  • im the 254th person to like this, buya!! xD

  • Definitivamente a melhor do Dire Straits...intensidade na letra e na musica do começo ao fim... a bateria é exemplar

  • It is REAL music people!!!

  • spanish city was where mark knoppfler hung out in newcastle as a kid...arcades amusement rides etc....

  • Too bad mark had this guitar stolen, this one and the replacement are 2 of the best sounding strats he had. Would love to get my hands on a set of those F500T's!

  • This has cool written all over it.

  • Ronbo710... No problem. In an interview Mark Knopfler said when he his brother were kids they would often visit the Spanish City, visit the arcades, amusements and go on the rides, hence the references to the 'Spanish City' in this song.

  • For those who don't know or maybe don't care. The Spanish City was a fun fair in Whitley Bay, Newcastle. The home city of Dire Staits.

  • @Wallydaft GREAT bit of info! There is something about this song that is pure childhood history and I LOVE it!!

  • This Dynamic sound was more paramount sounding with late 70's music impressario era controlled radio play;infact, borderline played classic rock was always the preferred listening for my ears. Deep tracks rule!!!!!!

  • Like the spanish city to me ,when we were kids,,,,gracias por existir,y por enseñarme el idioma inglés para poder apreciar toda vuestra arte,,,Thank you Dire Straits,,still the best.

  • @aabhto1040 Well if you absorb music through your mouth... =D

  • Uh Oh!

    I broke the replay button!

  • this song should never end

  • @mrleejon1 Near enough, it goes on for 8 glorious f**king minutes!

  • One of the best guitar solos theat I've erver heard. It speaks.

  • @tiagohardco Man, you got that right--it sings, sobs, speaks, and you want it to go on forever. What a f*king epic song this is . . .

  • Nice Song,...

  • Ending solo! Not a single unnecessary note.. a classic!

  • @armensog87 There's such things as unnecessary notes in a solo? Isn't that the point?

If it is, which I doubt, then Rhapsody of Fire should just give up and go home.

  • @Ascyltos If it was for me they could easily do that :) but as they have fans, let the fans decide. But for me its like talking, non stop blabla doesnt mean you're saying something, you can say something strong with just a word or two, and talk for hours but just shatter the air around. Mark is the guy who can speak. I'm not against many notes though, but that should be very well tempered and not be a goal by itself, which most of the shredders forget all the time. its not a speed test, its music

  • Proboably my favorite Dire Straits song,

  • totally one of the best Dire Straits songs ever written...

  • The greatest song of the greatest band!

  • thanks for uploading this song...... really cool !!!

Dire straits has allways place in my heart that no one else can fill special thanks to mark knopfler mine hero!

  • @jabeli1 I know exactly what you mean! I feel the same way about Rush, and I'm only 15, but have been listening to them for only about 4 years. However! I am incredibly addicted to their music and cannot wait to see their upcoming tour. I'm a modern day Rush fan and I am proud to say so!

  • Getting Crazy On The Waltzer

  • I freaking love this song. I really do. But, does anyone else think its maybe just a bit too lengthy. If you disagree i totally get it, i love their songs style, they tell amazing tales. Very moving stuff, but 8 and a half minutes? Romeo and Juliet wasnt even 6.

  • I WISH I WAS BORN TO SEE THIS! I AM ASHAMED TO BE 13 IN THIS SHITTY GENERATION!

  • Huge !!!

  • Dire Straits are still the best!

  • 30 Years of Great Music!!!

  • It is Cullercoats, which is before Whitley Bay on the north east coast,Tynemouth comes before Cullercoats..This was a lovely little fishing village until the local council pulled it down in the mid seventies..

  • Great song, one of my favorites!! Thanks for posting!!

  • This is such a beautiful song... <3

  • An absolute gold plated classic!

  • Dopo questo album, la fine!!!

  • Who wishes for what the masses need. Saw ds in Dusseldorf Phillipshalle in 81. Never forget light reflection off steel guitar, great crowd, good German beer, superb music. Pure magic for an Aussie lad and friends. Highlight.

  • Absoultely outstanding. This song, this album, simply outstanding.

  • Totally agree, to appreciate this song fully though you have to have been to the spanish city! Sadly, they knocked it down!

  • the hoppings is the next best thing though

  • the hoppings is the next best thing though

  • Nah, nothing beats the spanish city.

  • Which Spanish city was/is it?

  • It was the spanish city fairgrounds that were at the sea front of Whitley Bay near newcastle. Whitley Bay is where Mark Knopfler Grew up. I can only assume he spent a lot of time at the fairgrounds, leaving a lot of childhood and adolecent memories.

  • I went through that album like crazy, best DS album of all times.

  • cos sultan of swing and money for nothing is loved by every one ..these songs are for the true dire straits fans

  • Best song of Dure Straits... wonder why in America they only play Sultans of Swing or Money for Nothin'?

  • great song!

can anyone help me finding the hammond's sound at the beginning of this song?

  • its Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel

the end solo must be one of the most heartbreaking guitar solos there is.

  • just for the sake of making the 1st comment in a long time... this song is absolutely magnificent

    best of the album

  • una de las mejores canciones rock de la historia.

yo creo que para mi la mejor XD, y desde luego el mejor final de una cancion de rock
