  • Trapper Jack...I appreciate the heck out of the Fungus Amongus trick. Just think of the old-timer tricks we DON'T know about. Excellent work!

  • This stove could be greatly improved, simply by placing a small flower-pot over it. Allow space at the bottom for air and as the ceramic heats it will cast a lovely heat.

  • Do you have to dry out the Fungus?

  • good vid, I havent done this with any fungus but like the inuit I have used stone bowls and raccoon fat, works just as well. Smells a little funky at first but you get used to it.

  • wow

  • All your videos are great man. I really enjoy watching and learning from them. Hope you continue to make them for a long time.

  • I give blood every 54 days, because the blood bank wants it. They test my cholesterol. I can read the results online. I was going to use fish oil capsules to see if they change the results as they are supposed to. But, I bought the bottle with you and your oil in mind, along with many of the others who like little "kits." A few of those pills would smell up some snare sets, or some hooks, and lube something or even help burn with a small wick. Experiment and see what you think of it.

  • fish oil is a primary source of fuel for lamps and stoves. a much sought after item for primitive peoples.

  • @derdagian1 flax seed oil.and hemp oil..is even better man,for your heart ,and cholesterol

  • @derdagian1 LOL..u fuckin dumb redneck idiot...does it smell like fish oil?..thats cause its not fish oil..that has been a myth for 50 years now..bonehead..start cooking with it then...see how sick u will get ,,u fuckin dummy!!!!!

  • @5tonyvvvv I looked for that after I posted, and most info does discount the fish oil part of the story as a myth.

The fish oil I posted in the beginning is capsules.

A few in a small container to protect them was what I posted.

You can't write, spell or read, so the idea that bacterial contamination would propagate inside an aerosol can seem possible to you, but not to the Pam and cooking spray manufacturers....

    Are You a roid crook?

  • @derdagian1 can u read.i left it in the sun ,your a real fuckin moron...wd 40 is not fish oil !!!...start cooking with it,and see how sick u will get..

  • @5tonyvvvv And, by crook, I was referring to pirate or butt pirate. "crook"

I can't find anywhere where I advocated cooking with it or ingesting it.

Yeah, you seem like a person who might frequent the glory hole down at the rest stop for some gleet. lol

Toast a bowl and do what you fellows do.

Please allow me to ignore you. Thanks

  • @derdagian1 if it was fish oil it would turn rancid in a metal can like that..i have wd 40 that is 3 years old and still good..and i left it in the sun..and it still works great...Fish oil would smell like rotten eggs...your a real dummy man..but u made me laugh!!! thanx bonehead.

  • Wow

    Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks.

  • This was amazing! Where did you learn to become so skilled at bushcraft?

  • is there any way this stove could be replicated with a natural easy to obtain oil/fuel or is that not possible?

  • pine sap is primary, but nut oils, seed oil, motor oil, machine oil,and candle wax can also be used.

  • Great flame there. I my self have never done one but that looks good. I have some insparation to go fungus hunting to try it myself.

  • nice

  • COOL! THANK YOU FOR THE INFOR!!!!!!

  • I think a smokeless fire would be good for day burns where you didn't want to give away your position.

  • this is the world famous Indian smokeless fire, thanks for pointing that out...

  • Great tip plus the oil carried with you is for this would be multi purpose.

  • one fuel is used for all heating , lighting , and cooking needs.

  • good stuff ..can even convert some engines to run on vegetable oil

great + informative vid as always Jack

  • awesome man! Do you know how to make a stove that maintains a smaller flame? Im just thinking if i wanted to put one of these in a shelter, i would want a smaller flame.

    10/10

  • @EvergreenBushcraft

    just make a smaller wick,,,

  • Well i thought he said eventually the whole fungus would start to burn, so i was asking if their was a way to eliminate that from happening... but i guess i'll just have to go make one and figure that out for myself!

  • @EvergreenBushcraft

the whole thing would not start to burn if you use a smal wick...and that the flame dont reach the ends.

  • well said ,, just slice the bracket up into wicks and use as many (or few) as you want.

  • Very cool Jack! Are there any tree fungus that should be avoided when burning candles or cooking food? I would like mire info on your survival kit please :). 5*

  • just regular vegie oil. the brackets grow on dead trees, especaily Oaks.

  • great vid! 5/5

in uk we call thoes bracket fungi 'crampballs' or 'king alfreds cakes'

    regards

    calum

  • No we don't..
