It is a wholly wacky explanation for the double slit experiment. We treat quarks as if they bind together into a solid electron, proton, or neutron. This is silly. The individual components should maintain some autonomy.
If the subelements are in motion, such as a complex orbit, we could easily be fooled into something wacky like quantum mechanics.

One thing I've been suspicious about for a long time is that in duration of a person's average lifespan at 80 years or so, there's more possibilities, combination of possibilities and the elusive possibilities (the most unlikely possibilities to emerge but still could manifest) than the amount of atoms we have in the universe. I have to view this one again. It is astounding isn't it?? When I was told to read a book, "The Holorgraphic Universe," by Michael Talbot I was amazed at the wonderful way things were explained that I could understand it ONCE I TOOK 4 weeks to read the 7 page or so introduction. Wow! Wait right there! The fact that matter is not "rock solid" doesn't make it "like a thought", but more importantly: the concept of "observer" in the context of quantum mechanics is WAY different from the one they are using in this movie. For starters, the observer in qm doesn't even have to have conciousness. It can be an electron or a photon, and it becomes an observer the moment that the thing to be observed afects it in a way that changes it's state

What happens when our body dies? Consciousness shifts from a separate physical state back to the whole energy state that is all around. When my separate experience ends and I leave this body to rejoin the infinite oneness which is everything and nothing. Hmm, 4:35 in they say when you are not looking/observing something it is just a wave of possibility. That's wrong, as looking is only one sense of perception, even with your eyes closed you are still perceiving the area around you through the electromagnetic field of the body vibrating outwards and building an image of its surroundings. Maybes there are buffers in place to ensure everyones subjective perception coincides with everyone elses. For example maybe you see the tree as fallen down and I see it as still standing but when you say its fallen down it translates to its still standing to me so we both agree and both think we're seeing the same thing.

But quantum physics isn't actually a very good model.
It is a wholly wacky explanation for the double slit experiment. We treat quarks as if they bind together into a solid electron, proton, or neutron. This is silly. The individual components should maintain some autonomy.
If the subelements are in motion, such as a complex orbit, we could easily be fooled into something wacky like quantum mechanics.

One thing I've been suspicious about for a long time is that in duration of a person's average lifespan at 80 years or so, there's more possibilities, combination of possibilities and the elusive possibilities (the most unlikely possibilities to emerge but still could manifest) than the amount of atoms we have in the universe. I have to view this one again. It is astounding isn't it?? When I was told to read a book, "The Holorgraphic Universe," by Michael Talbot I was amazed at the wonderful way things were explained that I could understand it ONCE I TOOK 4 weeks to read the 7 page or so introduction. I knew that if I did not understand the intro I would not understand the balk of the book, because it said these pages covered what was in between those pages. WOW!! Wow! Wait right there! The fact that matter is not "rock solid" doesn't make it "like a thought", but more importantly: the concept of "observer" in the context of quantum mechanics is WAY different from the one they are using in this movie. For starters, the observer in qm doesn't even have to have conciousness. It can be an electron or a photon, and it becomes an observer the moment that the thing to be observed afects it in a way that changes it's state

You are extremely defensive, it is quite sad instead of just accepting that you were wrong, and then learning from it, you attack me, and learn nothing. can somebody please explain this to me. earlier in this movie they said if we see something we would never expect to see (native americans and columbus' ship) then we would never see it until someone says it's there. but that would mean that someone did see it. like what about when you're born, you know nothing and you can't talk so no one can tell you this and that. but you still see. kind of like when a baby cries because something scares it. they don't know what it is, they just feel scared

What happens when our body dies? Consciousness shifts from a separate physical state back to the whole energy state that is all around. When my separate experience ends and I leave this body to rejoin the infinite oneness which is everything and nothing. The universe effectively dies with me as my part is no longer perceiving from a separate viewpoint. For everyone else having their own experience it will continue as they are still perceiving and therefore creating the universe in their own mind

i don't understand that creating the universe with your own mind, i mean i heard a quote once that said "there are no facts only interpretations" but at the same time there are things that many accept as true like, 2+2=4, or people can walk with their feet if not paralyzed, i'm not trying to disrespect but this seems like one of those things that just confuses more than teaches, i'm trying to get an understanding of this i'm not trying to talk down on it so somebody please respond to this

Hmm, 4:35 in they say when you are not looking/observing something it is just a wave of possibility. That's wrong, as looking is only one sense of perception, even with your eyes closed you are still perceiving the area around you through the electromagnetic field of the body vibrating outwards and building an image of its surroundings. It should be when you are not perceiving at all, the space around is just pure energy/possibility.

Maybes there are buffers in place to ensure everyones subjective perception coincides with everyone elses. For example maybe you see the tree as fallen down and I see it as still standing but when you say its fallen down it translates to its still standing to me so we both agree and both think we're seeing the same thing.

@taliesin112233 in quantum mechanics, the observer does not have to be a person or have a mind (as may be shown incorrectly in this movie). If you leave a recorder, it would record the tree falling and be it's observer, so yes, it would exist.

This is misinformed, everything they are presenting here is misleading, they make it sound like they know what they are talking about (i.e. from an expert's p.o.v.)... these people sound like they've read an article of quantum mechanics and took it and ran off into some crazy realm of new age spiritualty and science, if you really want to know what quantum mechanics means you need to put yourself into the shoes of its discoverers and experience the revelation first hand imo.

this is such a typical popular "science" program pretentiously taking some philosophical thesis and presenting it for an uneducated audience as "fact". There is a fallacy in letting the enormous authority of the "science" label stand as argument in it self for the truth of the advocated theories. This stuff is mostly rubbish based on immaterialist Berklyism merged with quantum theory. Of course the title indicates an ideal of open-mindedness to the possibilities. And I agree that we should be open minded to the wondrous mysteries of the world - after all, what the bleep do we know. But nonetheless, there is no reason to believe there are flying teapots orbiting around the sun just because we don't KNOW it to be false. I'd say we'd need a little more evidence and/or argument to regard it plausible.
Us not knowing is no reason to prefer just any theory to another.
