  • Thanks. A LOT!

  • Hey Dave thanks a lot. there is no way Im gonna pay $300 + for a box and a piece of glass. have u seen the prices online??? crazy. anyway thanks man.

  • Thank you for this tip! I also heard of google Pad prompter - have you ever tried this?

  • under 5 dollars. but you need an ipad

  • @Bboychill210 haha true

  • This is the neatest idea ever. I just need something like this for home use. Thanks a million.

  • I made a video of my own teleprompter design that utilizes a tablet or smart phone, its cheap, fairly easy to build, small and you don't have to destroy your iPad box incase you plan to sell. Check it out on my channel and thumbs up this comment if it helped you out :)

  • Which iPad app do people recommend for mirroring the image on the iPad screen? Also, what are people using to enable the presenter to control the scrolling? I've seen an app that lets an iPhone or iPod Touch act as a controller for a *Mac* teleprompter app, but what I really want is iPhone acting as controller for iPad2 which is acting as display. Suggestions?

  • @AIDSvideos well, Prompt-It will work for you! search for it on youtube and go to the account from them. they're great!

  • Found an alternative for those of you like myself who wouldn't be caught dead with a shitty looking teleprompter like the one in this video. Sorry Dave, your design is really cheap, but also cheap looking. I found one just like in the link and it only cost me 60 bucks on amazon.

Check the youtube user (iserviceit) hes got a teleprompter review video

  • FANTASTIC!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS, JUST WHAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!! :D

  • Freakin' Cool! what a great idea. So easy, you'd be foolish not to at least try this before spending $500+

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Wow David that was fantastic, thank you! My favorite tip was the mirror tint on the glass. I bet I can get a window tinting company to hook me up on a 12" piece of tint...

  • Wow. I was just about to buy the ipad teleprompter. Thanks for saving me $700!!

  • Thanks for that information.

  • Thanks for the great idea. Check out my embellishment on our youtube channel palmeridigital.

  • i person thought this said teleporter

  • nicely done. thanks for making this video

  • Instead of getting beam splitter glass, you can get a mirrored iPad screen protector from ebay for a couple bucks and put it on the glass.

  • THANKS

YOU ARE GREAT IT HELP ME SO MUCH

I MIGHT USE IT IN NEAR FUTURE

    EREZ SHAKED

  • Awesome solution. Thanks Dave.

  • What type of mic are you using? It works great! Thanks in advance.

  • Absolutely first rate educational material. Thank you very much!

  • Fantastic tips! Thanks very much Dave. :)

  • I don't have an iPad so my friend is letting me borrow his. Thus, I couldn't exactly ask him for his box to build a teleprompter. ;-) Luckily I recently got a book from Amazon.com and had not thrown out their shipping box yet. It was the perfect size! I also order beamsplitter glass from telepromptermirrors[dotcom] for $30. Cheap. My teleprompter looks totally ghetto, but for $35 this is the way to go! Thanks for posting the video!

  • LOL I don't even know my own website url! I said "videos" instead of "video".

    The corrected url is:

    StreetMagicVideo[dotcom]/trailer/

(remove any blank spaces that YouTube inserts)

  • (...continued from my previous post)

    (Part 3 of 3)

To minimize noticeable eye scanning, I held cue cards directly below the camera lens, plus had the host stand further back from camera. This worked pretty well, you can watch her eyes in the trailer: StreetMagicVideos[dotcom]/trailer/ You gotta look hard to notice any eye scanning.

    (continued in next post...)

  • (...continued from my previous post)

    (Part 2 of 3)

I'm an iPhone app developer, and for our first app (Street Magic 1: Levitations) I had to make cue cards for the host to read intros & outtros for 18 tricks. (so 36 short scripts) Plus, each trick also has a "how-to tutorial video" which reveals the secret. So, another 36 short scripts! (granted, some scripts are just one sentence, but others are several paragraphs)

So you can see my desire for a teleprompter!

  • Kudos to Dave for an outstanding video. It took me a couple days to find my iPad box, but now have it in hand. Before I do any cutting of my precious box, I want to make sure I can pull this off, so I'm going to make some phone calls and find a source for a piece of glass, preferably beam-splitting glass as author has suggested.

Running out of characters, so I'll continue this in another comment post......

  • Excellent explanation. Thank you

  • Great video. There is a free iPad teleprompter app called "On Air"

  • that was the best teleprompter video ive ever seen on youtube..good job.

  • Sorry, but I feel the iPad Promoter is one of the worst ideas ever, at least for public speakers who are in front of a live audience . A real, transparent prompter is hard enough for most people to use well, even when someone else is regulating the speed. This is a good way to make people destroy all of their eye contact with their audience and sound robotic. A simple sheet of paper with notes is a far superior 'prompter."

  • smart!!! =]
