Just want to put it out there but gender selection isn't available in Australia. Though it's available in other countries like Thailand, which you'll find is quite a bit more expensive than having IVF/ICSI here. :D

oh and also check with u local hospitals public and private - i work in the public however we are also connected to the private - both have joined and had info nights on IVF free of charge they are usually once every I want to say 2-3months (from seeing the flyers around the hospital) and u have to book as they fill the spots quick. Plus u will also get to met others in the same situation. Well thats here in syd but I am guessing would be aust wide surely!!!

Saying all this and also been a sub for 2 years now, and would live to see u guys have another baby and seeing Immy be a big sister. This whole process can be quick for some and can take a year to 18months.

Also I have to say it just to be helpful not cruel......one of the best things to help the whole conception thing is being at a healthy weight kg wise but also %body fat. SO if there is a waiting period for private health care ivf....please guys consider losing the weight.

......also not to turn u away but the depending on which way of ivf route u take to the success of lets just say the final outcome is a lot different/problematic compared to natural/fertility drug route. This is mentioned in info. Just read as much as u can or talk to others who have gone the same route or have the same issues u guys have - which i have no idea what they are. And see at least 2 diff ivf places.

...on the side of "designer" babies, its not as common here in aust as it is else where in the world and can send the $ way up. Most commonly the screen for other health issues. Also depending on health issue it maybe worth implanting multiple embryos at once to beat the odds of success. Or at least collect and fertilise then freeze for later (if doing this read fine print as some ivf places charge an annual storage fee!!!!

Depending on what it is u actually will need to have done according to ur health issues the range of tests (medicate doesnt cover a lot of them) and the number of ivf cycles treatment/implantations u need can cost a bit. Looking at a starting price of $4000 to $7000 for one try. For some drugs is all that is need to help the process along. Cause u have already conceived naturally once and are still relatively young the odds are for u rather the other way...

Great news about thinking bout IVF........I know aust medicare does cover some rebate on ivf treatment process.....however if u get private health insurance u will get more benefits for it but I think u have to wait for some of it. Check them out now if u maybe be heading for IVF in early 2012. Private covers surgery type procedures and the drugs involved where from memory (worked for a year with my aunt in an IVF lab here in syd) medicare covers more ......

My wife and I are just starting IVF. We've been trying for the past 5 years to have a baby naturally, but no joy. She had a miscarriage back in 2006, which was tough, but we still hold hope for the future.

Our IVF treatment has been in the planning for the past two years, it follows a years treatment of IUI (intrauterine insemination) which was unsuccessful, we've both got all our fingers crosses for the next stage.

Good luck with your IVF too, if that's the route you do go down :)

great news guys with the ivf.. we have a 5 month old ivf boy after 2nd try.

our daughter is 19 and son 5 months old. im 50 now and is the best thing we ever did. lot of work with the jabs,tests etc but well worth every bit of the journey

You don't need to get the metal mesh. I got the fly screen stuff for my front screen door because my dogs ripped the shit out of the original. Its the same stuff just 2-3 thicker. Not over expensive but the dogs have not been able to rip it in the last two years. Can pick it up from bunnings.
