#5 Finally, and only after Hero Robot #1's death does Hero Robot #2 realize things were not going to get better. Maybe it's the fact that, as a robot, he doesn't think like a human, but he decides to perish rather than find someone else. This film is tragic and yet tragedy is one of the best ways to get our complete and undivided attention.
#4 Having no dialogue in this film limited specifications, nonetheless when one asked the other to help him end his life, (euthanasia) as a friend, it understood. A true friends understands you without having to ask too many questions.
#3 Hero Robot #1 (Silver) & Hero Robot #2 (Gold) were friends, buddies, they stuck together, hanged around like no one else in the film did. This fact lets us comprehend that no matter how dull life can be, we live longer and better with a good friend, a true friend by our side.
#2 We are humans and humans want more from life, ironically enough, we crush those who actually attempt and achieve to be different, unaware of the effects on other people's lives (which had a sad self-inflicting death catharsis in this film).
#1I believe this movie is an example of how monotonous life can be. Perhaps we're not that different after all one from another and if someone dares to be different, they get looked down upon or pressured and chased like in the scene. (Almost like a barbaric witch hunt, nowadays refined by the use of subtle comments that denote jealousy, envy and hatred as well as technological approaches for these comments and coward actions).
They could not be human because they were not human. But they acted on CHOICE to end that condition. And so they became "human" after all. The flame that burned away their surface wish revealed a deeper reality. The final scene is metaphor: he literally "crosses over" the screen. The flame he thought was there to take away his humanity was really the flame that would make him more human than he ever knew he could be. He could not live human, but he will die human.
honestly, be urself and stop trying to be smart and stop! trying to please anyone. "is thats what its really trying to say" think 'think 4 urself! and stop trying to be ????????? anyone. grown. just sounding like ??????
Quite a well done flick. I'm wondering, however, if this final scene was trying to display that there was no escape, as he simply continues on fire...
Then again, films like this, are intended to allow you to draw your own conclusions.
Now i see the things more clear, i think that the robot realized he could be never be human, he could never archieve what he always wanted, that his goal was something impossible to reach, so he realized that the only way to terminate the suffering was to terminate with his own artificial life. He then saw how the reflection of light created the fire and continued to walk alone in the darkness, because he always was alone he continued to perish in order to terminate with the constant suffering.
@BlackLionFilms but he doesn't terminate/perish, just keeps on walking and burning, now suffering even more as a result. Alone, unable to escape, and in darkness... well, not completely, as the flames are creating light... Could find some crazy metaphors there I'm sure.
@sammygun i think a metaphor for the fire is that a machine is cold and dead, fire is warm and full of life. it's constantly moving, if you take away one of it's 3 main components it dies, so it's alive. and him being enveloped by the flames, shedding him of his machine "skin". the flames are now part of him giving him warmth and life all around him
but still the main thing is that he became human when he wanted to commit suicide
@BlackLionFilms The irony of it all is he wanted to be human and thought he couldn't but in reality he displayed true human attributes. Emotions. He was sad when his friend had to be destroyed and he was angry when he smashed his helmet. He was human on a whole real level and he didn't even know it.
The point of the movie was to use minimalism, Daft Punk's technique for music to convey emotions for a film with only the use of music itself. The robots in the film were trying to become human, they had no expression, but with the music, you could sense that they truly had emotions the whole time, that they were "Human After All".
The entire film is meant to take advantage of minimalism, something Daft Punk uses in their music. They brought this over to a film. They did a very good job of using music, not dialogue to convey emotion from seemingly emotionless robots that also have no facial expressions. From the music you can sense that the robots were truly "Human After All" because they truly had emotion.
The original scene was perfect. It had the exact pacing it needed. Splicing in other scenes from the film doesn't make it better. It turns it into a melodramatic montage by trying to feed the emotion of the whole film through the one shot. It has no pace and isn't how anyone should construct a scene, even a fan one. Very cliche'.
I really think that he commited suicide by burning himself. When he realizes that he can´t actually became physically
human, he wants to die, he gave up. And suicide is very human. The fire is a transforming element... In this case, the transformation is in the soul. When he walks to his death, he transforms his spirit into something human. And maybe he doesn´t even realize that he had became what he wanted all along. It´s very tragic and sad. Amazing scene.
@Namadof That's a very good analysis. But I find it even more tragic because he doesn't even seem effected by the fire (transformation) and can't even feel it.
@Namadof I feel that he is, as they say, human after all. His friend couldn't live without a place in life, and gave up. Then with his friend gone, he resorted to suicide because their friendship was the only thing keeping him going. The final scene shows his worst torment. Notice how it was light out when he ignited himself via the sun, and now it is just pitch black. So he is on fire, in the desert, alone. Unable to live, unable to die.
its a singer called Jackson C Frank, hes fuckin amazin! ive loved him for years but to cut along story short just read his life story on wikipedia.such a sad life but a fuckin genius! this songs called "dialogue" or sometimes "I want to be alone". its on his only self titled album.honestly, do yourself a favour an let him into your life as much as you did dylan, cave, cash, lennon, cohen, morrison, strummer, hendrix, macgowan, osbourne or fuckin ,
I think the movie is more about being a social deviant. In the film the two are persecuted for the expression of their differences and become outcasts.
This is an amazing film. Its not a movie, its an actual film... something we haven't seen much of recently. The movie is about what it means to be human, and that being a robot, doesn't mean you aren't human. I mean... robots are made in the image of man, by man. So wouldn't that make them more human than anything? They are human after all.
Any body know who is singing this song and what it call if something different?Good Upload man.
