Five years ago my son and I drove from Dallas to Oklahoma City for Thanksgiving. Cold air had roll down from the Arctic along the plains, never warmed by any body of water, into North Texas. There had been no money to fix the car's heater, and long before the Arbuckle mountains came into sight I rued my lack of gloves. Charlie peeked out from under a blanket, and warmed my hands by rubbing them in turn. We sang a song we made up with the chorus, "Killer Bunnies." I may never have been happier.

I had a similar experience with pigs. I had this runt when I was a child, we even named it Porky. It got older and then one day dad loaded it into his truck and I didn't see ol' Porky again until dinner a couple of nights later when part of him was cooked and on my plate.

YAY, you're back!

My mother and grandmother got into an argument about some small detail regarding plating the mashed potatoes, my grandmother freaked out, told us to pack our things and get out, set the food on the table and then had her husband take Polaroids of her standing at the head of the table crying, saying "I want to show everyone what they did to me!!"

It all got resolved and we wound up staying and having dinner, but it felt like Jerry Springer there for a bit. :D

My Parents gave me a Rex Rabbit when I was a child. I named him Arthur and he was a beautiful bunny (As you can assume, due their coats fetch a great deal as coats). He was a fine pet till I was told he ran (hopped) away one evening. Later, for thanksgiving we had a turkey and what I was told was a funny looking chicken. Though I did not eat my bunny I watch the rest of the family eat him. I still have his pelt somewhere. Ouch.
