@Brinkles101 as much as i want to agree with your statement I think you are wrong in your assessment of trance music as a 'universal' music that transgresses time, culture, race etc. I think trance is exclusive to Western cultures atm. My point is, is that music is all relative and that other types of music in other cultures can emote the same response we get from trance. I don't think we are there yet with some kind of world trance revolution. and trance hasn't withstood the test of time yet.

I personally agree with L33terPan in that trance music is a relatively new genre -started in the 90s, I just checked- and hasn't 'withstood the test of time.' It's the way the instrumentation has been so precisely selected to match her natural tone. So few vocals get this part right. I have been thinking a lot as to why I have come to love Trance music so much, here is what I have; Trance is a genre that is a universal sound that isn't bounded by race, age, time, mind set, or culture. It is pure emotion. It is the artist pouring their very essence into the song and inspiring others to see the good in the world. I have found my self on several occasions being reduced to tears by this music. It fails to put others down, it is love. Why do u like Trance music? Just curious.

@Brinkles101 The one thing I like about all music is the emotion it induces. The way certain notes go together to form melodies. Melody is in every genre, listen to beethovens piano sonata, the emotion that is provoked is very near to that of some of the trance stuff. Then take some heavy metal, rock, some pop etc etc. Its all about melody :)

@clockworkcookie Tiesto is indeed one of the legends of Trance. Even though he has taken a new direction with his music in the past years, I still love his music and respect him as an artist. He may now be doing more dance music nowadays, however you cannot blame him for branching out into other genres and exploring his potential. Even to this day, he remains one of my favorite artists. He has definitely earned peoples respect.

@Brinkles101 Tiësto introduced me to this genre, I love him for that, and I still love his older stuff as well. For many years he was simply unmatched. But with Elements of Life, his music started feeling worn out and contrived, so it wasn't surprising to me when he changed style. Armin Van Buuren is now the true king of trance, not just for his talent as a DJ but because he's the main force keeping trance alive and kicking after so many artists "moved on" from it.

I have also found myself reduced me to tears from the music, and i have even found myself in somewhat of a euphoric state induced by trance music. I have gone as far as tattooing symbols representing the epiphanies trance music has given me. nice to know others feel the same :)
