  • When I first saw Captain Barbossa I sat in the cinema doing the little fingerless glove twiddle, saying 'Gotta pick a jack sparrow or two'

  • 3:16 Thats a smooth robbery there.

  • ron moody= the perfect fagin!!

  • Jack Wild was the best Dodger there was and will ever be. Nobody can top him, and Ron Moody as Fagin? Perfection.

  • @DanniiXDoomm Alec Guinness was a terrific Fagin and Anthony Newley was a terrific Dodger as well. John Howard Davies as Oliver.... not so much. Mark Lester is definetely the best Oliver, no question. But with Fagin and Dodger, four great actors, kind of hard to choose!

  • @boffinme80 Sorry, thats my opinion. Jack and Ron were perfect for their roles. Nobody will ever beat them in my eyes.

  • @DanniiXDoomm Alec Guinness and Anthony Newley were before Ron Moody and Jack Wild. But I accept your opinion.

  • We're doing this at school and the year 12 who plays Fagin, is amazing, he plays the part really well :)

  • I <3 this movie, especially fagin, he ROCKS. I love his singing voice at 0:15

  • after the first time i saw this movie at the age of 6 i had to go to one of my sisters swimming competitions and while we were there i picked the pocket of one man who was watching his daughter swim from the stands... as i pulled it out he turned around angry and my dad had to explain to him that i had just seen this movie. lol it was the best

  • dont u mean 20 were picked and 779 are pickers

  • damn, youtube ad, screams some stupid metal music crap.

  • When my school did a Dickens medley, this was one of two Oliver! numbers. Our Fagin was pretty good, but I just gotta say, no one will ever amount to this Fagin

  • Best Fagin ever!

  • I like Ludacris' version better.

  • THumbs up if you done this as a play

  • @CrashUNDEFINED i played bill sykes my twin brother played fagin

  • the choreography of this is just amazing, like the bit where hes wiping his hands in time to the music, its so well done.

  • Fagin Rocks!! So does the artful Dodger and Nancy. This is the best version of this play.

  • To me, Fagan is the lovable scheming grandfather or uncle. Bill syx is like a scarry as step-father....

  • Why should we break our backs, stupidly paying tax?

    Better get some untaxed income,

Better pick a pocket or two.

Why should we all break our backs? Better pick a pocket or two!

  • Dodger! <3.

  • @kelseataylor1 He is also dead, died from astroke a couple of years ago! R.I.P.

  • folks can anybody show me where to download the full movie with the musical by Lionel Bart, i need this urgently

  • love this song & the film

  • @pocasha Look up "Fagin" on wikipedia - it's fascinating. In the original book, he was called "the Jew" hundreds of times, and Jews at the time complained. Dickens didn't care at first, but later in life he had business dealings with a Jewish guy he liked a lot, and then felt bad about it. So for later printings of the book, he removed a lot of the "Jew" references (even though Fagin was still Jewish). In the movie, Fagin is more of a lovable rogue -- not EVIL like Bill Sikes.

  • @TrudiRose Charles Dickens was jewish!

  • @yorkie6687 No, he wasn't. What on earth made you think that?

  • @TrudiRose I know he wasn't popsie, I was just waiting for someone to take the bait, and you did! lol

  • @yorkie6687 Sooooooooo what....the world is blessed to have Jewish people here...they contribute!

  • At 0:07 oliver looks like what the hell

  • i miss doing this play at skool.. it was totallly fun!!

  • wow...this is what we call mass grooming of thieves!

  • olivers laugh sounds like a girl :) :D

  • at the beginning Fagin sounds like the Count from Sesame Street

  • Brilliant.

  • Fifth graders*

  • And this is were all my crimes began :) hahaha such a bad movie to show a group of goth graders

  • after my class saw this, you had to keep a very sharp eye on your stuff in case someone temporarily stole it

  • @aquagirl4788 even you stole some of my stuff, you sneaky little fink, you

  • I am srry but what does Fagin take out of his pocket at 0:40 it looks like a dildo?!

  • No offence or anything, but Faggin reminds me of the ASBO pedophile that lives in my town

  • It's annoying it always sticks in your head :/

  • the boys are soo cute!

  • Ron Moody is so brilliant in this role.

  • love the voice that Fagin puts on when he sings the first 'pick a pocket or two' :L

  • the best ever potrayal of Fagin, this is brilliant

  • LUDA!!!

  • I love how Fagin can not twist that watch in his pocket at :46 LOL

  • Ron Moody Steals The Scene As Fagin He is so god damn good !!!

  • Looks like Fagin's boys were able to pickpocket 19 people.. Great movie. Watched it as a kid, and we're singing it in my Choir class. :)

  • Wow! Only 19 idiots have viewed this video :)

  • Sounds like a recording from one of David Cameron's "spending reviews"

  • subescribe to mine :!! !! ! omg

  • lol my mum used to put this on for me as a kid, I watched it over and over .

  • In this life, one thing counts, in the bank, large amounts!!!! So true haha Fagin rocks!!!

  • I. Freaking. LOVE. Fagin.

I know he's evil, but he is just hilarious!!! The way he slapped Roger's hand was just great. Seriously.

    XD

  • @TheStealthX Reminds me of an old boss I worked for !

  • @TheStealthX That is The Artful Dodgers("Jim Hawkins") hand getting a whack, played by the late Jack Wild-RIP

  • @TZEITEL10 Jack Dawkins, not Jim Hawkins. Jim Hawkins is from Treasure Island.

  • @BKupchuck57 Thank you for that,i must have a loss of concentration-it happens quite often these days.

  • @TheStealthX It's Dodger, not Roger. But I completely agree.

  • @BKupchuck57 Is it? Thought it was Roger...

  • @TheStealthX It's Dodger. His real name (the boy, not the actor) is Jack Dawkins, but "among me more intimate friends I'm called the Artful Dodger.", as he says in the musical.

  • @TheStealthX As he says in the musical, "Mine's Jack Dawkins... better known among me more intimate friends as the Artful Dodger."

  • @BKupchuck57 I quote willy Wonka: 'I'm a trifle deaf in this ear', meaning that I sometimes mishear stuff. Sorry to cause you bother.

  • @TheStealthX ...Dodger...his name is Dodger, not Roger.

  • @PinkCarnationProDux I apologise, master of intelligence. Forgive me, as I have not seen this movie in so many years. Thats why I searched for it on youtube.

  • @TheStealthX the boy's name is dodger not roger lol

  • @Lizzygnomes Yeah, you're not the first to tell me that.

  • 19 people have obviously never picked pockets

  • Have no fear attack the rear!

  • Bill sikes + bullseye= nightmare

  • Fagin always makes me giggle ^^

  • R.I.P. Jack Wilde (Dodger) you are missed and still not forgotten

  • When you watch/listen to something this good it takes you away from your problems...for awhile at least!

  • hahaaa i always laugh at the boy with the pants that look like a potato bag at @2:03 he's he kinda fiddles with his crotch :L

  • Comment removed

  • i am inlove with dodger he's gorgeous!!! :)

  • I love how the boys sing like an octave higher than usual on this one...it makes it sound so much creepier!

  • @pocasha I hate this comment. Not only because you're calling it antisemitic simply because he likes money. Not that it even makes it clear he's Jewish in this film, and if it's in the book I don't think it matters much now when it was written so long ago when you wouldn't really expect prejudice like that to not be in books. But also because it doesn't even show Fagin as being that bad a person. He takes care of all the boys a bit and was obviously was never happy about Nancy ever being hurt.

  • @pocasha Now, I'm not religious historian, but I believe that stereotype comes from Christians being unable by their doctrine to accept interest on loaned money, but Jewish people could, and therefore, all banks were originally started by Jewish people. Not that I justify that or any other stereotype, I just mean to help clarify the situation.

  • @pocasha The story's limited by the prejudices of the time. It's not the Oliver Twist story but rather the era as a whole that was full of irrational prejudices.

  • Love it!!!

  • I think this scene is like super fun. I mean, how many times do you get to pick pockets in your life? probably close to none. x)

  • 18 people had their pockets picked :D

  • @dschrauf69 By me! >:D

  • i played fagian think thats how u spell it any way lol in a school play at xmas 6 year bak it was mint felt like a scruff but good fun
