  • It was 1995

  • so i was about 5 years old when he died so i was waching a rerun of one of his shows i saw when i was in florida and at a car place

  • YOUR VOICE IS SO SOOTHING!!!!

  • I think your version of making skin color was much easier.

In painting class we had to mix a coppery red with a kind of forest green, and then lighten it up with white. Needless to say, it always created a lot of paint, most of which was wasted. :/ but yeah; thank you for this vid! God bless you and your work!

  • I love painting landscapes..

I am currently selling 10 brushes and 2 knives set that is perfect for creating this type of painting on ebay if anyone is interested..

  • I Like Bob Ross's Soothing voice :-)

  • He Died in 1995?!?

  • Comment removed

  • You're off a little on Bob Ross's year of death. He died on Independence Day in 1995. Go check on Wikipedia. Just letting you know.

  • Bob Ross was born October 29, 1942 and Died July 4 1995.

  • Danny you should do more videos like this it would be awesome to see what you can do and how far you have come.

  • Bob Ross had his show from 1984 - 1994

  • Mustached Dyke Brown (wakka wakka) but for real, cool vid and nice tribute

  • no he died in 1995 on july the 4th

  • i think he died in 1994

  • yeah thats what i was gonna say

  • I love your videos Danny. You also have a bit of that "Zen-like" quality like Bob Ross.

  • Does anyone know what kind of lymphoma Bob had?

  • thats a crazy pallet lol

  • at last i have found a video that is a parody of bob ross, he really was a great man.

  • I got it mate. Then it got scary and I couldn't watch the second half or so.

  • Did you say died 1984???

    Per wiki, he died 1994.

  • i no did he?

  • ur so silly

my contact nfo is on my yt profile! msg me! i8

  • Very nice. You know, even thirteen years after his death, many people still benefit from his benevolent nature, as well as the words of encouragement he spoke so long ago. Even I was influenced by him, in spite of my inability to draw and paint anything even remotely resembling nature. ... Or a straight line, for that matter. Anyway, excellent video. Were he alive, I'm sure he would be proud.

  • Actually you're both wrong. Danny said Bob Ross died in 1984, but he didn't die until 1995 from Lymphoma. Danny, how are you off 11 years?? That's a significant error...

  • hmmmmm bob ross died in 1995 and i herd 1985 from u? lol

  • thank you my dear.

    i love bob too.

  • how did u get the titanium white? and do u think purple and silver makes brown? write back yes?

  • you gotta get one of them palate thing like the orig ross, that way we can see what you mix, but all in all, just what i wanted to see, you are the bob ross of youtube, plz continue the good work

  • haha thanks! yeah i wish i could afford one, but for now i liked using that plexiglass. thank you for this awesome comment!

  • you got the afro spot on. i love it!

  • thank you! it looks just like his bushes!

  • I appriciate your connection with Bob Ross as he has inspired many artists and casual painters for years, but Bob Ross died in 1995.

  • you are absolutely right. i was thinking of alice neel (my other favorite painter) when i was talking and in my nervousness switched the dates. i'm going to go put a disclaimer on my text for the future! thank you!

  • i wish i could have met him, bob ross is a great man and i feel like i know him.

  • yeah he seemed really sincere, which is rare these days. thanks for writing, made me smile (sincerely).

    : )

  • fantastique! :D i really, really love watching bob paint and you as well! it sounds so crazy, but i find it all so relaxing. just watching the colors being artfully smeared across the canvas and hearing the sounds the brushes and knives make just make me want to go to bed. your voice is soothing, just like bob's. boy do we miss him. he'd be proud of you.

  • thank you so much. the noises are totally the best part. well it's hard to say. but i agree, he's beautiful and i miss him a ton. thanks for making my morning!

    danny

  • hey man i used to do tae kwon do also haha and bob ross is one of my idols and im also an artist but im a musician

small world but hey nice paintings

  • thanks so much!

there's something about a guitar which suits a bob lover, maybe the folk th'ang?

    take care buddy!

  • I really enjoyed your video! Not only did it capture the essence of Bob's work, but your presentation did as well. What an excellent tribute. Are you planning to do any more painting videos? Please, please do!

  • i have no plans right now. i'm moving more toward art therapy, which, in some ways, is what bob does, right?

(thank you so much for your kind words!)

  • You're welcome. They are well deserved. What is art therapy? And yes, I agree, that is precisely what Bob does in all his shows. He always had a talented, almost mystical ability to relax and calm oneself down. Good for you for pursuing that! I hope you make as big an impact as Bob!

  • art therapy is basically about using art to express emotions the same way you'd "talk out" a problem on the therapist's couch. i don't know much about it, but a good friend of mine is studying it over at pratt in brooklyn. it's so interesting to me, and i think it would be useful to others as well.

thanks again for being so kind. it's weird/wonderful when strangers give me compliments, encouragement. it makes me smile to know how random things can brighten a day.

    take care!

  • Sounds like an awesome thing (art therapy) I never thought of art as therapy, but in a way, whenever I paint it is like therapy in that it calms you down, re-energizes you, and makes you forget about everything else. Best of luck to you!

I really encourage you to put up another video some day. I know this one has brightened my day!

  • thanks! i'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • this was excellent. really reminded me of bob. great job!

  • thank you very much. it's fun to sort of channel him.

  • To be completely truthfull I never really liked Bob Ross too much. I mean, I used to watch him but after I started taking real lessons at an art studio [oil painting] and learned realism, and divinci's technique [we use a grid and other tedious steps] I found it to be a lot more rewarding than just jumping in and painting free hand. but still, great job, i enjoyed watching, you reminded me of bob, minus saying happy every 10 seconds

  • Well the point of Bob's painting was to just enjoy painting. That doesn't mean that someone has to be good at it; but he just wanted people to have fun. Thus "The Joy of Painting."

  • What a clever and meaningful tribute to Bob Ross! I'm sure he would have loved it. Five stars!

  • oh wow! five stars! thanks so much! : )

  • Hey, you did an amazing job, man. I really enjoyed watching.

  • hey! thank you so so much!

  • Good job on the painting though.

  • Bob Ross died in 1995, unless I missed something.

  • no, you're right. i was thinking of another artist i love (Alice Neel) when i said the date. thanks for reminding me, and for the kinds words!

    take care,

    danny

  • i used to watch him on pbs too!

i thought he was the greatest painter.

    i still think he was.

  • me too. i think he still re-runs too. love him.

  • this is great alot of it really reminds me of his show minus the afro haha

  • why thanks! i tried to channel him a little, ya know?

  • This is great

    Good job on the painting.

    i enjoyed it all.

  • why, thank you very much

  • What city and state is bob buiried in?

  • he's in woodlawn cemetery near orlando florida!

  • Where there alot of people there at the grave site when you went to visit? How long ago did you visit the grave site?

  • there was no one else there, though i went with friends both times. the grave hadn't been touched in a while either, as it was covered with a lot of overgrowth and there were no flowers at all. i visited about two years ago.

  • Bob died in 1995, not 1984.

He would have been 65 tomorrow(29/10/07)

  • yeah i realized that after i shot the video. i was thinking about another painter that i loved, who died when i was two. thanks for reminding me!

    danny
