Magnificent ! In my childhood I was introduced to this work through this version without singing... I love it since then. And I have to say thanks so much, Marc Herrera for the excellent audio of your video :)
There is a metalband called Masterplan, who used this in one of their songs: Lonely Winds of War. Very beautiful song aswell so if you like symphonic metal you should check it out
@dlightman1978 @dlightman1978 , Tolkien said that he had been inspired by the strength of this song to write the lord of the rings. Good question though: I forgot to write it

I've been looking for an orchestral arrangement of Prince Igor (without the singing). My dad had a CD of it when I was a kid but I haven't been able to find it. What recording is this?
@haveajerk polovitsians were the nomad warrior people of turkish origin, who lived on the steps of current southern Russia. They were disappeared in 11-12th centuries. Some historians say, that were part of kipchak tribes and just went with them and settled in the territory of Southern Caucasus and Hungary
I agree with delightman1978. Both are excelent works of art, but have very little in common. A better choise for the music, in my opinion, if you were to mix them, would be probably the Polovstian MARCH from the same opera. I like the try though.
Best of the clasic music.. Thank you Alexander !

I read that Tolkien was inspired by Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen and old German mitology to write The lord of the rings...

Is this the version directed by Valery Gergiev ?

@casibefa
Do not think so. Doesn't sound like Gergiev's style.
Though maybe it is.

LOL , u got thums down from LOTR fans.
The orignal opera didn't have a video :),
so to author made a compilation of LOTR images that he liked and thought that many others will like too.
You can make your own version of video editing if you like.
Personaly I just like the opera.
