Reading some of the comments on this thread and I am appalled. A young man has died for whatever reason that can only be told by him, and we will never most probably know why. But what I would like to say is show some respect for Gary Speed. And I am from Liverpool and I support Liverpool, but that does not stop me showing respect for a good Football player who lost his way.
Why do we always hear the word 'depression' mentioned? People need to realise that there are many more mental illnesses out there than just depression! Gary Speed could have been suffering from severe anxiety, to the extent where he was having very real thoughts that he was going to cause severe harm to his family or a close friend, possibly even kill them. He maybe felt that by suicide, it was his only way of controlling the situation.

Getting our Priest to hold the funeral at all was hard enough- he kept preaching about self-killing being a mortal sin & that my bro would burn in hellfire for eternity.
