  • STFU AND STROP

  • UHMNMM UHHH UHHH EERR DERRR

  • ohh my goddd you talk wayyyyy too much.. this is knife sharpening, not rocket science!! JEEZ get to your point already and stop going off on tangents! Just tell us "how to strop a knife"

  • @ the Gamma !!! wahahaha

    mooi vid. thnx

  • is this kind of stroping the same as using a buffing wheel and compound?

  • If you mixed Iron Oxide compound and Aluminium compound and heated it that would not be good then you would have Fe2O3Al1 or Thermite, the hottest burning compound known to man.

  • you go on and talk waaaay to much.

  • I thought that you are supposed to strop with the knife flat to the leather, not holding it at the angle you sharpen it at. Am I wrong?

  • I noticed that the Rockstead knife makers were using silver polish to do their knives. Those Rockstead blades are very sharp.

  • hi

i would like to know "how long is the stropping leather are in condition to replace a new one?

is there anyway to tell that it need to be replace?

    thankyou

  • I try to rub in my chrome oxide but it crumbles :( Any tips?

  • @vjanda1 get flexcut compound. or sand the oxide onto the strop

  • my rouge is chrome oxide i think 0.0

  • Yes you can use a leather belt, as long as it is leather youre good to go, if it has a fine and a "furry" side thats even better, go with the furry side first, dont apply much pressure on the belt, usually a softer leathet is found in belts. Polishing compound is not a requirement but i strongly recommend it ;)

  • *Benchmade

  • Zyhano....can you please do more reviews on folding knives sir? I'm in America and I'm 14 and I "collect" knives. I currently own a Bench made Osbourne 950 Rift Black TiNi Plain Edge knife (which I love). I don't have much money now and my parents are against weapons in general so I need something discreet. I love your videos!

  • are you going to sharpen the knife? Because someone used mine to cut strawberries and didn't clean it off, so i'm really angry, so i'm trying to sharpen it to use it on er'.

  • which side of the leather you use, the furry side or the smooth side?

    does it matter ?

  • so errm errm errm:)

  • @mrkackerwacker Racial slurs much?

    -Omar

  • Which side of the leather do you use to strop? The smoother side or the fuzzier & rougher side?

    Great vid!

  • @junstar81 Thanks my friend, I used to do fuzzy, these days, the smooth side, gives you even more sharpness

  • This guy is clearly European and he speaks more perfect English than 90% of the Americans that I know.

  • @philipm377 for me it's a compliment :) for an American an insult lol. thanks man

  • @philipm377 "more prefect" is redundant. Something is perfect or it is not. Sorry to be pedantic but it is fitting given the context.

  • @philipm377 Sadly, the Yanks you hear on TV make the rest of us look like simpletons. Not all of us are so ignorant.

  • @packersfan117 I appreciate that, and that's absolutely not what I think. There's smart people and good folks everywhere :) and the reverse is true also lol

  • How are you allowed to own those knives in Europe with all those dumb laws there?

  • @RightWingCon81 only get the ones that are allowed. All my knives are legal to own. unfortunately, laws are getting more and more restrictive everywhere...

  • @zyhano I have to start looking into knives marketed for Europeans as I work in NYC. We have more and more restricive laws every year.

  • @RightWingCon81 yeah, especially 2010 was a bummer for you guys.. DA really did a job on you

  • @RightWingCon81 It depends on the respective laws of one nation. They do very quite a bit, while most countries here tend to have quite restrictive laws, there are still exceptions. Like the liberal knife relating laws in Finnland and particularly Austria, where literally everything goes(except sword cranes and such).

    take care

  • thats a good knife i have one of those they are expesive

  • @MrNinjaman69 the Fallkniven or the strider?

  • @zyhano the strider

  • Hi! could i use a leather belt for the leather? thaanks..great vids!

  • @hussaruk no problem.

  • is .5 microns good or is higher microns better

  • @UglymanUSA .5 is about the finest you ever want to go on a knife

  • but thanks for the vid

  • @chubbychinchilla Lol, tnx ;)

  • WHat is the finest grit compound? Thanks.

  • @1013637 I would not know. I'm using dmt brand diapaste at the moment: 6,3 and 1 micron.

Diamond sprays are available at .5 and .25 micron also

  • You only said Um 52 times.

  • @chubbychinchilla are you sure... I counted less. Please retry.

  • @chubbychinchilla i might of included the O's lol

  • I've gotten an extreme polish and a very sharp edge on my wood carving knives using just a strop loaded with aluminum oxide. I use other stuff on my other knives, but if aluminum oxide's rough, as you say, it's still plenty fine as far as stropping. I imagine if I used some of the extremely fine compounds, I should be able to practically see through my knives. :) Just kidding, obviously.

  • @CanItAlready Hey there, if you're into woodcarving and woodworking, I recommend the book by Leonard Lee about sharpening. It's excellent!

  • @zyhano What kind of leather do you use, as well as what compounds? As in what brand?

  • the video you are referring to, is on the knivesschipfree (.) com website

it's a series of videos on stropping, very informative, as are your videos thanks

  • @wigglos thanks my friend for pointing that out, and thanks for the compliment

  • @zyhano One more thing, what king of wood did you use, I couldn't tell what you said.

  • @jeoofro69 Hey, it's just some pinewood (vuren), soft wood. The leather is just 4mm cowhide vegetable tanned. Most leathers will do, since they only act as the carrier for the abrasive. I'm using a no brand polish material from the hardware store. It's probably not the best out there. I also have dmt diamond pasted strops, which is of a very high quality for abrasives.

  • excellent demo! What was the name of that fixed blade knife again?

  • @heavypricepaid

    Fallkniven F1

  • Excellent 2-parter, great videos. Thanks for the insights, really good information.

  • Very Nice, I am moding my strop now.

What was the brand of the fixed blade kvife?

    again good job.

    runk

  • @dnfwrunk it's a fallkniven f1. I'm doing an upload at the moment with my review on it

  • nice video man

  • wow, you're fast, just uploaded it :)

thanks!! check out part 2 it's being uploaded right now. I made a little index to show what is in the video in the info panel.

  • @zyhano thanks. i like the idea of drawling the angle on the side of the wood
