  • is it possible for you to lose

  • How did you move all your troops forward in formation like that?

  • DO SOME SURROUNDING MOTION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Correct me if i'm wrong, this is for you experts out there. Were the Urban Cohorts, were they the Roman version of a police force?

  • In this one's case, quantity over quality (though, apparently, there wasn't considerably much of an edge in terms of quantity in this one's case).

  • the spqr general got bash by julius cavalry and do a backflip, man that has to hurt a lot.

  • Nice

  • The general did a backflip :)

  • alot of Rome vs Rome, i like em

I loled when his General died, for no apparent reason

  • alot of Rome vs Rome, i like em

  • @hipie63

LOL, you're actually giving "The Prince of Macedon" advice on how to play Rome: Total War? He's won countless battles where his army have been vastly inferior to his oponents. Do you really think he needs advice?

  • Fighting with a shield, a sword and riding the horse <--- without the stirrup at that.

    That would be very hard.

  • 4:46 There's your General right there... and he's actually fighting with bare hands!! O_o

  • make sure your using a stronger army if your opponent is useing urbans

  • why do you let your troops die in the catapult shot you just make them run so they could only that fewer shots and have less damage, and plus those are princepes not like one of those urbans

  • lol how do u keep winning

  • lol the enemy general does a backflip when he gets wacked with POM's cavalry at the end

  • Wow, how great u slaughter this strong army like nothing, noenemy for PoM

    !!!

  • Pirate: Total War

  • Outmatched in infantry and cavalry. Nice win, as always, through tactics.

  • haha when he said it was still ganna be hard i thought to myself haha not to you ur pom

  • A julius caeser army while using hannial tactics, some great historical friends there lmao

  • i see thee future... rome wins!

  • pöic xD fuck engl...äänd

  • do you upgrade your units for online battles . and if so, do you uograde the exp, or rather weapons/armours?

  • Hey Prince of Macedon, Augustus did'nt create the Urban Cohort, he created the pretorian Cohort.

Just thought id point that out.

  • @FuckingBoozer i think the republican city watchs became later, with the renovation of marius, the urban cohort

  • How he didnt win (the other guy) with better equiped men, good tactics POM

  • i think the other guys general tried a bvack flip but he died

  • peg legs! lol

  • if the enemy had kept his lines together he could have won

  • POM why dont u ever use a unit in loose formation at the front to soak up pila??? LIke town watch or roman archers?

  • I love how at 8:54 your horseman died from hitting the general while killing the general at the same time.

  • lmao, i guess Rome first used Kamikaze tactics hahahaha

  • Absoloutely well fought *claps*

  • Good battle, again to be able to take on advanced Roman armies like you just did with premarian infantry is amazing. Also liked your comments about Hannibal. I am reading a biography on him right now. It is pretty amazing to see his tactics and thinking. He was deinately an excellent commander. Dang Scipio ruined it all! :)

  • haha, i think someone walked into the room at the end because his voice gets all quiet and higher. lol.

  • they steered their horses with their feet

  • has anyone ever noticed that people do better when put under pressure like making a video on youtube like people on halo do better making a montage

  • do u hav any #1 batle cus i cant find any

  • yeah he does u just got to keep looking

    i just saw one

  • oh cool

  • historically the urban cohorts were the police department of rome

  • LOL pause at 5:06. some dude leaps in the air like Mario

  • wow, you were compleatly outgunned, and you still managed to get a clear victory. obviously you are very good

  • Very nice battle! Very good manouvres, I'm buying myself Total War (haven't decided which yet), hope I have as much battlefield tactic as you do!

  • Thanks, man, and Empire Total War is coming out next week.

  • Why is it called spamming?

  • Because when people spam e-mail online, you're getting a crapload of the same e-mails. So basically, spam in Rome Total War means a crapload of the same type of unit.

  • Oh, I see. I thought the term would be used for using typically useless and irrelevant units; that's why I couldn't see the connection with all those legionary cohorts.

  • Prince, how do you get your cavalry to run from the enemy? Did you have to check on them so that they weren't caught while u manouvered the infantry? what keys did u use? THanx

  • Read the instructions. Seriously, how do I run away? Just freaking click away from the enemy's troops. Use your mouse-keys obviously.

  • I just wanted to know if there was some a key to avoid ur cavalry being caught by enemy cavalry, like when, for instance, light cavalry (javalins) are never caught by heavy cavalry because they are in skirmish mode. Thanks for ur message, sorry if I pissed u off!

  • Alright then.

If your cavalry doesn't have missiles, then you don't have the "skirmish" button which means you have to manually run your horses away.

  • in medieval 1, there was a rout button that you could use to make ur troops run away and then you could call them back later, i dont think its in rome though.

  • There's a "withdrawal" button in RTW.

  • the army established by Augustus

  • i dont think they are to strong

  • What are you talking about?

  • wow, you seem to be a master at strategy! are you gonna be in the military?

  • Thanks, but my interest in military affairs is focused mainly in Ancient Warfare ;)

  • lol insane vid nearly as good as i used to be.

  • Don't pretend you're great. I've played all of those "old school pro's," and they suck harder than Pamela Anderson. Burn in hell?

  • you are amazing at this game i never seen anyone as good as you. enjoyed the vid thx!

  • Thanks, man, glad you liked it =)

  • That was a great battle, one that I certainly couldn't win. You are a tactical genius!

  • Thanks, man, glad you enjoyed ;)

  • btw, I play as "OtterNZ" on RTW, I'm not sure if I'm ever on the same time as you, but if I was it'd be cool to have a game against you. I'm not very good (under 20 online games), but I think I could probably learn a bit by listening to your commentary about things like "this was a mistake he made because it let me do blah blah"

  • Yeah, I get asked that question at least 10 times a day.

Also, the only problem with playing against me is that I don't post every win, and I currently have over 310 people wanting to play me now from YouTube. I've played over 100, but everyday, there's more and more people asking for a game.

  • lol, Never mind then :P

  • Your best bet is to catch me online in a game. That's how most of these people were able to play me (by chance).

  • lol prince, I think he's asking how to play online...just like everyone else. Read the manual guys, on my one the info about multiplayer starts on page 75 (contents say this). or go to the profile of the guy who uploaded this video and read his info, it gives a link to his myspace which has detailed step by step instructions on how to get online. It's listed in his blogs.

@Prince, I'm starting to get as annoyed about this as you :P

  • great watch. that cavalry bait was an eye opener.

  • Thanks, man, glad you enjoyed =)

  • hi man if got that game but how u play without fighting by urself?

  • I don't understand the question. I play against humans online.

  • Yea, I believe that was the key to this battle. I think you would have lost if you did not isolate his cavalry.

  • lol his general done a backflip when he died btw nice vid.

  • Excellent video Prince, proof that superior troop quality don't always win the battles for you.

Curious, what would you have done if he didn't take the cavalry bait?

  • I would've looked for another way to make his cavalry ineffective.

  • Prince be careful Attila very tough he beaten lots of people he owned me

  • I'm one of the top players online. Attila is mainly a Campaign player for RTW.

  • wow where did you get the game frm ME WANT TO PLAY!

  • In the US, they sell "Rome Total War" at most stores (that sell PC games). I think you can order it over Amazon as well.

  • Great victory

  • Thanks, man.

  • nice battle. I didnt know that casaer fought wiyth his army in the front lines.

  • Well, he didn't exactly do that, but he didn't shrink away from a fight either if troops were coming after him.

  • great work mate any tips for a n00b and have u ever played against clooney the scourge

  • Play lots of games, don't be discouraged by losses, and remember that game is only a game.

    Yes, I've played Cluny.

    No, I haven't played Attila.

  • Highlight of the battle (IMHO): 8:52 when a Roman Cavalry does kamikaze and kills the Senate general.

    Nice fight btw.

  • Roman Kamikazes for the win ;)

  • always you have got goot strategy.

    I dont understand that

  • Sometimes, my strategy isn't good, but because I act fast, I can make my strategies (even my bad ones) work. Not always though.

  • and sometimes i see your oponent is (but real sometimes) stupid

  • I play all skill levels: beginner, intermediate and experienced. If I think my opponent isn't so good, then I'll use a weaker army (like this one). This is an alien concept to most people because they just want to win at all costs.

In any case, don't f**king call my opponents "stupid." Why is someone "stupid" because they lose to me at a videogame? It's just a game.

  • Ok OK but sometimes you destroying his unit and he has got havy cavalery or somethinks like thad and they do nothink

  • really i thought that it was ceaser who started to put the cross emblem. bt any way cool fight =)

  • Nah, man, Jesus wasn't even born yet in Julius Caesar's time.

    Google 'Constantine the Great'

  • good fight:) do you now how to get a cd key to rome total war ?

  • Yeah, buy the game new lol

  • when i go online the status bar says not compatible for every game what does this mean and how do i solve it so i can play online games?

  • Click on name. Read profile.

  • great battle,

i didn't know that ceasar based his troops on the principe's

  • Well, as I said, the troops he used were the same used by Marius. Marius did away with the Triarii, Principes, and Hastati. The new unit was uniformly equipped (like the Principe).

  • @general belisarious Hannibal was one of the few generals who fought with his troops on the front line. That's one of the things that made him a great and popular general.

  • Not quite. Hannibal preferred to stay back and direct his troops.

  • You can always count on Hollywood to dramatize the fighting. On one movie on youtube, it shows Hannibal fighting alongside the Gallic mercenaries in the center of his lines at Cannae.

  • Well, I wouldn't doubt that Hannibal would fight alongside his troops if the enemy came to him. But he was no Alexander the Great. Alexander would be one of the first people into battle. He'd be right there with his cavalry plunging first into battle.

But yeah, Hannibal preferred to see the whole picture and direct his troops as such.

  • i believe it was Hannibal who started the hang back and direct troop trend. ive heard Napoleon lost Waterloo because he didnt observed battle field on his horse. thus he had bad knoledge of battle field

  • nice

  • Thanks

  • weren't urbans the poor people of rome?Did this correspond to the soldiers? Like the poor people fought as legions in the army? In history we were learning about the "urban poor".

  • Oh no, definitely not. "Urban" just means they were confined to urban areas.

  • And were, in fact, actually a police force for Rome, and although they were more heavily armed than most police there were certainly not elite infantry.

They join praetorian cohorts, and legionary and praetorian cavalry as non-historic units added to beef up Rome.

  • And right after making thiscomment I see you've already addressed the issue. D'oh.

  • Doh!

  • also i didnt notice it as much in this battle but in many of your other battles you often run your calvery thru ur inventry is that to save time?? or do the wins outwiegh the losses im sorta confused with that move

  • What losses? You don't lose troops when you guys run through your men with horses. Your men fall down, but they don't die.

  • how do you get online set up ive'e searched google for an hour and i can't find anything.

  • Wow, this is my 12th time answering this today.

Click on my name, and read my profile.

  • nice vid man btw i think ceaser put a cross on his army because he had seen a red cross in the sun a day or two before a battle he thought it was a sign. but yeah nice vid 10/10

  • That was Constantine the Great actually ;)

  • Lol gg :D i dont often go for historically accurate armies as some fool online is likely to spam :(

btw Urban Cohorts are way over rated.

In history they were the policemen of rome :D

  • Well, I've covered what they were. They were actually a very prestigious unit to be in (just beneath the Imperial Praetorian Cohorts). But yes, they were basically a police force for Rome (alongside the smaller police force). The Urbans handled the big things like riots.

I wouldn't call them over-rated though. They're the best infantry in the game in low money. The absolute best.

  • oh thats interesting

So the Urbs were basically highly respected SWAT and riot response teams?

  • Well, maybe I shouldn't have said "prestigious," but they at least got paid more than being a legionnaire. It was still more preferable to be with the Praetorian Cohorts because they got paid the most, and did the least.

  • oh ok

    thanks for that ;)

    I <3 the romans :P

  • thats how to kill romans

    >:)

  • lol glad you liked it

  • nice battle

  • Thanks, man.

  • watching you fight is amazing when i play medieval 2 i get sluaghterd, rome total war im pretty good at but sometimes i just get sluaghtered :( thanks fo giving me history and tactics to use in future games :D

  • I also lose quite a few times at Medieval II, but I haven't played many games with it ;)

  • great battle once again i feel so repetitive saying this :)also i cannot belive the micro management skills that u have idk if i could get that good even if i did play as long as you have. and im glad to see that ur back on rtw!

  • I've only been playing for 2 years now ;)

    Thanks for the comment, man.

  • Nice, I like it when you do "historical" battles like this :)

  • Thanks, man ;)

  • 8:55 - 9:00 LOL! Nice flip, General!

    Good video too, Prince! 5/5

  • Yeah, he was trying out for the gymnastics team lol

  • lmao

  • lol

  • hey man i just want to say u are like the Ceasar Hannibal Alexander at this game man u are awesome. GG man GG

  • Glad you enjoyed, man. If I'm using Rome, I'm most inspired by the great Romans such as Julius Caesar, Scipio Africanus, Aetius, Belisarius, etc.

  • Pre-Marian Vs post and you won, thats just amazing. Were you inspired to do this because of your debate about pre-marian success with cluny?

  • Not at all. Everyone knows that I've won with Pre-Marian armies for a long time. You can even see my videos with them from 1-2 years ago.

My only beef with Cluny is that he unintentionally degraded my opponent. I have deep respect for my fellow MP players unless they're trash-talking scumbags like Gaz.

  • Also, as I said, I've won many battles using Pre-Marian vs No Rule armies (which is a lot harder to do than a Pre-Marian vs Pre-Marian army).

One last thing: my army here was actually the type of army that Marius would've introduced. I've eliminated the Equites, Velites, Hastati and Triarii. Everything's been standardized into a form of Principes. Obviously, they weren't Principes, but they were modeled after them. =)

  • how do u play online???

  • Click my name, and read my profile.

  • principe pwnage!!!(or whatever they were called in caesars time) Have you every noticed all the great leaders and commanders were the ones that fought with there troops, e.g Caesar, Alex The Great, Hannibal.

  • Indeed. However, Hannibal preferred to stay back and direct his troops.

Glad you enjoyed the video =)

  • i know, but i couldn't think of anyone else lol =S

  • when did you destroy his onagers?

I'sor for asking i didnt see if you did!

  • If I recall correctly, I never destroyed them. What happened was he moved his Onager away from the infantry fight. But seeing how close the fight was, he threw his Onager crew into the infantry fight as well. So they probably bounced off of one of my Principes.

  • Very well done. ;) to win with princeps against Urbans is awesome. Its a pitty that urbans and Pretorians are so superior, they destroy the whole game balance.

  • I think the worst thing is how strong Praetorian Cavalry is (in addition to Legionary Cavalry). They need to raise the cost of Praetorians, and greatly weaken Legionary cavalry.

  • I think they should ban Praetorian Cavalry and weaken Legionary Kav. Also the urban cohort should be weaken or the numbers of them should be reduced so that they have as much units as a cav unit.

  • Definitely. This game needs a serious patch.

  • Nice vid pom.

    but a litle Q.

how do you make your roman footsoldiers charge without stopping and throwing their spears? I always get that problem, even when they have th

  • , even when they have they have thrown all of them, making their javalin symbol red.

  • You right click to attack as normal but hold the Alt key while you do it.

  • Hold alt and click on the enemy unit you want to attack, this will also work if you want archers/skirmishers to engage in melee combat.

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks, man, and a few people already answered your question so I won't have to answer that ;)

  • Nice victory there price :). Ur opponent done really well there but u managed to outmanouver him. I personally prefer Hannibal to Ceaser but Ceaser was also a brillent general and leader.

  • Glad you enjoyed, man ;)

  • Caesar not Ceaser!!!

  • bloody battle i say lol

  • Bloody indeed!

  • Great Battle!

    Loved it!

  • Thanks, man.

  • Awesome vid Prince.

i agree with the urbans being too strong in RTW.

  • Indeed. They should be weakened significantly. Same goes for the Praetorian and Legionary Cavalry. Way too strong.

  • nice video lol at 9:17

    a roman shouting aaaaaaaaaaaah

    5/5 =]
