Nice to see Olivia perform this track as in the movie they had a stand in. Although the film was badly written it had it's moments, and the performance of these two tracks is awesome and classic!
@thalliadruid Oh really. This was the first mashup but the song is(or should I say was) an original, so was the idea too. And you say it didn't work to attract no one? I disagree. Go type in Groove Armada "At The River" in the search box then listen to it. Then after that go type Patti Page "Cape Cod". I wonder where Groove Armada got the idea from? "Glee" does this too, not as perfectly as Olivia & The Tubes but you get the picture. So this was way ahead of it's time.
For the time, good mix of trying to attract the parents and the kids. Did it succeed? No because most people forgot it. But where is Tommy Tutone now?
ESTOY MUY FELIZ DE PODER ESCUCHAR Y VER ESTO OTRA VEZ, SOLO LO VI EN LA PELI "XANADU". ME PARECE FANTASTICA LA CANCION Y LA UNION DE LOS DOS RITMOS, DE GENERACIONES MUSICALES. GRACIAS!!
The 40'sGlenn Miller Rock'n'Roll and the begining of the80'sRock which Robert Greenwald "the director" who of course belong to 40's failed to give the glamour legendary appearence of " ROCK "! with the tubes !!!! but the film still my beautifull dream !
@rarobins17 You are absolutely right. The reason why I mentioned the Blond, Brunette, & Redhead was because Christina also dressed like one in The Candyman Video. This was quite amazing, and for some reason I could see Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys doing something like this.
I had another thought. I wonder if Christina Aguilera was inspired by this Clip when she did Candyman where she dressed up like a Blond, Brunette, and Redhead.
@laminage Well actually, Christina was inspired by the real team of " The Andrew Sisters " . Who sang in the 1940's for the USO. Look up on You Tube, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
@hrthrb Absolutely. I stayed up until 2:00 to watch this performance. Xanadu didn't do well at the Box Office but it is a Cult Classic. Hey did you know that Kenny Ortega worked on this Movie way before he worked with Michael Jackson.
Wow. I remember seeing this during The Midnight Special 30 years ago. I had forgotten that this video wasn't in the movie (though the song was). Talk about a flashback!
@cliffdvr LOL that's where I remember seeing it.. On the Midnight Special... I remember when seeing it I thought. "cool..." lol I'm totally surprised that the vid is still out there lol
What y'all know about this? Lol

Actually, this movie has now gone to cult status and the remastered version in 5.1 surround is fantastic! An original music for the time.

Does this qualify as an early (the earliest?) mashup like we see on Glee?

@hrthrb That is so funny. I just said the same thing yesterday!! Great minds think alike!

@hrthrb Exactly. But this is much better than Glee. This was original back in 1980.
