The media in general are like bad lawyers; Ambulance chasers that don't care about anything except making a buck. If nobody watched reality shows or listened to modern music, they wouldn't write articles about them or broadcast them on TV. It's up to us, the consumers, to listen to what we enjoy and ignore what we don't. If you don't like modern media, don't watch or listen. Eventually the practically-ADD kids in society now will bore of it and it will disappear, being replaced with a new fad

I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't wanna know. Some things are better left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful it can't be expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you those voices soared, higher and farther than anybody in a grey place dares to dream.
does it matter how a comprehesive lad on a council estate found this quality song..........please make more films like shawshake & let us all enjoy art of quality,,,,,,afterall it is the demb massis that pay for it ,
@BirthOfSerpents Because of "Shawshank redemption" is my guess. I will never understand why people wont rather hear the real thing without interuptions. I just feel lucky i found this version. It is truly beautiful.
@Daser8888 true however i did really enjoy that movie, the acting was superb but i would much rather see this than a scene from a movie containing the track you know.
@BirthOfSerpents To be honest lets be fair to say that this is "real music, real art, real talent, all the popular music nowadays is absolutely terrible" is a bit insulting to all the people who pour their souls into music nowadays, I will agree that this is an amazingly beautiful piece but please do not discredit all of the bands that are out now because the music they produce doesn't inspire your emotions the way this does. search for this "HALLELUJAH , (shrek song)"
@NavAppClark not to be rude but, nowadays theres rarely any originality bands like lady gaga are not creative in the least, lady gaga has people who write her music, design her wardrobe, edit her voice be it little or alot, and just about everything else. there are artists out there who are great like the mountain goats, tom waits etc but can you honestly name a good number of bands/artists that 1 arnt in it for money and 2 do everything themselves without the aid of others
@BirthOfSerpents All music is real though all music is noise. Noise that our brain's absorb and decide whether it's pleasant or not. Someone talking rhythmically, wind passing over trees and fields of grass and flowers, the sounds of waves hitting a beach, jack hammers, car horns, and even car alarms could be music depending on your perception. As long as there's harmony, there's music. You should avoid generalities because not all popular music is terrible, most just might not fit your taste.
can you just imagine yourself at an empty open field laying in the soft grass the breeze blowing gently on to your face, while this song was playing, my interpretation of peaceful paradise..
Sciutti and Gueden: how wonderful were their voices!...This music comes directly from Heaven! What a pity that such interpreters only belong to the past...we haven't got any wonderful sopranos nowadays: how I wish they were here. This video is a real treasure: Fischer-Dieskau, Sciutti and Gueden...I ordered a copy from amazon a week ago. I hope it's on the way!
Gueden sounds great here. Three years later and her voice had deteriorated. That's when I saw her in this role at the Staatsoper. How strange that it happened so fast. You had to sympathize when she would brave it out even though she could hardly finish an aria and the gallery was laughing and booing.
How wonderful! Sciutti a Susanna... her Rosina is simply wonderul! Fischer-Dieskau as Count Almaviva! I must order a copy! Wonderful! Simply wonderful!

Wonderful. Great music and great singers. So nice to see the set and
costumes appropriate to the opera.
Nowadays Cherubino is dressed like a hockey player.
Gueden sometimes stepped outside of her usual fach. Sang both
Mimi and Musetta in La Boheme.
tnx 4 the lovely post.
