  • ear rape!!!

  • This game should be one of the Holy Grails for the NES library. What a conversation piece...well, what Nintendo game do you guys want to play? Mario? Duck Hunt? How about Mortal Kombat on the Nintendo...yeah, that's right...MORTAL $%^^&# KOMBAT on the NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM.

  • is there a snes version of this??

  • @kelly2000398

The SNES version is the actual Mortal Kombat II.

  • N.T. could have put more effort into into Mortal Kombat II/III (actually MK I). This one is definitely better.

  • Doesn't seem half bad.

  • The gameplay itself is actually halfway decent. The graphics are halfway decent. The music is tollerable, unlike Mortal Kombat Trilogy, another pirate made by the same guys who did World Heroes 2 for the NES. Overall, for pirates, these guys did okay. I give them an A for effort.

  • Mortal Kombat Trilogy's controls are just god awful. It would have been better if that were kept.

  • Mortal Kombat Trilogy is the reason I have been too much of a pussy to try other Mortal Kombat NES pirates. And yet, Special 56 People Edition is pretty decent in it's secret mode. Maybe I should braven up and at least try them. I mean, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is about as bad as it gets. I don't see how the others could be any worse.

  • You should. The pirate of MK1 isn't great, per se, but about on the level of Special 56 Peoples.

  • Actually, at DGEmu, I found TWO Mortal Kombat 1 pirates. One was made by Yoko, the same guys who made the horror known as Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and one made by the guys who made Special 56 People edition.

  • Okay, I tried their Mortal Kombat 1 pirate (Labled as Mortal Kombat 3) and I can say it is far inferior to their sequal. Everyone only has two versions, but there is no secret mode this time to reduce them to one each. That, and the graphics are also inferior to Special 56 People edition. My main gripe is that everyone pretty much has the same moves. A projectile and a self projectile. Even though the SP is different for each, they're still the same type of attack.

  • It might not be that good, but it's still parsecs ahead of the Yoko version. Although to be honest, the Yoko Version was still better than Mortal Kombat Trilogy, but I think I think that because I turned off the sound. I only heard one song in the game, but that was enough to tell me it would be the same garbage as in MKT. The graphics are worse, but in a way, easier to look at. The gameplay is slightly better. Not saying much, however, since it still sucks. That's my review for both.

  • I personally haven't tried the Yoko one, but still, altogether I'd say that Special 56 Peoples is the best of what I've played.

  • If you do a hard reset on this game, you can play a secret mode that reduces the 56 people to 14.

I have played this and I can say that these guys really tried. There is only six stages, and no fatalaties, but it has all characters (Except Smoke and Jade, but they were never playable in the origonal anyway.) and most of the moves stay true to the origonal (Except Scorpion doesn't have his signature spear in this game.)

  • I am aware of this. It's too long on the normal mode.

    Also, you forgot Noob Saibot.

  • Mortal Kombat Special 56 Peoples: The mother of all videogame ripoffs... But Not Bad at All!!!

  • True!
