sorry to say since i like the car so much, but that is real slow for 420 hp...a 2002 camaro ss with nearly 100 less hp and about 1/4 of the price (used) accelerates in around the same time.
its about time they stepped it up a bit. if you ask me though, its not enough. they should turn the xkr into a more challenging competitor against the sl 65. they are close, but they could get closer. weight is already on the xkr's side, so even 580 hp should be sufficient.
@SSWestraX you're actually missing the point which is if you want performance, buy american. i know what people say about american cars, but they're all full of shit. i have lived in america many years and no european cars give you that kind of bang for the buck. i like this jag because it looks and sounds good, but with a price tag of around 100k i would much rather get a zr1. what are you really sacrificing? ride comfort? like i care about ride comfort...
@scarface115 exactly. you are not comparing apples to apples here. I bought an XK8 because I wanted a comfortable, beautiful, faster than average daily driver, not because I wanted a sports car with few sacrifices. As a Grand Tourer it meets all of these requirements. If I wanted all out performance I wouldn't have bought it. I love both domestic cars and euro cars, but the key is to compare cars with similar purposes, which you didn't do.
@scarface115 Ok I ran out of space in my previous comment. The only domestic I can think of that would be similar is the departed Cadillac XLR. I like the XLR, but depreciation hasn't hit it nearly as hard as Jaguar's notorious depreciation, that and although it looks good, it isn't as drop dead gorgeous as my Jag.
@SSWestraX comfortable yes, faster than avg yes, beautiful yes, worth 100k...not at all. we all have a different taste in cars, so you can spend your money however you wish. i'm just speaking my mind, but i can think of 1000 better ways to spend 100k and the end result would be that much better. if you think just those aspects make a car worth 100k, then you must be rich. i was comparing performance to price ratios, but that doesn't mean i dont think the camaro is beautiful or comfortable though
out of space...when you say sacrificing, what is it you're talking about? the only thing i see you would be sacrificing is ride comfort and interior design. american and euro cars have completely diff purposes to begin with. it just so happens that the american counterparts are faster, just as good looking if not better, and much more affordable. the jag is incomparable to any existing american car, but the cts-v, a sedan, is much better performing, comfortable affordable and has stunning looks.
@scarface115 I love the CTS-V. One of my buddies has a first gen. I get the feeling you believe I don't like American cars. This is certainly not the case, in fact, I also own a '87 Mercury Cougar with a nice, all american pushrod V8. I bought it because it was different, RWD, and it isn't a Mustang (although it does share the Mustang's Fox chassis) I'm just saddened that the domestics have decided they can't or don't want to compete in the GT market (other than the aforementioned XLR)
@scarface115 This has been a fun little conversation. I think, however, that we agree more than we disagree. The point I've been not very clearly making is not american vs euro (because I like both and both are vastly superior to asian) it is GT car vs. Sports car. I love sports cars, but I wouldn't want to drive one everyday. Maybe, despite the fact that I'm 26, somewhere in my heart is a septuagenarian, Maybe that is part of the reason I drive a Jag :)
@SSWestraX yea, i hear ya about the mustang. i'm not the biggest fan of them because they're just so common. i respect the fact how you decided to get something you don't see so often. you're right, we do agree more than i originally believed. i also find that asian cars are inferior in just about all aspects. you make valid points. you enjoy your jag, it's a fine car and don't let anybody tell you otherwise ;) smart that you bought used since you know how quick depreciation kicks in.
@whiteboy5480 no, it has 420 hp. it's an r...and no, it's really not quick for that much hp. you wanna hear quick? a 1987 buick grand national, not the GNX. with less than 300hp it does 0-60 in the same time. now that's quick. you can't always conclude a car is quick because it seemingly has a lot of hp.

@scarface115 Personally, I'm not sure any car is worth 100k (and I certainly can't afford one). That is why I buy used...
