Interesting how Hell has no apparent problem tolerating YT uploads of his post-Television recordings. But try uploading an old bootleg performance of any song with Hell singing with Television, which he presumably co-wrote,& it's gonna get spiked by Hell(bitter memories?).I've uploaded a bunch of rare Television recordings,&the only ones that got spiked were the 2 with Hell singing, including "Blank Generation"&"Excitement"(copyright infringement claim lodged by "Richard Meyers" -Hell's real name)!
How come when recently tried to post a '74 recording of Hell singing Blank Generation while he was with Television, the audio got immediately spiked by YT due to a copyright claim? Of 30+ song uploads I've done, that's the only one that got spiked, & I don't understand why, especially when this Voidoid's version's allowed. WTF.?
You may be slightly confused. The solos sound cool in the recording, but, much like many early punk bands, the guitarist usually just free styled the solos. In other words, they just made random shit up when they played. It didn't really take any skill in 'guitar handling.' For example, just listen to the live video here on YouTube. You'll see what I mean.
I hope people get it...He leaves it BLANK. No such thing as gen x or y or z. You are who you are..make yourself useful and do something. Really simple.
Beginning sounds like Captain Beefheart... and then the rest is punk being born and perfected all at once. What a song. Only bested by Television, and he was IN Television!
@punkhippe yeah, hell's great... but what about Quine on this record? he's fuckin amazing. the torque! check him out at 1:20, the best disintegrated, spazzed out guitar solo ever, so clear, so sharp as a knife ... it kills every time. Quine kills every cut on that record. with the years, i find i listen to this stuff just to get a spike of Quine!
@raphael13377 Lets not forget That is Ivan Julian who plays those eerie brilliant opening chords. The fine drummer here who so perfectly hits out this shuffle beat is Marc Bell who would later give a big boost to the ramones. The Voidoids are certainly not for everyone but they were a first rate and wholly original band.
I found the fucking original trollface song !

May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

Just a comment about RH &TV's !
Saw them supporting Elvis Costello & The Attractions at The London Palladium with John Cooper Clark as 2nd support.
They were the ONLY band I have ever seen boo'd off stage for being ATROCIOUS !!
