  • I found the fucking original trollface song !

  • oh shit, this guy sounds like Pelle from The Hives...Just sayin', great voice

  • this is soooo much better than television!!

  • Robert Fucking Quine FTW

  • Interesting how Hell has no apparent problem tolerating YT uploads of his post-Television recordings. But try uploading an old bootleg performance of any song with Hell singing with Television, which he presumably co-wrote,& it's gonna get spiked by Hell(bitter memories?).I've uploaded a bunch of rare Television recordings,&the only ones that got spiked were the 2 with Hell singing, including "Blank Generation"&"Excitement"(copyright infringement claim lodged by "Richard Meyers" -Hell's real name)!

  • rock!

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • So, about them Ponies.

  • can u upload betrayal takes two?

  • @CanIEditMyUserName Of course ;) I'm preparing it!

  • @frency934e Looks like the WMG has blocked it for copyright reasons, how do u get around that?

  • @CanIEditMyUserName

    Just a comment about RH &TV's !

Saw them supporting Elvis Costello & The Attractions at The London Palladium with John Cooper Clark as 2nd support.

They were the ONLY band I have ever seen boo'd off stage for being ATROCIOUS !!

Who says nostalgia is great !!

  • bollox i saw them on that tour and at pompey guildhall they were fuckin amazing

  • Absoluter Kult Song !

    Cheerz & Oi!

  • @Bpatch83 its actually a witty take on an earlier song called The Beat Generation by Rod Mckuen (of all people)

  • love this song but wut album? id love to own it!

  • @stereosanctity7 the album is Blank Generation :)

  • One person is a massive faggot

  • remember that time we were talkin' bout Dick Hell?

  • Comment removed

  • swing rythm+rock riffs+jazz solo=punk rock about dark times in 70s

  • the shitty generation

  • How come when recently tried to post a '74 recording of Hell singing Blank Generation while he was with Television, the audio got immediately spiked by YT due to a copyright claim? Of 30+ song uploads I've done, that's the only one that got spiked, & I don't understand why, especially when this Voidoid's version's allowed. WTF.?

Well, I'm glad at least this version survived.

  • Sounds like Stray Cat Strut to me, who made who. :)

  • @BobSellers This song pre-dated Stray Cat Strut.

  • @MsGeek703 but not The Ventures - Walk Don't Run

  • this guitar handling in the solos is brilliant

  • @idiotjim

    ...

You may be slightly confused. The solos sound cool in the recording, but, much like many early punk bands, the guitarist usually just free styled the solos. In other words, they just made random shit up when they played. It didn't really take any skill in 'guitar handling.' For example, just listen to the live video here on YouTube. You'll see what I mean.

  • @badbrain94 Im aware of that and that make it very alive and without clouds of tecniqe or poses - i loved it then and still do :)

  • Hey Rich, you dont like your generation? well check out mine, now that's some fuck.

  • timeless song, and so true

  • looks like a Fender Mustang Bass..., sweet.

  • I hope people get it...He leaves it BLANK. No such thing as gen x or y or z. You are who you are..make yourself useful and do something. Really simple.

  • f--king awesome

  • beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DeeDee Ramone says richerd hell liked sucken D and also took it in the back door.....

  • r.hell likes dick in his butt

  • this is where the pistols got their inlfuence

  • @Ragingsinep 'influence' is too nice a word. the sex pistols copied him and were a crass commerical dumbed down version of what was going on in nyc

  • looove it

  • PUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the extra time you left at the end

  • @jwbkmn I'm sorry ^-^'' i've got some problems with movie maker..But now i've changed the version!

  • @frency934e no, I was totally serious!

  • @jwbkmn yeah, me too... but i hate it

  • FUKING RULES!!! music now sucks

  • Beginning sounds like Captain Beefheart... and then the rest is punk being born and perfected all at once. What a song. Only bested by Television, and he was IN Television!

  • @Schpoonfish For a time :)

  • such a classic song. i love richard hell. one of punks best poets

  • @punkhippe yeah, hell's great... but what about Quine on this record? he's fuckin amazing. the torque! check him out at 1:20, the best disintegrated, spazzed out guitar solo ever, so clear, so sharp as a knife ... it kills every time. Quine kills every cut on that record. with the years, i find i listen to this stuff just to get a spike of Quine!

  • @raphael13377 Lets not forget That is Ivan Julian who plays those eerie brilliant opening chords. The fine drummer here who so perfectly hits out this shuffle beat is Marc Bell who would later give a big boost to the ramones. The Voidoids are certainly not for everyone but they were a first rate and wholly original band.
