a joke? cuz ur hair rlly did luk crazy lol

  • loooove the tippps! (L)

  • this was soooooo helpful! omg thank you!

  • i didnt exactly get how to create wavy hair with a flat iron...could you do another video with a tutorial on that???

  • are you sitting on the floor

  • do you get dead ends real fast from curling and straightening?

i get them within a couple weeks.

but, i straighten my hair everyday and don't use any kind of heat protector.

    i have the infiniti.

  • i straighten my hair about half the days of the week. i don't have spit ends and i dont even use any heat protector. i barely ever even put conditioner in there. so idk. i guess it just depends on how healthy your hair actually is. straightening probly does contribute to the split ends tho.

  • I thought that. I didnt use heat protectant for a couple months. Now I have so much split ends and breakage in the back of my hair. Please protect your hair.

  • great tips! i gotta get me one of those. i love your channel =]

  • Honey child you do not have nappy hair or near it. Hahahahaha lol.

  • you should always unplug it!

did you know that even if its not on and its plugged in it uses a lot of electricity

  • ive missed tutorials like this :)

  • Lovee it!

    Helped a lot

  • i used to have one that i was really happy with it was one with holes in it so u could flatten ur hair after your towel dryed it it made a world of difference it worked even better with a silkening serum or antifrizz serum

  • I HAVE THE red iron too =] i like it

  • I have the GHD flat iron and i love it. It's pricey, but it's worth the money since I have coarse hair.

  • my flat iron goes to 480

  • & once again another beautychoice video........ greattt :/

  • I don't understand the issue?

    1) I gave out tips on how to use a flat iron in different ways

    2) Flat irons are sold everywhere you aren't forced into buying an exclusive product only from beauty choice

    3) If I don't say where I get the products from I get 340384308 questions about it. Why not save time and just say where the iron came from?

    4) My last 4-5 videos have been about all kinds of other things.

    5) Constructive criticism is most appreciated when it is followed up with suggestions.

  • I think you did a fantastic job on this vid Elessa and you should know that at least one of your subs took something from this and thats me..this was extremely helpful and i enjoyed watching you..as always!!!! thanks again

  • Thanks Diana :) I am so happy to hear that <3

  • Yea people get tired of videos about products from beauty choice. It's like why cant you do a video with products from stores(not online) that people can go out and get instead of online. I mean, i know you explained how to flat iron and what not that was great but it's like seriously beauty choice...once again? :/ Since you mentioned this, i SUGGEST not doing videos of products from beauty choice, but that's just me. You understand?

  • You can get a Chi, FHI and others from other stores. How come no one says this about MAC? Just a thought?

  • Does MAC give out products just like that? Yea, I didn't think so. & because there is people out there(like me) who dont want to spend $15 for ONE eyeshadow when you can get a ton more for $15 at a drugstore or elsewhere, where it's cheap & of good quality. You know, i'm not trying to be "rude" or "disrespect" towards you in any way. This is ust what I think.

  • Then just watch someone elses videos- no need to be rude to someone who offers tons of great advice to people for free! You can get ideas for make up and hair from her videos and buy shadows and products that a similar. No need to hate on pursebuzz

  • Yea obviously she does give good advice, I already said that. BUT seriously it seems like every guru is doing videos of just beauty choice. I enjoy watching her other non-beautychoice videos. !

  • Last time I went to Sephora the wonderful make-up artist gave me a ton of free samples to decide if I wanted to actually buy some of the products.

If your going to hate on all people who have Sigma or Coastal Scents or Beauty Choice products given to them to review (or give away in contests), I'm afraid you won't be left with many make-up youtubers left to watch.

  • I NEVER mentioned anything about sigma, coastal scents, etc. EXCEPT Beauty Choice. LIKE I SAID, i enjoy watching her OTHER videos that DON'T have to be about Beauty choice. & there are other great makeup gurus that I watch. this is entirely MY opinion/thoughts wether you like it or not.

  • Comment removed

  • Whoa, dude.

No need to go all capslock angry.

I'm just saying that a lot of gurus get products from various sites and companies. What's the difference between sigma giving every guru with more than 1000 subscribers a brush roll and pursebuzz using flatirons used from the Beauty Choice websie?

Take a deep breath and make yourself a cup of tea or something. Getting angry at somebody over the internet is a huge waste of frustration and energy.

  • I thought the tip about the romantic wave where you curl it into a ringlet and then press it was so useful though.

And I would have missed out on it if she hadn't made this video.

    D:

  • I like this video much! you seem so calm in a way.. and it's great tips!!

  • Loved it so helpful.(:

But you forgot to show how to do your bangs with it.!

  • pursebuzz loves make hair tutorial!!! I LOVE watching hair tutorial so i love youuuuuuuuuuuuuu LOL keep making plz!!!

  • Do you think a Remington Wet 2 Straight is a good flat iron?

  • i have the remington sleek and curl flat iron it works wonders.. but ive never heard of remington wet 2 straight flat iron.

  • my friend had one of those and her hair looked like a frizzy mess every time she used it, go for vidal sassoon which are cheap but good or ghd which is more expensive but also very good

  • i had the FHI heat flat iron.. and after like not even a yr it went bad. the one plate stopped gettting hot! ): soo i got the paul mitchel one. it works wonders!!! :)

  • i have extremely thick, curly hair !

not like those really really reallly short compact curls, more wavy, but still curly and very very thick .

do you have any suggestions for when i need a quick fix for school other than a messy bun, ponty tails or braids? straightning my hair after it is thinned takes about an hour .. PLEASE HELP ! :)
