How could anyone dislike this? Brahms never disappoints and Wendy Warner is a superb cellist. I love her fine phrasing and rich tone. Beautiful performance!
I am an avid Wendy Warner fan. This rendering of the Brahms e-minor sonata is my favorite version. I have played this work since 1957 and will be performing it May 2 at Bucks County Community College. I use some of her bowings and phrasing. A Great artist.
This cellist is unknown to me. Her intonation is impeccable. I have about a half dozen recordings of this work by Mork, du Pre, Starker and Rostropovich and she is right up there. This sonata is not characterized by Brahms' usual dense textures, but has other difficulties which she navigates with aplomb. I wish her phrasing were a little more adventurous in certain passages, but this is really first rate stuff. I will look for her CDs today. Bravo Wendy!
There is a good reason why it ranks up there. Wendy was Slava's protege. It's a pity there aren't many recordings of her out there. Speaks volume about the sad disinterest that our society has in classical music.
Are we going to get the other movements? (also a performance of the Barber concerto for which Wendy is famed, would be just magnificent beyond words!)
anyone who does not have that recording should get it. i got it signed from wendy when i took lessons from her! shes really cool, in addition to her cello skills that is.

I think the piano was too asoft and the pianist should've known to put the "music stand" of the piano down

hey expert -- you never put the music stand down -- it's not proper to do in chamber music
